    I’ve been wearing Casio Pathfinders since 2002. I had the PRG50 which was huge. When the newer models came out they removed the dual lcd display and I was sad. I bought a PRW-2600Y-1JF in 2013 and still wear it today. I haven’t seen a better one released since. This one is in all black, it has the dual lcd display and has the best specs I’ve seen.

    I have had my pathfinder for 15 years still works well. Beat up and battered from many adventures. My only complaint about this watch is that I have NEVER been able to get the altimeter to work properly, however, generally it is consistently off by about 300ft so I just compensate for the 300ft and have an approximate idea of the altitude. Was thinking about getting a new one but why? This one works fine and from what I have read, people still complain about the inaccuracy about the altimeter with the new watches. One final word is about the temp sensor. It is important to remember you need to take the watch off your wrist for 15-30 minutes to get an accurate reading. Otherwise the temp will be distorted by your body heat.

      Wow that's great! Yeah I've experienced that as well. I actually recently damaged mine hitting it hard on some rocks, and now the compass feature is out of whack unfortunately. Other than that it has performed awesome over the years, and I will probably end up buying a new one again, because I love having that compass feature. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I read on Amazon that they are selling for $150, don't remember exactly what I spent on mine years ago but it was a lot more than $150.

    Both this for my daughter as a high school gift. She stopped using it when she started college. She graduated last week. I just happened to find it in it closet. It was dead. I put it on any way. About 30 minutes later it is working!!! I didn't even realize it is solar powered. None of the buttons seen too be working though. Will keep it in the sun tomorrow and see if a full charge will help.

    I aint done my chose yet, prg 240vs270. Prg270 workin faster feels newer, but led backlight is a shame, 240 just lil older model.
    All the best!

    Had mine almost 10 years. LOVE IT. Just one thing, it gains about 10 seconds a week. Not much, but kinda annoying having to reset. Wish it came with Atomic. I've also got the Waveceptor, but it's not nearly as nice. The recharge is awesome even after a decade it still holds a charge every bit as well as when I bought it.

    @ 0:52 to calibrate the temp sensor i simply subtracted 12 degree's from the setting and its always within a degree or so to the ambient temp.

    I looked up: What watches do special forces use? And found out that these Casio watches are one of them. I travel quite a bit, and I got tired of only finding women's watches that did diddly squat. Found mine used for $50 years ago, and it still works. The only thing is that my female wrist is small.

    You still using this watch? I want to buy a watch specifically for travel and I would like to see in a digital form the time, date, day of the week. for example 09:08 Mon Sept 10. Also for it to have an Atomic clock so I won't have to adjust it as I travel. The alarm clock feature is Great! as well as the solar recharging.

      Hey, yeah man that's the best feature in my opinion. Just hit the button anytime and wait a second or two and it will show you digital compass that updates in real time. As you rotate your body the compass stays pointing to North. Thanks for watching!

    How long does the battery last between charges?

    • @JacobysJourneys
      @JacobysJourneys  4 года назад +1

      Mine never goes to low battery. Since I''m outside so much, maybe it's just always slowly charging haha. But yeah, mine is always on High or Medium battery. The only time I had to actually "charge" it, by laying it in the sun, was a couple years back when I was backpacking in Asia for several months. I had the watch set to automatically light up (indiglo) at night when I turned my wrist up to check the time. It started flashing "Low Batt" so I just laid it in the sun for a few hours and it was back to 100%. So I guess it depends how often you use the indigo feature. But roughly, it will last for several months each charge. If its on low or med battery just lay it in the sun for a few hours. Thanks for watching!

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 3 года назад +1

      It charges automaticaly, the battery never drops to low, it's always on high level on mine. It's a ten year watch at least, probably the best value Casio watch, especially when it comes to what it can do and how easy it is to use it. Superb watch!

    • @zebostoneleigh
      @zebostoneleigh 2 года назад

      Casio says it lasts 6 months without recharging. But, as others have said - it's always recharging. You'd have to live in a cave without lights for 6 months, apparently.
