Monet's Pond in Seki City (Gifu Prefecture) is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. This koi pond, nearby the paddy ridges of a small shrine, is filled with spring water so clear you can see through to the bottom. Together with the leisurely swimming koi (carp) and the dainty floating water lilies, it is a most wondrous scenery that can’t be seen elsewhere.
The beauty of Monet's Pond is even more pronounced in early summer when water lilies are in full bloom, and in late autumn when leaves change colours.
