      @@LondonCityWalks Those 4 guys were wearing the same clothes as they did on Monday , either they don't have a washing machine or can't be bothered to change ! You did the right thing letting MOD know ! .I recognised the other ones you mentioned as well from being thrown out before , they seemed to make a quick exit though . I said before I'm sure someone is breeding tourists out on the Parade ground 😀. The week leading to Easter lots of people on holiday what will it be like at the weekend I dread to think !! Offering up their children I see! I was once smacked straight on in the face by a horse’s head. I saw stars. Literally! I can still remember the pain and I was 16. If people only knew how much pain a horse can inflict just by turning its head, they’d stop crowding around them. Not to mention those huge feet. I reckon getting your foot smashed would be a deterrent . I’m really surprised it doesn’t happen more often.

    Whenever my mother saw a group of lads skulking about she used to say “they are up to no good”. She was always right. They have nothing better to do than make fun of the guards and get themselves on You Tube. I honestly believe we should bring back conscription from the age of 16. No exceptions for any religion if you live in the country you abide by our rules. UK is not ours anymore it’s very sad. I was born in the fifties where we were taught to respect our elders and people of authority. They were also strict in the schools too. Nowadays the children especially the teenagers do what they want. Even back chat their teachers parents don’t care and teachers are now very restricted and unable to give out punishments. With regard the rain John I just walk down the high street as the heavens opened. My trousers were soaked. Yet when I went out it was sunny. Snow on the way apparently it is certainly turning very cold. Good old UK 😂

      Completely agree with you , the sort of behaviour we see too often would not be tolerated under any circumstances . Respect for everyone was expected of us , politeness , please and thank you , standing up on the bus for an adult , helping to carry bags , running errands for elderly neighbours and not expecting anything in return . I remember going to cross the busy road to school with my friend and being almost terrified to see a policeman there instead of our lollipop lady 😶. He was lovely though and talked to us while we waited 😊. I brought my children up the same way .

      " I was born in the fifties where we were taught to respect our elders and people of authority. " Rubbish.
      If that was the case there'd have been no racism, the police wouldn't have set up the Guildford Four, there'd have been no sex offences against children and women, no assaults on homosexual people...the list is endless of the corrupt, violent and vicious bigotry and criminality and anti-social behaviour that occurred when you were growing up.

      My grandfather served in army ww2, 3uncles (one army, one navy & one air force up to secret service), & cousin army. The one uncle & cousin both have their hands registered as deadly weapons from the training they went through which doesn't stop idiots in their hometown from picking a fight in hopes they'd fight back to put them in jail. Currently, i've 2 brothers in the marines. I grew up learning to respect their service & others service & sacrifice. Once returned home, they may be here but their experience of what they went through comes back with them & more often than not held in silence, except in my papas case where he had ptsd & night terrors where we'd hear only slivers of what he endured & learned at a very young age if papa talks in his sleep stay at a safe distance & get an adult. He tackled & hurt my grammy once during an episode, reliving his trauma in dreams. it wasnt him but the condition & experience he came home with. All servicemen should be respected, with a courtesy of thank you for your service. Here in the usa for ceremonies & the like, its usually family & close friends who attend. They're not usually this open to public unless its a parade or on active duty in closed off areas for protection or help relief. As an american looking in at the kings guard being so open with active service members & tourists growing disrespect, perhaps new measures of rules should be implemented.

    Hi John, as always, thank you so much for your thoughtful informative videos. Sadly, these daily scenes of mass tourists squeezing through the yard of Horseguards are becoming unsustainable, and it's not even the main summer season yet! Is no one in the MOD security teams worried for public safety, the safety of the military & indeed the lovely & very patient horses. Mass tourist groups should not be allowed in the yard. No suitcases or large bags or backpacks either. I worked in Whitehall for a very long time and used the yard to cross between government departments & Parliament. I never encountered such issues as I see today. To even enter the Palace of Westminster now is tedious but warranted. I fear the tourist companies are getting greedy & the numbers they guide are sublimely large through the yard. Don't get me started on the foreign students! The rudeness amongst some of them is disgraceful but also very sad to serving troupers who give their lives to king and country. As you have highlighted, there are other groups of mainly younger persuasions who are just as ignorant! You did say the military personnel appreciate your time and videos. Can you show or highlight how, as myself, amongst others, worry desperately for the security, well-being of the troupers and horses. It's time for change of how the worlds tourists are allowed to enter this precious space! Please, please help John! My best wishes, Theresia

      We trained all our Rotties to go outside in all kinds of weather. Because they were working dogs, either for Police work or S&R, we trained them all with the same command. Go do hurry up!! And then we'd have a stack of drying towels by the door when they all came in. All 4 adult dogs. 2 males and 2 females. The one male we'd tell him to Patrol, and he'd go around the whole 300 acres and do his business while on patrol,the other 3 we trained to go to one spot in the back yard. When they came in, they were trained to wait, and we'd dry them off. They knew if they waited they got a treat at the end. Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦. John, the group of four are the second wave of the guys I told you about last year. They are middle eastern but the language they are speaking is not straight up Arabic... I thought I caught some French words. My intuition about these types are never wrong. They are planning something for the Spring/Summer because horse guards don't have enough police to handle what they plan. The last group was four too and they are off at other tourist spots.

      @Bandomeme 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@susaneglinton2184 there’s a great difference between warning visitors of possible danger and telling them they are prohibited from doing something. You really cannot equate the two. Visitors are allowed (even encouraged) to touch the horses even though they might bite or kick. Visitors seeking shelter under the arches are treated like trespassers, even though there is absolutely nothing warning them not to go there. A simple, portable “No Entry” sign placed on the boundary would save everyone a deal of aggravation. We’ve been suggesting one for years, with no improvement, so the policy can’t be that important to the guards.

      I do wish people would stop using the phrase " animal abuse " simply because they don't like the fact that people are allowed to touch the horses ! Abuse - cruelty and neglect , do you see either here ? Some horses enjoy the interaction , imagine a life with no contact , no loving pat or stroke , yes some horses get a little uncomfortable and show it but it's 1 hour in their lives . As for those who keep insisting " they should be out running and playing in green fields " what happens when the fields are no longer green no food or water , they become sick or injured no one to look after them ? That's abuse , cruelty and neglect so save your " oh poor horses " bleeding heart for them !
