The very 1st time I ever hear about Taurus Riley,is since I left Jamaica living in the United States. When I heard the song named she is Royal,and I said this youthman can really sing. Good voice quality, also good arrangements and good poetequality. Then I enquire about who son,and some told me is Jimmy Riley son.
Jimmy Riley was one of my singer,I know his father from in 1960s, when he was singing in the group.Most of the younger generation in Jamaica,singer them, like even Buju Banton. Is since I left Jamaica living in the United States, I started to hear about them.
But is one thing I can say about some of these singers them, they don't respect the elders them. Who set or laid the foundation for all of them, some times. When I tries to explain some of the things, to the younger generation in Jamaica about. The music fraternity in Jamaica, because what they are saying it is not true. But because of their ego,you cannot tell them nothing at all. Because some of the songs I hear some of them is singing, it is a old times music. All they does it changed a few words,hear and there. Also say the words in a different style, I useto played my stepfather sound system from in 1960s, 1970s,80s.Plus I useto do a little DJ myself, but in those days, it was all for fun.I useto lived near to King Tubbys from in 1960s, 1970s, Black Scaprio, Sir Don,Coxene, Duke Reid.Anyway I liked the Riley sing some very nice songs,he reminds of Barrington Levy as young singer.
His father was a very great singer, I know his father a young man. He was a couple years older than me,the great Bob Marley. When I heard Benieman said that he is greater than Bob Marley, then I realized that he is a Bellevue hospital in Kingston patient. In this world or the next world, you will never see another singer or DJ from Jamaica. Can great as Bob Marley, is the greatest of all times.
