I tried Hardcore for the first time today and died a silly death early game. This video is inspiring me to keep pushing forth though, and maybe we both will be good enough at the game. Good luck on the series!
i just beat a hardcore world for the first time (as far as i can remember) today. my advice: take everything VERY slowly. don't go rushing into any huge dark caves or nether fortresses. prioritize survivability over utility. use villagers to work your way up to full protection 4 diamond armor and feather falling. it shouldn't be hard, it just might take a while depending on how you get emeralds. if you get trades like efficiency 5 or unbreaking 3, i would skip those. the important enchantments are the ones that give you the edge in life or death situations. if you happen to fall into lava in the nether, do the trick where you exit and reload the world every 3 seconds for invincibility frames. don't try to swim up though, just use the i-frames to sink to the floor and place a door where you're standing to make an air pocket. then, dig down and find a way out the lava.

Not once in over a decade of Minecraft have I ever 'ground' for sticks and such to trade with villagers. I will have full diamond gear within a few hours of starting a new world, and at that point will be setting up an enchanting workshop to get the first set of enchantments on it without recourse to villagers. In fact in most of my playthroughs the 'only' trades I make with villagers (usually just one villager) are for mending, using emeralds I have collected through mining and the like. I also very rarely die. Most of my playthroughs, I never die, because I play carefully, I don't take risks. That said there IS grinding involved, but that is shaft mining for resources, and I can easily control the danger when shaft mining. I don't risk caving until I have enchanted diamond gear. I don't build any 'farms' except for an XP farm, and that is usually after the first enchantments on diamond.
Amazing save at 9:45, right out of a fairy tale! With Dia armor, you were never really in danger. 2 hearts dmg from fall damaged and MAYBE 1/2 heart from the lava before the Gapple triggered. Just building up would've done the job. Alternatively, first building up and then pressing the "oh-shit!"-button would've given the Gapple more HP to regen. Either way, the way you did it was still a very good reaction. Better safe than sorry. 8/10
Honestly the first thing I do is just build a Raid farm. Free diamond gear, food, totems, enchantments and xp. Then I can just go into the nether, beat the game, get netherite, build a wither farm and be unkillable.
6:10 I noticed it instantly cuz... with what else are you supposed to kill the golems with... your hands? there is no other way to kill them early in the game other then (EVIL POTENTIAL!) with lava
That part with the ‘Turn the wood into sticks for the fletcher’ and the fact that it kept coming up reminds me of the Chris Farley ‘Van down by the river’ skit 😭
Recently started playing hardcore and am on my 6th iteration, my second and current play through have been my most successful. One tip I have is that I’ve found the cartographer’s glass pane trade to be way less grindy than the fletcher since you can automate smelting with furnaces which also lets you upscale really fast.
Nice job with the video! I'm looking forwards to future episodes. Also, was curious what your thoughts with the new villager rebalances in the latest snapshot was, and especially the new diamond spawn rate changes. Seems like pretty revolutionary stuff to the game.
I'd say it doesn't affect me as much, since I usually trade without the discount most of the times anyways, and even then it's a somewhat deserved nerf imo. The diamond spawn rate changes looks to be neat so I'm looking forward to how they go
@@XayXayYT Yeah I never used the discount either, though the trades being locked to different biomes and not giving the max level of the enchant will affect the progression of the game quite significantly, especially with the current state of anvils.
