Figured I'd find someone else using the KeySmart clips in the comments. Love 'em, keeps my Compact handy and has made it the first knife to truly be an EDC for me. The only problem is if you find yourself having to write with the pen being held by the multipurpose hook, you now have the clip dangling and dragging along your writing surface. It still works, but is real annoying.
My solution: bring a real pen :D

I have been using double sided foam tape, and plastic cable management hooks, and taoe the hook on the back spine. I carry the thicker knives, so the back spine is the "thickest" dimension, making the knife sit flusher in the pocket or belt. Also, the foam grips the metal pretty well, and I don't risk snapping the scales off because of overworking the plastic mounts that hold the scales in place. That's the weakest point with scale mounting a belt clip.

Can be inserted into the slot under the toothpick, the clip from the Shnaider K15 ballpoint pen. The pen itself is very cheap. The clip fits perfectly into the slot and keeps the knife in the pocket. You won't have to finish anything...) But you will have to give up the toothpick itself (.... I advise you to try it! If you don't like it - you can easily disassemble everything back. Many people who tried it - liked it. Use it for your health. Greetings from Ukraine 🇺 🇦

This is right up my alley! So much so that I already have some clips waiting for me to install - happy to see you do it first Felix so I can see how it's done!
I really wasn't confident the plastic scale would be strong enough. One of the clips I bought is made from titanium. It was more expensive and completely unnecessary, but I noticed it seems to have less spring tension than the steel clips. I figured that might be nice to avoid pulling too hard on the scale.

With a clip with a long back plate (scale side) I have used industrial strength double sided tape on one and velcro pads with adhesive backing on another. They work well, are durable, theoretically can be removed without damage to the scales. BUT these methods do add more thickness to the knife. With the screw methods, a little Locktite may be a good addition. As always, a great video.

A pocket clip is an unnecessary complication for an SAK, in my opinion. They are small enough to be a pocket knife, and the clip will affect the grip. If I am whittling wood, I imagine I would pretty much hate it after 60 seconds.

As an American planning to visit Europe in the spring of 2024, I face the same problem many of your other viewers face. We can't carry a Swiss Army Knife in the cabin on the flight over, and we don't want to pay often high check baggage fees for just a small knife. I've thought about mailing a SAK over, but I'm unsure how well the pickup would work. You might want to do a video on knife-carry issues both in getting them to Europe and carrying them there.

Hi. Great idea to put a clips to update the Swiss army knife but wouldn't it be better to have used only the black one on the side where the tweezers and toothpicks are? because when you pull out the knife they will already be ripped off. It's hard to keep these pieces in the classice for the same reason I've always reversed the splints on mine.

After snagging knife clips on dammed near anything that will snag them , and losing knives , I removed them from any knives that had them.

Soon we cannot call them serious army knives
We will have to call them Felix army knives

I was never a fan of clips, because of the reasons you mentioned. Hot spots, very uncomfortable in the hand.
Though it's ofcourse useful for having it vertical in the pocket and easy to grab.
Then again, I don't want my knives to be visible to Joe Public.

I purchased new scales with a clip attached when I broke mine, absolutely no problems with it other than fitting the scales back on.

@@FelixImmler just purchased a victorinox swiss tool x second hand for £50....curious as to what I can do with it in a bushcraft scenario compared to my other SWKs.

@@FelixImmler small question, do you have a video on maintenance? Got a 30+ year old victorinox, still sharpish but opens difficult etc. Too much trouser time (that sounded awful hahaha).
      Cheers from the Netherlands
