I miss the co-op feature of playing together. Driver amd rider for the items. Double dash had the best items too. I miss the anti-items box and each characters specific special item. Like peaches hearts that stole items.
The Wii version is so blurry in comparison to Double Dash and the constant sound effects in Tour are really annoying. 8DX looks really good, but my favorite will be Double Dash forever.
People complaining that the track is wider in 8DX yet they don’t realize that 1: the entire track would be offroad if it stayed narrow 2: the game is WAY more chaotic and it would be constantly getting hit.
But that’s part of the charm of the original! There would always be a banana/box there that’d you have to swerve around else you’d die, it was awesome. I totally get that it doesn’t work with MK8’s physics and player count though
Wasn't the grass just aesthetic in the og and Wii? I remember only slowing down at the mud, so seeing the much wider roads to me seemed made sense because they probably just got rid of the faux grass to avoid confusing newcomers into thinking the road was much narrower than it actually is
I miss the little faces on all the trees and smaller volcanoes in the background. They added a lot of charm to the course. I don't really get why the devs insist on making background details like that more generic and devoid of personality in MK8/Tour. It's the same with removing the dancing signs in Waluigi Stadium. I see that the trees right at the start still have faces in MK8, but the majority of them have been replaced with the same poor quality bland models that contribute to making the booster pass courses look a lot more plastic-y than those in the base game.
My favorite DK mountain course is in Mario Kart Wii since it’s easier to take that shortcut with the gap between the two patches of grass than in Mario Kart Double Dash.
DK Mountain is one of my favorite tracks in the whole series and is easily my favorite track from Double Dash! I’m so glad it made it into the BCP over Dino Dino Jungle! 😄
Unfortunately the course was more and more casualized. The track and its corners became wider, obastacles were removed and the track was flattened / leveled. Still, the original GCN version will be remembered as a course where pro gamers can show their capabilities.
and yes, that track (on GCN) left me with a headache when I was 6-7 years old haha, today I was lucky to run it in MK8D and great shit, nothing difficult like before🥲

The best change in 8DX is that you can finally trick off the actual mountain and not wooden ramps.
You can also dodge the red shell like you did in the first lap in MK8DX DLC.

My fav change is that the face on the volcano doesn’t look like sharpie anymore
Worst about it is you can't do the gap shortcut hardly anymore
Its kinda amazing how Double Dash Graphics havent aged at all
They are for sure playing on a emulator with the graphics improved

The ramps on Wii get you so much height and exhilaration
While also being slower than not taking the ramps (for some reason )

It’s a good track, but it’s probably the most overrated one behind Waluigi Stadium as far as how much Nintendo likes making remakes of it
