- The Yamaha Tenere 700 is a fantastic adventure bike, but like many motorcycles, its suspension is built to a budget. So, when Ohlins approached the Adventure Bike Rider team about upgrading the stock suspension on a T7 with brand spanking new Ohlins units front and rear, we jumped at the chance.
Find out how the adventure bike performed on and off road with the suspension upgrade, and see if its worth upgrading the springy bits at the front and back of your own motorcycle.

seems this is more of a sales pitch than a review
This was a long, enthusiastic,... Ohlins add.
“Only downside, £2500 !” Your review sounded like a PR persons script for the AD campaign.
It'd be interesting if someone retrofitted a 48mm WP fork (say the 990 adventure R with 265mm travel) on the T7. Now that would be an upgrade.
But is it any good for real Offroad like here in Australia.
We don’t want road bike suspension & it needs to deal with sand, rocks, mud etc.
We want a big WR450
Was the chaintensioner worn when recording the sound of the startup? Seems to me its starting to go... (first few rattles @ startup)
And now the Tenere costs the same or more then the KTM Adventure R?
Late reply, but yeah. Roughly 1800 euros, or more than 2 grand US. and you don't get the driver aids or added power the KTM has, but the T7 would still be more reliable.
Hello ABR team. Lovely location for testing, may I ask what area those green lanes were found in please? Thanks
Hey Tyler, they're in the area around Luton
@@ABRmagazine great thanks, might make a good day trip for me then 😁
“The only downside”, it’ll cost you the best part of well over £2000, which ABR failed to mention.
Yeah, think what Yamaha could have done if they had this option from the factory. Not as stock, but a discounted option to add 👏🏻
@@tshansen Yeah, that would’ve been a great idea Thomas. Maybe Yamaha will bring out a special edition, with the Öhlins fitted as standard, as they already do the Rally Edition. Obviously the price of the bike would go up, but it would most likely be cheaper to buy a special edition, than retro fitting a kit. 😉
@@tshansen at the rates that Yamaha charges it would have been well more than this one and be done by a generic mechanic not a Ohlins specialist ;)
i think id start with just upgrading to proper spring rates and try that before going all in ??
How much $ for that set up, I know it's not cheap but I'm sure it's worth it
Hi Alf, the front forks were £900 plus VAT, the rears were £849 plus VAT.
Is this suspension available in the US? Just curious what the cost is in usd
This is too expensive, new springs alone will be good enough for most riders.
Agree!
Just to ask, putting the Ohlins shock on affect your insurance?
No, but good installed ofcourse
How much were the front and back adjustments? If doing one piece at a time, start with the back first?
Hi Tahir, the front forks were £900 plus VAT, the rears were £849 plus VAT.
No,no,no ....the only downside is most likely 4 500 euro....
What are the bags installed on that moto? brand and model please
They're Kriega OS soft panniers
Price? Source??
Wilbers, Bitubo, Hagon & some others....Ohlins seems to be overpriced by a significant percentage; marketing/big name tax?
How much?
Hi Michael, the front forks were £900 plus VAT, the rears were £849 plus VAT.
@@ABRmagazine i tried to find the name of the damer and shock, may I have the part number
After spending more money on suspension, one realizes he could hav eas well purchased a KTM 790 for cheaper... ;-)
but your shocks would still be inferior ;-)
And you be stranded in the middle of nowhere when your Ktm breaks down.
That was the most redundant and repetitive intro ever
What a bunch of bs
