Magnificent ! Never ceases to amaze me just how much great music Mr Peel showcased back in the day.
Great band and they played so well. The vocals are fantastic.
Literally wore out 'London 0 Hull 4' back in the day. The cassette sounded like a deaf dog begging to a mushy beat by the time I replaced it. And I was still listening to it! 'Johannesburg' from 'The People Who Grinned' still gives me chills every time I listen to it.
Man, sometimes, this whole Internet thing really pays off. Came across this randomly and now I'm going to be smiling all day. Thanks, fellas, once again.
Bought my first Rickenbacker guitar in 87 after listening to this brilliant music.
Saw them at the International in 86 support from the Proclaimers… bunked in, there were fisticuffs as the crowd was gobbing on Heaton, he was having none of it and lashed ale on the offenders then it got a bit handbags, lighting stands and mic stands were pulled over and threats issued… peace broke out and it was a stellar show. Heaton left the stage with… Thank you Manchester, Liverpool last night were a far better crowd…
These songs encapsulate everything great about this band, both thematically and sonically. A truly special band, that one day, history will redeem.
truly, i hope so... been listenin to them since i'm 10 and have yet to meet someone in person who is a fan.. so underrated
I recorded that off the radio April 86, still got the BASF C90 with it on. 👌
Incredible recording quality. I've been listening to the Housemartins since 1986 and their songs still hold up. Thanks for uploading.
Took London 0 Hull 4 into work in the early 80s. I worked in a factory and everybody loved it. We had a big ghetto blaster in the corner and definetly made us all work harder and happier. Toe tapping tremendous times. WB Alloys: Coatbridge was the factory. A wee shout out for my ex workmates.
Your library us very very impressive compadre LOTS fantastic Music... Thank you Thank you
As a six year old the vthis music used get me hyper. My mom loved the housemartins and was always in the cassette player.
Energetic,spiritual,uplifting. Pure pop.
Outstanding great !!!
Never will forget this great band !!!
Thanx !!!
brilliant just brillant
Excellent recording!
Mein Gott, die Burschen hatte ich ja voll vergessen. Die haben mich meine halbe Jugend unterhalten !
Me too! Only rediscovering them now, but I'm so glad to find they're just as good as I remember; and I can appreciate them even more.
great session
Only 12k views - why!!!
Get up off our knee's What a classic!!
Superb version. Better than LP.
Brilliant
I liked them
i miss them, in all concept...
At first listen I thought they were just a Smiths copy but the lyrics were far more interesting -- Morrissey charmed pimply teenagers hiding in their rooms, Heaton made them all want to go out and fight the system.
Awesome. Saw TBS about 12 years ago in Philly and PH was lit. Not as jangly as the Housemartins but great as well.
Easy to understand why Norman Cook was the genius in this band, but all of them are still adorable in 2021 for me
Are you being sarcastic?
@@flachi32 Hey! And I will always love Paul`s voice, too.
@@marsch8276 and lyrics
Cook was the engine for the housemartins
His bass playing was the glue - outstanding
Perfect sync with drums
Drummer outstanding too
