I like this version, but it has no tropical vibe--maybe that's not bad, because I did like it. It's like a NYC band LONGING for Kokomo, rather than a steel drum band living it. Also, I hope no one minds me saying Lilly Wood is beautiful.

The melodies are all right. Chill vibes. A different approach. Whatever it is that's making some people apparently upset by this version is left to their own personal standard or opinion. But if you actually like it, then don't get distracted or be discouraged by the negatives. I'll be one of the few people to say I can appreciate this one. I like it.
And of note, Kokomo "has appeared on several worst songs of all time lists..." You can Google that. It's not that special other than it is a song by the Beach Boys.
They went out of their way to ignore all the interesting chord changes.
It's like they just sung the words without thinking about anything. It's a soulless cover.

Upon further review, the instrumentals are fine, but the lyrics and the way the woman butchered the way the original song was sung ruined it. And near the end, it sounds like she's saying "Damn, eh, Kokomo", instead of what I presume should be "Down in Kokomo". This cover could have been done right, but all the changes to the lyrics really prevented that.
