Fun fact: The Stahlhelm (The WW2 German Helmet) was the best in the war, and for quite a long time afterwards. The only reason the design wasn't ever used was it's connection with Nazi Germany.
It‘s an M42 specifically (bent out edge) and for some reason it is missing the liner or at least the split pins but Idk how the liner would stay in.

Actually,its shape being very effective at protecting soldiers from shrapnel inspired the designs of many modern helmets,such as American PASGT, French SPECTRA, Italian SEPT2, German M92, Croatian BK3, etc.
The stahlhelm was invented in 1916 during the Great War to replace the pickelhuabe (spike helm) and really shouldn’t be associated with the Wehrmacht since the helmet was in service before ww2

Because millions of soldiers collected war souvenirs. Rifles, tools, patches and uniforms/armor were all brought back home by all sides. Some people even took tank and truck parts as curiosities, and treasure hunters regularly unearth specimens.
A German Bunker was recently found completely intact and sealed, with legible documents surviving.

The guy who sent that helmet probably had it as a war trophy from his grandfather its was very common in WW2 for american soldiers to take things like that. it makes for excellent storytelling.

Italian weapons made by the Beretta Factory (Mainly their SubMachine Guns) where highly desirable collectibles due to the fact the weapons where of such quality that even after the Germans took over the factories when they occupied Northern Italy they let them continue with their production, yes the germans which are known to make magnificent weapons (Do not see the Ferdinand Tank Destroyer that was Porsche's idea) wanted to continue with it's production.
Fun fact the ww2 helmet is not illegal at all and its a very valuble antique and could go for a lot if you maybe took it to a museum or an antique show

I have a similar experience during 7th grade (America btw) we were talking about that particular war in history class and my science teacher brought (as like a show and tell) a GENUINE, AUTHENTIC flag from that particular military group and for some odd reason I was in awe, like "to think those still exist and I get to see it is amazing to me" anyway, just thought about sharing that. Last Stahlhelm I saw in person had a bullet hole in it. It belonged to one of my ROTC friends and his grandfather was the one that made said hole in it and collected it from the body as a souvenir.
To answer your question about the moonshine, it is legal in small quantities for personal consumption so you are safe.... as for selling the moonshine, well.... it varies from state to state, but you only have a small amount so you should be fine.
I'm the one who sent it. Over here on the east coast, moonshine is a big business now. All mostly legally but I have heard companies like Ole Smoky haven't touched ground much out west. I figured there are prob still laws against it out there. The harder part was getting it through the USPS without them noticing it was alcohol.

All jokes aside, that is a serious collector item. I got called out for owning a German boy scout knife with the "symbol" on it. But it is a piece of history and nothing is wrong with owning or displaying it. Anytime someone asks me why I own certain countries items, I tell them: I don't support their ideology or actions but I love the history behind it.
Seriously tho, that kind of history leaves me intrigued.
