We were able to get out before this last front and the bite in the late afternoon was awesome on big snappers. Check out the size of this mango! tampabayfishing...
Thanks Chad and Todd great stuff. I'm from N.E. Florida and the inshore fishing in Tampa is different here. The need for I- Pilot, sonar and gps is necessary here. I've had to purchase for my flats boat since moving here. Thanks for the info it's really helped me with the transition.
What size jigs would you recommend I purchase from you for snapper fishing around the skyway? You appear to like the little ones that a lot of people use down at the keys for yellow tails and they the larger ones you have in the shop. I would like to order an assortment from you and would like to try what you recommend. thanks, Tom
Never got a hogfish but then again we never use shrimp. May have to try it but I know it is not easy. My biggest gag is 36" but had one one that I got up 3 different times that dwarfed that 36" fish.
@@mkaz08 yeah we have caught several keeper size red snapper and red grouper inside. They aren't as plentiful as the gags and mangrove snapper but they are there.
Yes we attach a leader to the braid and use a loop knot to tie the jig onto the leader and it is in some of our previous videos but we can do another one. Thanks for watching.
We do fish somewhat close to the skyway and then work our way into the bay. Trolling works great in the bay. We just don't do it simply because it bores us, LOL. We never go offshore because we do so well inside the bay. Thanks for watching.
Good fishing, Yeowzirr. Going nut, watching you too, with some of the most beautiful fish that I've seen in a long time. That means Grilling time, Smoker time, and cant wait Brother. Man,,,, Hey you both take good care and Ya'll be safe out there. Best to your family, get ready for this cold front. See Ya.
Todd did i understand correctly, yall fished the middle of the channel? Awesome 23'' snapper that gives the rest of us something to measure up to and track our progress.. Whats ur biggest Gag?
Yes we fish in the middle of the channel but we are not anchored. We are using our spot lock trolling motor to keep us in the spot so when a big ship comes through we can easily get out of the way. My biggest gag inside of Tampa Bay is 36". Thanks for watching!!!
@@TampaBayFishingChannel Thanks for the prompt response. Todd to be honest I don't want to tangle with a 36" nothing coming off a reef. WOW, I know that experience must bring back fond memories. last question, did you catch that 36" Gag with 8 lb braid and 20 lb Floral? Or should i carry a pole with a little heavier fishing line? Thanks Todd for the help!!!
@@charleswashington7576 we caught that fish on 8# braid and 40# leader at the time. It was when I was still guiding so I was using heavier leader on big spinning rods. Yeah it was a hell of a fish. We caught 18 and 15# grouper that day also!
@@TampaBayFishingChannel Thanks Todd, that's clever. I also remember you mentioning that at your seminar before last. I'm now waiting for the upholstery shop to finish my cushions and I'll be out this week trying out all these methods and techniques. I'll keep you updated thanks you again.
@@TampaBayFishingChannel Guys I almost forgot, I checked out on your website through PayPal. I ordered a pack of 1 oz mango orange jig heads, go Chad. 😀
Hey just wanna say i love your channel...i also do a good bit of bottom fishing in south carolina ive got the state record yellowtail 10.8lbs, it gives me chills everytime you and chad hang one of those freight trains and can't turn him...anyway im coming down in a week to apollo beach for my hunny moon and was wondering if there were any good structure in that area or should i run futher down towards the skyway...also could i find decent bait in the area...any info would be appreciated!!!
Yes there is some great structure starting around the mouth of the Little Manatee and running to the skyway. The closer you get to the skyway the more structure there is. Bait is most likely going to be at the skyway pier because the water temps have dropped. That is where we will be catching it this week. Thanks for watching and congrats on the honeymoon!
The fishing is actually really good. Depending on where you are moving too will depend on the species you will be targeting. Winter is my favorite time of year to fish in Tampa Bay. I have had more 100 fish days in the winter than any other time!
Going to try and fish the reefs tomorrow when the wind dies down think I will be hitting the south east tampa bridge reef and the bulkhead..I hope I get some gags before dec 31st
@@TampaBayFishingChannel I didnt make it out..it was to nasty and cold ended up going to the flats in Miguel bay to find some kids stuck in the mud with their boat ended up spending about 3 hours pulling them out and towing them to terra ceia
Do you have a video of how you rig up your gear for grouper. Had some trouble yesterday and would like to know what you recommend. I started dropping leader size and started getting bites but kept breaking off
@@TampaBayFishingChannel No problem! We just took a different approach and used some big plugs near the shallows in Hernando. Less than 5ft of water and we had a blast! Check your fb page for the pics!
Nice box of beasts! We'll be down there in 7 days. My fishing plan is to head North out of Holmes Beach and look for your boat. :D Wish I had my roundabout down there... she's inside for the PA winter though. Great vid, thanks guys.

@@TampaBayFishingChannel thanks man I am in Jersey but visiting Marco Island for 2 weeks in December. I bought 50 of your jigheads to use down there.

Hey Todd, just wondering winter time or cooler conditions do you prefer pinfish or white bait?
I want to have both.
Now that's a full fish box!! Well done!
Thank you!
Hi Todd , how are you keeping your boat in position when you fish that deep ? Trolling motor or are you adrift ?
We have a minn kota spot lock trolling motor
Do you guys usually fish around the skyway or away from it? How does trolling work in the bay and how far offshore do you guys go?

23 inch snapper dang, congrats 👊
Thanks! It surely is a beast for inshore waters!
Is there a way to find these spots without a fish finder? Those things are expensive. You guys are amazing
It’s very difficult without a fish finder.
