This album is on par with Shogun and Ascendancy. God tier music.
MTI there are only 3 songs on this album that I like. Shogun and Ascendancy was Trivium's peak. They developed their own sound and refined it to the point of selling out directly after Shogun
I agree, in my opinion Sin and the Sentence is better than Ascendancy.

NOW I'm super interested in what the next album will sound like based on this track, if their goal is to continue to try new things from one album to the next who knows what the fuck the next album will sound like but I hope it's similar to this one. This album stands on its own in their catalog, it really is a mix of their other albums and doesn't sound to much like the others.

Yeah, he has a great tone! Always hard to get a good bass sound for cutting through metal guitars. Amazed that he plays all his lines with fingers alone, as not many players can play at this speed without a pick...

Vengeance falls and silence in the snow were FAR from trivium standards. I get they were tryina branch out and do something different but it wasn't for me haha.

Yeah the Scream is VF but the technical element is more to shogun-ish af. SITS is actually stuff from Shogun era.Only SITS element in this song is the clean vocal only.

The mix of aggressiveness and quick melodic vocals in this song reminds me of Inception of the End, but I like the latter a lot more! That song is perfect!

I think it's the only song in In Waves that maintained the Shogun vibe. Probably that's the reason it's so cool!

Kassadyn I think it's because of the production. It has better sound quality than Shogun through my headphones, like Vengeance Falls quality
It's funny, I absolutely hate the production on Vengeance Falls. Different strokes I guess.
Sean Haberlin VF had miles better sound quality/production than their earlier works, also better vocal work, get yourself an M50X. I couldn't even emulate the godly guitar tone in VF compared to Shogun where I could just plug in my 7 string and basic Tantrum pedal.
The mix of clean vocals and yelling is perfect on this album. Very nice.
