    I remember when 'Surfing with the Alien' dropped. I was at a party and the music was incredible, just groovy and smooth, rocking stuff. This was the CD era and after asking about the music, the guy hosting the 'get together' grabs this CD with a cartoon drawing on the front. I thought it was so cool. I became a fan that day and I turned others onto his stuff, too.
    The song that has ALWAYS blown my doors off though is 'Flying in a Blue Dream' from the album AFTER 'surfing'. It's like he's talking with the guitar.

However, I think Kirk's frenetic shred style is much better than Dave's! A good example of this, compare the demo tape recordings of The Prince (Mustaine) to the Garage Inc. version (Kirk). Kirk's intro solo is technically and melodically superior.

    Kirk Hammett was a guitar God to me back when Kill em All was first released. I bought the album because I liked the name Metallica and the cool album cover. When I got it home and played it, I was blown away at how fast the solos were. I couldn't get enough of Kirk's leads. I didn't know how Kirk got.the wah sound. I found out what a wah pedal was and tried one out at this hole in the wall guitar shop in Chula Vista CA. I bought it and took it home to my fender amp with a distortion peda and my knock off Strat and fell in love. Kirk is one of my top 3 biggest guitar influences besides Ace Frehly and EVH.

    • @Atlas65
      @Atlas65 6 месяцев назад

      You are an idi0t that just repeats what others say. If you go over Metallica's discography, you can hear that Kirk uses so many more scales then pentatonic. anyways. Listen to Ride the Lightning album, Master of Puppets, Justice. Not at all just pentatonic. Even on Black Album he is not just using the pentatonic scale. have you listened to the solo in Unforgiven without having your ears full of $hit.. Ok if you have, you can hear that that solo for example is far away from only having pentatonic scale... Anyways, it is not about how many scale you and use that makes a great solo. it is the composition, taste, and feel what suits the song, and that is where Kirk Hammett buries almost all other guitar player in metal in. Even on Load and Re-Load he comes up with the best way to suit the song and still make it interesting.
