【レザークラフト】革包丁ケースの作り方 / [leather craft] Making a Japanese leather knife sheath

- 『レザークラフトの基本』という動画で使用した、イタリアンレザー「ペコスハード」の残りを使って、革包丁ケースを作成しました。床革を挟み込んで空間を作っているので、包丁の出し入れがしやすくてお気に入りです。こういったケースを作ると、道具に対する愛着も増しますね。あ、そろそろ包丁研がなきゃなぁ。
以前はこういったケース類はハギレを使って適当に作ってしまっていましたが、道具ケースも丁寧に作ってやると良い勉強になります。
===動画に登場するクリップについて===
こちらは洋裁用のクリップ。名称は「立ちクリップ」の他、「立体クリップ」「ワンタッチクリップ」など複数あるようです。私は楽天市場内にある安藤ミシン商会さんで購入させていただきました。サイズも複数あるようですが、動画内で私が使用しているのは「2インチ用」。75mmの厚さまで挟めるものです。使用する際は複数個あるとさらに便利だと思います。

手持ちの革包丁「秀次(39mm)」用のケース（鞘）を作りました。全く同じ包丁を2本（「漉き用」と「断裁用」）持っているので、ケースを色違いに。ホックでしっかり止まっているので、安心して道具箱に放り込めます。

鞘の内側はトコノールの代わりに青棒を擦りつけて、簡易的に研げるようにしてみました
美しいすぎる。ただのカバーが芸術品になってる

hi again, can I know if your stitching chisel is 3mm or 4mm? and the size of the thread too?
Hi,Joyce! I use 3mm diamond sititching chisel in this video.
The thread is Vinymo MBT #5 (polyester thread). The thickness of this thread is about 0.5～0.6mm.

先ほどHAKUさんの革包丁の研ぎ方動画を参考に不器用ながら研いでみました。過去一番の切れに感動です。今まで完全ど素人な研ぎ方だったので、本当に勉強になっています。HAKUさんの動画は本当にありがたいです。ありがとうございます。

Hello Haku, thank you for the excellent video. Can you share your technique for staining and varnishing the wood handles? I have the same knives and the Kyoshin Elle ones. Thank you!
Thank you for your comment. I will cut and re-shape the handle of my diamond awl near the future. I'll try to shoot the video when I color the handle. But I'm not good at woodworking, so I'm wondering if my video helps you.
For reference, the handle of this knife is coated with a mixture of "mahogany" and "walnut" water based stain. It is sanded, coated with blended stain 2 ~ 3 times, and finally coated with urethane varnish.

It's easy to use for me and very reasonably priced.
@@haku-handmadeleatherworks-5765 I have this knife and actually it is very sharp. I bought is from the maker, because leathercraft tools did not have that time. I got another knife yesterday from Leathercraft knife from Leathercraftools Skiving Knife SOURYU 36mm(Damascus blade). Looks great. Want to make a sheath a looking for a modern sheath. I have a similar sheath-like you made above.

自作でプレス機作れそう
作ろうと思ったのですが自作工房さんのような精度を出す自信がなくて断念。市販のハンドプレス機を買いました😓
all that trouble yet it isn't a tight fit because you failed to locate the hole without first inserting the knife and pulling the strap tight. nice work.
