.. my granny used to make it... She soaks and grind it by hands...yummy.. it was 25 years back but the taste and texture with crated coconut and jaggery comes to my mouth... She used force me to drink 2 glasses at least... I miss Paruthipaal as well my granny...
You don't even need to speak the lingo to communicate, your smile speaks words you can't I always think it's better atmosphere to go out late at night and the best foods come out
Well said E T! 😄 The late night food scene was incredible in Madurai- it was almost busier at night than during the day. And the variety of foods on offer was indeed fantastic. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, hope you enjoyed it 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Your hometown ROCKS! We are so happy we got to visit Madurai- the food is insane and the people are so friendly. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, hope you enjoy the rest of our Madurai series. Cheers, Sheena
This was perfect because you hit up three iconic spots but all the videos I've seen are by locals so it's quite interesting to get an outsider's perspective. *_Koorai Kadai_* - There are many videos featuring this place but never have I seen a crowd like that! 😂 Gosh. Glad you guys powered through. The chicken roast mistake is something we've discussed recently. Love it. One of my blunders...I went to a pastry shop in Germany and ordered schwarzwälder kirschtorte (famous Black Forest cake) but ended up getting kirsch streuselkuchen (crumb cake). Kirsch means cherry. Apparently my German pronunciation is dreadful. 😐😂 It was delicious nonetheless. *_Prema Vilas_* - I love that you were given a couple of wooden paddles but went in with your fingers instead. 👍 Same with a recent biryani. Staff placed a spoon in front of you. Nope. Going in au naturel! The segment with the ladies was special indeed. Well done.
😆 Koorai Kadai was raging! I’m glad it came across that way in the video as it’s sometimes hard to show just how busy a place is. Haha the best mistake we could have made- that chicken was fantastic. 😆 did you manage to sample the famous kirschtorte in the end? Stuff the wooden paddles 🤣 I was so keen on getting to touch that halwa- it was a wonderful texture- like slime 😄 It was neat getting to capture that chat with those ladies on camera- they were an absolute hoot! Thanks for watching and commenting Tosh, so glad you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Sheena
Hi Tosh, they sure do capture all the special moments and give us the feel for the place. Its not easy to do transporting someone via a lens but they nail it. The moment with the ladies at the Halwa store was the most heart warming moment, even my teenage Daughter was touched by that. India is definitely Thomas and Sheenas "Happy Place". The wrong order of the Cake in Germany sounded just as delicious!!!
@Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena Unfortunately I did not try the Black Forest Cake during that trip, Sheena. Had a couple of pfannkuchen of course so called it good on the sweets the remainder of the trip. 😀
@@tosht2515: How long ago where you in Germany? Which part of the world do you call home?. You have had some lovely past adventures. Everyone loves cake! It makes us happy.
Sorry to hear you catch a cold Sheena. I hope that drink really helped. I must say between watching you guys and also Luke Martin in India i think i put on a kg just looking at all the buttery/ghee goodness. Im thinking l'll get my cholesterol checked before i go to India 😂😂. Love the crazy atmosphere of the last restaurant. Loving this series too. Stay safe on those tight laneways and get well soon Sheena x
Feeling heaps better thanks Kellie 😄😍 Maybe that drink did help! Hahah so much ghee is used but they say it’s good for gut health so that’s a win! Thanks for watching and commenting- so happy you’re enjoying this series. Cheers, Sheena

Cardamom and ginger make the paruthi paal sound like a winner. And over 90 years serving it - wow!
It was so delicious guys! I’m sure you would have loved it 🤤
.. my granny used to make it... She soaks and grind it by hands...yummy.. it was 25 years back but the taste and texture with crated coconut and jaggery comes to my mouth... She used force me to drink 2 glasses at least... I miss Paruthipaal as well my granny...
You don't even need to speak the lingo to communicate, your smile speaks words you can't
I always think it's better atmosphere to go out late at night and the best foods come out
Well said E T! 😄 The late night food scene was incredible in Madurai- it was almost busier at night than during the day. And the variety of foods on offer was indeed fantastic. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one, hope you enjoyed it 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Good to see you explore the foods from my hometown
@Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
Unfortunately I did not try the Black Forest Cake during that trip, Sheena. Had a couple of pfannkuchen of course so called it good on the sweets the remainder of the trip. 😀
@Brilliant But Blue That kirsch streuselkuchen was indeed very tasty. I'm looking at the pic I took of it. Not only delicious but quite beautiful.
