Love from tamilnadu(south india)
I wish we have these kinds of South Indian food in Malaysia. The Malaysian Indian food originates from South India. Historically, majority of the Malaysian Indians have roots that can be traced back to South India. 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So true Su-Ling, we love that South Indian food is so popular in Malaysia. It's been great to be here and explore the food culture more in depth too- everything is so delicious! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena
You're most welcome, Thomas and Sheena. 🙃🙃🙃
Su-Ling Chia You can find most of this across all indian restaurants in Malaysia,go for banana leaf la. Noodles itself was probabbly introduced to india in the last few decades,so Malaysian Indians history going back to before world wars kind of evoled from Malay + Chinese style noodle cooking. Putu Mayam is different to mee hon though.
Senan Kamalakanan it looks more exciting there cos of the huge population, they have to cater to more people, you can see so many people passing by. They have to prepare the food in larger quantity it's so much fun to watch besides being yummy ya... Yummmsss... :))
@Su-Ling Chia I would love to visit Malaysia and taste Malay, Chinese, South Indian and Bengali foods which are available over there. Is Bengali food available in Malaysia? :)
You guys are amazing. I lived in Chennai for two years in 2003. Brought back so many memories. They have good restaurants too. Try Chettinad cuisine. Great job as usual. You guys deserve more subscribers!!!
Thanks so much for your kind words mate! We loved Chennai- the food, the people- we felt so at home there 😄 hope our videos bring back lots of delicious memories for you. You must miss the food! We eat a Chettinad meal in our next video- it was amazing 😍 Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! Cheers, Sheena
Chennai belongs to a state called Tamilnadu. It has century old history of traders from diffrent parts of the world dropping in for trading on various goods. They brought with them their spices, food, culture, tradition.. Enterprising tamil businessmen went to far east countries, carrying their own traditions. So the state has become a melting pot of sorts. There is no Tamil food, or indian food as such, because it changes in every 100 miles with mindboggling variations, twists and turns. Keep an eye on historical facts associated with the place and food while you enjoy this.
National geography has rated Chennai's food as the 2nd best in the world
Wow!! That's awesome Yugi Maxi! I wish we could have spent more time in Chennai exploring the food- it was such an amazing city and everything we ate was awesome. Thanks for watching and commenting on this one. Hope you enjoy the other Chennai content we have coming up. Cheers, Sheena

There are few videos on Chennai's street food scene and I'm very glad that yours is among the even fewer ones that makes a Chennaite feel this nostalgic. I can't believe that you covered Karpagambal mess. You made me jump because I know that place so well! :) I just regretting that you didn't try the bhutta or the sundal at the beach and maybe a typical full scale Tamil breakfast would have also been nice.
Hi Varsha Narayanan, thank you so much for the lovely comment and we're so glad you enjoyed the video. Karpagambal Mess was great- in fact all the messes we visited in Chennai were awesome. We love the city so much- the people, the food- it was our kind of place! Hope you like the other Chennai videos we have coming- 3 more to come- although there was still so much we missed out on. We can't wait to get back here and film even more! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena 😄

You missed having "Atho" and "Masala egg" famous noodles of North Chennai. Though this was introduced by people who came from Burma 60 years back, now it is very much Chennai's local food These will be available in Parrys 2nd line beach road opposite to beach station. you have lot of "Atho" shops and any one will guide you. you get both "Autho" and "Masala Egg" there.. Also dont miss Plantain Pith Stem Soup...which is served along with it..Dont forget to add soup to "Atho"
If you have any plans to visit Chennai again, Please don't miss "Atho"
Atho is also available in many parts of Chennai, but famous is Parrys 2nd line beach road

Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena 👍🏻
The local shop there is called "Sundari Akka Kadai"...
Sundari is her name, Akka means elder sister and Kadai translates to shop..
Go to the Marina and any local can guide you to that shop!
You can also find more youtube videos about her shop..
Preston MARKET gets both- KING fish is different .. SPANISH mackerel is like ALASKAN crab.. versatile wild sea fish for curry, grill and shallow fry...
Really love your videos!!
I would really recommend you to visit Northeast India. You would be surprised to see it's culture, cuisine and language. But India is so vast and has so many languages. Each state has it's own unique language.

So happy you enjoyed it mate! We love food hunting and filming in India! 😍
Mate, I'm so stoked that you guys are touring South India.
I'm from the state of Kerala, now living in Australia. You guys definitely gotta head over to Kerala and try the local street food there.
Chennai in Tamil Nadu is predominantly vegetarian and if you are heading over to Hyderabad, it's mostly lamb and mutton.
If you want chili beef (the good stuff) and Porotta (the flaky roti bread) you guys definitely need to pop over to Kerala.
All the very best for your travels. Be safe and keep up the good work. Lots of love and thumbs up from a fellow Aussie-Indian.
Hi Nitin Toms, thanks so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed the video! Ahhhhh we love Kerala! We were there 6 years ago and are so gutted we didn't make it there on this visit. We lived in Melbourne for 5 years but are originally from NZ 😄 Hope you like the other content we have coming up in our India series mate. Thanks for taking the time to say hi! Big love back! +Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena k
Nice one guys, i grew up in Chennai though i have heard about Sundari akka kadai in the beach never got a chance to visit that place. You have introduced me to lot of places i havent been to, i am creating my own list for my next vacation to Chennai.
Hi Anthony Lawrence, thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment. We're so happy that our videos will help with your eating itinerary when you're next in Chennai! We loved the city so much- the people were so friendly and the food was amazing! We hope you like the other Chennai videos we have coming up. Cheers, Sheena 😄
That was a mountain of rice indeed. 😳 When I know I'm going to eat all day, I always ask for half rice. Did this many times in Thailand with the street dishes. Got some looks and one cart lady who spoke perfect English said she had never had such a request ever. 😂 Awesome food tour, guys. Everything looked quite tasty. 👍
😂 you know what Tosh, that makes so much sense- why has this never crossed my mind before? I think it's because I'm a greedy guts!! That plate weighed a ton! Everything we ate in the video was great- Chennai has such an incredible food culture. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, so happy you enjoyed it. Cheers, Sheena 😄
I have always been super weird about food waste. People claim this but I’m really a stickler. Easy to take leftovers home or to the office but not so while on the road. In CDMX I accidentally ordered five churros. As soon as they arrived I gave three to the folks next to me. In Portugal where just about everything comes with chips/fries I tried to explain my half request but the servings were always still huge. My Spanish must not be a good as I think. 😀
😂😂😂 I’m sure your Spanish is brilliant! We abhor food waste too and we 99.9% of the time finish everything we order. Often we’ll have big breaks between filming sections of a video and walk it off- means we get to do a bit of sightseeing at the same time! 😄😆
😂 Yup. My Spanish is way better than my Portuguese. I'm glad you caught that. Watched this terrific video again and I'm still amazed at the seafood. That was a U.S. portion that's for sure. I know you know that the size of food and drink here in the states can be quite ridiculous especially at the thousands of chains and convenience restos.
😂😂😂😂
It sure was a U.S sized portion! I remember eating a meal once in San Francisco and only being able to finish a quarter of it 😳 Crazy!!! Thanks so much for watching Tosh- we fell in love with Chennai and its food so had an absolute blast filming the videos. Hope our enthusiasm for the place comes across in the videos and that you enjoy the other 3 we have coming up from here. Have a great weekend mate! Cheers, Sheena

Food in Chennai, I have fond memories. The biriyani culture is taking the sheen of Vegetarian food, but Chennai is a magical place for food lovers... especially the Temple food is a totally different experience. Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore are the places to eat in TN :-) other cities, towns please excuse :-)
We agree mate! Chennai is such a great city for food lovers. We love Tamil Nadu- hope we can get back to see more of it. Hope you like our Madurai series too. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena

Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena
So not true. Have you ever been to Punjab? You'll get free delicious food in Gurudwara Harminder Sahab. When I went to Kashmir my Driver brought me Yakni from his home and even invited me to dinner. But I found Tamil Nadu to be quite unwelcoming. The rates are severely overpriced and people are quite rude. Kerela is much better though.
Stop dividing India everyone in India treat guests as a god..! 😊
Pyskotic don't tell that all r equal im from salem north indian dish also nice
Pyskotic wright 👍

Chennai was my first stop in the south part of India! It's so cool to see other people's experiences there. I was only there a day (vlogged it, on my channel if you're interested lol, subtle not subtle plug) but I feel like there's so much stuff to be seen there (I mean that's all of India for you) and so I'm catching up on stuff I didn't see by watching other people's vlogs 😂
