I was very pleased to see the hy(y)par shells. They were and still are special. I first thought... well, the construction here was not-so-great. Then someone told me how the corners are bent on purpose destroying a perfectly fine, functional, flat and plane square roofing section. But, now having heard about this and viewed it from the Dutch point of view, I guess it is okay to consider the Tilbury station as art, and maybe even a national monument... much like the Leaning Tower of Pizza in Italy is not an erect, cylindral tower, but gives you something to think about and then call a mistake..'art'. It is not the best shape for a pizzeria. Howerer, if you are going to try and build a pizzeria, you could probably do worse ...like instead of a secure foundation with metal, use wood, and get a nasty splinter in your finger. Ik heb bijna een jaar gependeld tussen Dordrecht en den Bosch, en er waren vaak vertragingen van de toen nog stoptrein Breda-Den Bosch-(Utrecht) door goederentreinen die voorrang kregen, en ik heb ook heel vaak op het station op vertraagde treinen richting Dordrecht of den Bosch staan wachten, dus ja, ik het het dak vaker en langer gezien dan me lief is.

This British viewer loves the roof at Tilburg station, which I have visited, I like in particular the fact that the roof also covers the taxi rank and bus station.
Meester, bij 57:08 wordt onterecht de naam: Tba aan het empl. toegekend. Dat moet natuurlijk Vga (Vught aansluiting) zijn. Verder weer een top video en is het voor mij als oud Baanwerker leuk om de oude baanvak(ken) en empl. waar ik tot aan mijn pensioen gewerkt heb terug te zien.

Leuke video! Is het ook mogelijk dat u ooit een dienst zal krijgen waarin u de hele rit zal rijden van Dordrecht naar Arnhem?
Dat kan altijd maar volgens mij zit deze rit op dit moment niet in mijn rooster.
I'm normally not a fan of modern architecture, but this roof design actually has some merit to it, being at once efficient, functional, and reasonably attractive. Rainwater is naturally gathered at the supports, where inconspicuous drain pipes can easily be installed. Even the use of concrete is limited to the areas where concrete actually has structural advantages (it's strong in compression, but not in shear or tension) and forms only a small fraction of the overall structure. When the concrete inevitably deteriorates with age, it should be a relatively simple matter to jack up each node of the roof in turn and replace the pillar. This consideration for the future in notably absent in many "modern" designs.
I think many modern designs are built to last just a few decades anyway..

01:34 - that's a really strange effect to the sides of the train. One one side a person seems to be caught in a transporter beam or something and vanishes.
Sounds like the cab on the Dutch Flirts are a bit noisy. Is that just due to the camera (and microphone) position or is it just plain loud air movers?

I selected the lowest air flow ventilation setting. Yes, noisy.. The effect at the beginning comes with the trick to remove the 50Hz flickering of those modern lighting..
