There are many major issues with this sentence.
1) The case was heard in a magistrates court rather than a Crown court.
2) The Judge stated he posed no risk at all to the public despite pre sentencing reports stating he posed a medium risk to the public.
3) it was accepted as a mitigating factor for his behaviour that he was upset at not getting into Oxford University as a student.
4) The judge accepted that payments he made were merely gifts and were not payments made for recieving images.

He pleaded guilty which obviates a jury, and under sentencing guidelines he wouldn't get longer than six months (the maximum sentence a magistrate can give). There is a backlog for crown court cases, due to a shortage of judges. Having the case tried in the crown court, would have been pointless.

I an a similar age to Edwards and I will bet everything I own that if it was me instead of Edwards I would be on my way to prison as we speak. I am not a household name, I doubt the people in my street even know my name, I am a nobody really, but I bet I and almost every other man like me would have gone to prison over this. Uk will always try to give suspended sentences to pdfiles. Always has, always will. It's because the pdfiles are in the upper levels of parliament and the judiciary. That's why the Uk protects them. It's a lost country now

What the hell is going on! Edwards accomplice Alex Williams got a 12 month custodial sentence in March. Look up what constitutes category A images. They're the most vile things involving babies, toddlers and small children. Edwards has admitted to it, he's not going to stop, they never do. It's time to reintroduced capital punishment for this type of crime in my opinion.
