Hello. It's time to sum up. The bathhouse is ready and finally bathed in it. However, you need to start with something else. This time I was in the skin of a chimney sweep. I cleaned the chimney, cleaned the furnace body and removed all the ash from the ash pan. Traction has definitely improved! It beautiful The next stage of the work was to chop more wood, because today I have two stoves! One is a stationary brick oven, the second is a camping stove. So with the help of the second furnace, I heated the bathhouse today. A bathhouse? Hardly, more like a sauna. In any case, she scored her 78 degrees Celsius and pleased me. Now I'm as clean as ever. I was also pleased and surprised at the same time by the weather! It changed several times during the day. While I was walking to the dugout, the sun was shining, it became cloudy in the forest, then the sun again, then a snow curtain with a hurricane wind, then the sun again, then a blizzard again) Look and you will be surprised that this happens at the end of March. In general, I had a great time and I wish you at least a little to feel the range of feelings that I felt. Enjoy watching!

Greetings Alex! I am an old Grandmother. I have a duggestion: just a touch of vanilla and cinnamon added to that egg and milk mixture will make the bread savory. You will love it!
👍👌
May the gods bless grsndmothers
Godbless you too granma.
Going to absolutely try this!
I never thought of adding vanilla. I always used cinnamon though. I’ll have to try that next time. Grandma’s are great!
Honestly given how crazy the world has gotten lately, this cozy dugout in the snow looks like heaven. Would take it over a 5star hotel in the city any day

Me too! It's the perfect hillside hideaway!! I would have an oven like what he has in the kitchen and a Vogelzang potbellied stove in the bedroom and living room. Maybe some off-grid power.
He gets internet service there ?
I’ll take the 5 star hotel in the city.
Absolutely
So, Alex, grandpa age here 78, it is so interesting to watch your daily life and activities. If I had a grandson, I would want him to be just like you! Even though you have not said a word, I feel an attachment to you, a bond, an affection for 'a grandson' I wish you the very best! I have a log home on the West Coast of the USA, I love living in the country and a couple acres and out of town! Quiet and peaceful! I hope I never have to live in town again! Your the best Alex!
Made it three minutes in and realized I’m watching this dude clean his log cabin when I need to be cleaning my log cabin (Apartment).

When i was a kid in the 70s we made tree forts some stood for years. But the underground forts is where its at. Stealth warmth and very cozy once you get a fire going. Yep i could live in a hole in the ground and be happy. Great build my friend.
You're a hobbit
@Jack Warner :D
Fort nite??
Isn't it super easy to get snowed in?
Alex, all the different angles and multiple camera shots are awesome! I can tell you always put a lot of thought into how the video will flow. Great work, man! Love this channel.

His cooking is great. I was expecting squirrels and little birds! He must shop at whole foods, or another high quality grocery store. That is definitely not Aldi, or Walmart groceries.
Love the cozy feeling g of being all snug and warm while storm rages outside. Great episode 👏
Warm and cozy are the best and you hit the nail on the head, a storm outside makes a cozy space even cozier.
Such a cute and cozy little place. ☺
Yeah, cute cozy and claustrophobic! 😃
That feeling is called chrysalism ❤️

Am I the only one trying to figure out how he stay so darn clean and dressed up in the woods hmmmm let’s see here 🤔
Watching these. I bet if he built a small out house & shower house. With a small solar setup to charge a battery for lights, phone, laptop, camera. He could live there full time. Debt free. Awesome!
Good idea 👍
Agree!! Just knowing that one has a fairly well-concealed shelter (a pretty significant, semi-permanent, cozy, roomy shelter, far from civilization) which one can run to if necessary - if some misfortune falls - loss of job, economic collapse, an invasion, what-have-you -- that's got to create some peace of mind. ;)
Agree…he is living a Real Life…in Nature, being able to get away from the RUT and Finding Peace❤
So beautiful .
Sauna may be able to double as a shower without too many modifications
First time I’ve watched your channel. Interesting, I have to admit I was worried you didn’t have near enough wood on hand so I was very glad to see you go get more. Better to have too much than not enough, as I am sure you know. Good luck and take care.
I wish these types of videos would show more of the coziness, looking out during the snow fall. Just show the relaxation. Instead of the build.
From watching a bunch of these videos, it seems the hardest thing about living off grid is having to reposition your camera every ten seconds.
Or parking your car so that it isn't visible in the video
Yea im pretty sure these youtubers dont live off the grid at all... like.... they're uploading to YT and editing videos etc lol, staying in small cabin just for the video for a day and then rest of week back to normal life, not really off the grid living at all

Aroli, this was a great episode. All the time it took to set up the different camera shots was well worth it, especially inside the stove. I'm so glad I found your channel when I did. Bravo.
I am very grateful to you.Such comments help me find time and edit videos before 2 a.m.👍
Yes, Alex! Your shots are getting more creative! Way to go!
That is a really great point. You sort of forget this is not a Discovery channel film team doing this. He has to set up and then edit all the shots. That is more work than anything else he does. He is a great film maker and dugout builder
What a beautiful cabin you have created! I would love to be there to spend some cosy and relaxed time. This was an amazing episode. You filmed it so well from every angle. It's amazing to dugout this cabin and stay there when especially the world is moving forward to it's destruction in so many ways. You built it beautifully and very creative way. You are highly talented dear Alex. Well done, stay blessed today and always!

Snow is a great insulation. I remember making snow caves for winter survival training. I had comfy nights in those things. Tents on the other hand are miserable in snow.

When you went outside and placed your hand over the chimney, feeling how blistering hot it felt, keep that in mind when next designing your chimney/exhaust. The more twists and turns INSIDE the home or even the walls, or even inside the stove itself, that the out going smoke makes on its journey out, is more time that energy is exchanged and hot air is placed inside your home. That heat you feel is energy from the logs you're burning which is being wasted, up out into the surrounding air. If you want to be fancy, try doing this one thing I did a few winters back, testing out a hot water system. Near the stove pipe chimney was my "wash basin", and above it i had a plastic water jug, 5 gallons. I had come across some copper piping, which I packed inside with sand, and once it was densely packed with sand, began to slowly bend the copper piping around a template, of the chimney, which was a custom lazy swirl job, around the cabin/sleeping area, which provided much opportunity for the heat to emanate. After cleaning out the sand/dirt from the copper piping i properly cleaned it and set it up, wound, around the exhaust/chimney. As the water poured down the copper, from a 5 gallon container holding cold clean water, it would transfer heat into it as it made its way to the "tap" opening. And that was my hot water. It was a bit finicky at times and when the entire system was warmed up, the outputting water was a bit TOO hot at times... but, the hot water allowed me to fill some hot water bladders, which would go into th3 foot of my bed, giving me some of the warmest and deepest sleeps I EVER had come upon me! Best of luck in your adventures!
Found this video by sheer chance and went back to watch the series from the beginning. Amazing build. I can't wait to see what else you have in mind for your dug-out. Stay safe.
Thank you 👍

“In a hole in the ground there lived Alex. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a forest bunker, and that means comfort.” 🙂

This dugout cabin is the coolest thing I've seen in a while! I would love to build one like it. It's a very Thoreauesque retreat, although I don't think Ol' Henry had a sauna at Walden! Also, I'm slightly over 6 feet tall, so I'd have to make it a little higher and wider. I'd also want at least five rooms....INCLUDING a sauna! That's a lot of digging and wood!!
Alex, I so enjoy your videos. They take me another world. As a child, we built forts’ in our back woods. It was so wonderful to play in them. You make me wish I was young again to venture into the deep woods to build a shelter like yours but I live it thru your eyes, thank you so much!

Hi from Canada. I love the snow. Cold and sunny is the best.
You have an amazing cabin. Just one question and it may be a stupid one, but when you steam up your secret room, do you run the risk of growing mold within the walls? How do you ensure that the moisture drys up behind the walls? Thanks.
The rocks keeps sauna hot long after bathing and sauna is ventilated so the moisture can dissipate.

Man, I just LOVE these videos. Here I am, trapped in my wee little house surrounded by other trapped humans.
This inspires me to hope and plan to get out of this crappy situation some day soon.
Living in society in your own house is FAR from being trap. Don't be fooled by illusions of wilderness life. This guy with his dugout is still 100% relying on the civilized world to survive and get any types of goods to sustain himself. Be happy that you have a roof over your head and the living conditions that you have, because humans living in TRUE wilderness, in other parts of the world, would love the safety, comfort and abundance of your situation. Trust me, the "trap" is within yourself, not within your current living conditions, you need to work on yourself.
Here I am the poor little me trapped in a luxury of a modern civilisation living in a wee little house with heat and running water and internet. And bugs 🐜
And all the water that is going to flood that 'cosy' hole in the ground !
Pretty amazed at the crud & creosote buildup in that stovepipe. Just out of curiosity, how many fires or what length of time does it take for that to build up like that? I, like so many others, are in awe of your filming skills. We, as your audience, have only to sit & wait for your next video without really thinking of all that you must do to make them so “theater-worthy” & always waiting for the next one! 👏👏👏 👌
With constant use, that looks about like. A weeks worth of build up, but that also depends on the wood being burned and how long it was season for. Example, pine will do that dona chimney every two days, oak, every week or two, maybe even longer, assuming both woods have been dried and seasoned
Its honestly amazing to watch all the things she can do! ❤❤❤
Just found your channel. What an awesome cabin! This would make a great guest house for family and friends that love the outdoor life! Great video! Look forward to watching more!
Amazing! I would love to hear your backstory and how you ended up living like this. I would also love to see more talking and sharing about what you’re doing while you are doing the video. What was the purpose of the secret room? (Edit- Ahhh, sauna - was multitasking cooking while watching and missed that part)
I can guess a number of reasons, but I would love to hear your explanation. Is this a weekend warrior kind of living, or do you live here full-time? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody saw a log into flat planks like that with a chainsaw. Interesting. I lived in a log cabin for about 4 1/2 years with my kids as a single mom many years ago before it became a trend. Waving from the USA.

Bathroom?
@@cherylandrews506 That's what I was wondering about, how 🤔 does he use the bathroom if needed?
I can just image the cactus saying, "Why is it like that outside. We never had the white stuff in Mexico".
Love that dug-out build style - but I'm wondering, how do you stop water from seeping in? Especially during snow melt or heavy rain, when the ground is fully saturated with water... won't liquid come in from the sides? How do you drain out water from below ground level?
In the sauna you can see that there is some plastic behind the wall. Maybe he has a plastic foil around his house.
@@alexfiftyfour The tarp isn't going to completely stop water if it does start flooding. Even if the walls and floor were completely sealed, standing water would still come in through the front door.
It's probably more about picking the right spot where the ground and weather are in a way that it doesn't flood in the first place.
Actual houses use gravel and drainage pipes to protect their cellars from flooding - but in extreme weather some cellars might still run into water problems.
@@hooby_9066 I watched the video where he build the house. The ground is very sandy. So there might not be any water. It will seep away in the sandy ground.
I love winter and snow. I wish I could be in that cabin for a week.
I love this. I stayed in a cabin close to the border in Texas. I loved it. You carried your water. And cooked what you had. It was close to the river. I’m a woman. I loved being alone. I loved the wind and the campfires. I had to sell my property but I wanted to live there. It was in the desert part of Texas. Good for you.
I would happily spend the rest of my life living this lifestyle. Just absolute bliss..
love the sauna concept...suggestion...put those rocks that are on the top of the stove in a cookie sheet type pan so when you pour water on them it stays in the pan at least and helps to steam up the room...no mess !!!
That's actually like creating a bomb, you don't want to burn rocks that have water in them. Or so I heard....
Some rocks, no. Some rocks, yes. Gotta educate yourself to which ones are safe.
This cabin is adorable. What a cozy cut of wilderness 🥰
This is my favourite dug-out cabin because it is so cozy and innovative. You've made my weekend with a new video!
Great video and ideas. I Admire the dugout cabin. Have you had an issue with heavy rain yet? Or does it shed away water really well? Just curious. Thx for the inspiration!
That’s what I’m wondering too. Wouldn’t the dugout fill up with water in heavy rain?
Hi Alex…I enjoy your videos. I have a question about your lodge. It appears to be below ground level. What will keep you from getting flooded when the snow melts?

I personally love it, as a person who has ancestors in Finland... We love our sauna's, and the fact that other cultures are the same, shows that we are not as different as some people think! 🥰
This is a nice cabin and great for the outdoor living, but it would be more fun with a companion, even a dog, so you also have some protection at night and a dog 🐶 will make you feel safe!
Вот это зима ))
nice house, i made this too for my pets
Your work is very beautiful. I'm doing the same thing as you, but I'm a girl so the work is hard ❤❤❤❤
