To my surprise, I am actually a Silk Road decent. My DNA is composed of mostly Han Chinese, but small amount of Northern Thailand, Mongolia, north India , Uzbekistan, Persian and turkey. Unbelievable.
It's possible, my grandma which should be 100s y/o by now didn't look Chinese and have grey blue eyes, we were amazed too. Possible from Silk Road or other sources, but the older generation never talked about it. Guess it's good if we could do some DNA test too. Great idea!

A lot of my mixed friends registered themselves as white instead of Asian Americans because affirmative action against Asian Americans. It works out pretty well for them to get into Ivy League school as whites. Asian kids with similar records have pretty tough time to get into Ivy schools. My kids are pure Asians without such options. Only my youngest son get into Ivy league with almost impossible record.

One guy with blonde hair and blue eyes also digged out something in the family history to get even native American identity for the sake of getting into medical school. Another Chinese friend's daughter with white father also choose white as racial category and got into Ivy league. She told me that her daughter would not have chance with asian as ethnic identity. This is USA, not UK.

Heart broken fact is that biracial children will face hard time in their childhood in the West. It is very important to help your children know who they are, not let others define their identities. Have strong faith is the key.

Same. I always thought I was 100% Bengali until I found out my father's family migrated from Pakistan some generations back. And Pakistan is ethnically diverse, so I could be mixed with anything. Then, my mother probably has some indigenous genes in her also. Who knows, maybe I should do a test
As a mixed race (I would say Eurasian but not everyone understands that) person myself, I understand the struggle he'll face. But ultimately that diversity will only benefit him and make him more open minded from day 1.
