    Just remember the kind of folk interested in this type of tool video knows pretty much most of whats out there on the market as far as wrenches go. However they may not have used or held some of the types your discussing so they want DETAILS... stuff thats not in the flyer, stuff you can't see at first glance, an opinion one can only form after using said wrench for some time with experience. There is a LOT more to a basic wrench than many would believe. I liked the detail about those Capri wrenches having a comfortable beam thats nice on the hands and gives confidence. Details! I think you want to attract 'tool guys' not just the random Joe homeowners. Anyhow, good luck and thank u for taking the time to show us your chit, u made many good points, u got a good sensible selection.

    You have the icon wrenches for the simple fact that you don’t use them everyday on every job and it’s smart business wise to put your money into daily driver tools

    I liked late 90s Mac knuckle saver boxy style wrenches. but I fell in love with matco wrenches, it was between matco and snap on. My matco dealer gave me a deal of the century, so I took them.

    If you had all of your tools stolen. And your insurance cut you a check in the thousands. What tools would you pick?
    It happened to me in the ‘90s.
    I went SK wrenches and sockets.
    Today I’d go Proto wrenches. Koken ratchets and sockets.
    Capri for the odd wrenches.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  Год назад +4

      great question, i’d go snap-on wrenches and ratchets. Ko-Ken sockets and ratchets. capri and VIM for the oddball stuff and probably some mac in there

    On the really long matco ratcheting wrenches ( u made a comment thateveryone else makes em too) , what is the extended ratcheting part stick up or out from the ratcheting part for. Is that to just give u a little length kinda like a socket does? Or is that insert pieces of different sizes all for same wrench, like socket bits for a ratcheting shallow wrench etc. I’d love to see that more closely. And thx!! I’m brand new to this channel and although I’m an occasional weekendfwarrior , I’m not a mechanic but love buying nice tools for my reasons

    Those matco wrenches you showed our first actually are mountain ranch has also sold by harbor freight under icon for about half the price not sure why anybody would want to pay almost $500 for the makah ones when you can get them elsewhere for less than 200 in some cases

    I like that mat looking finish of the Sonic. I actually wish other companies had a finish like that is what the tools in my house looked like as a kid. I find chrome tedious to keep clean and it annoys me when it chips. If anyone knows of a decent option for wrenches in that style please reply. Thanks!

    I like the variety!
    My favorite is older long Mac xl open and box.
    Next are split ratcheting flare nuts for radiators.
    Thin wrenches for valve bodies.
    Right angle for hydraulics.
    Hate older snappy ,blue point and gear wrenchs ratcheting,constantly stripping the heads.
    And a plierswrench is always within reach.
    Wnjoyed it!

    You can't compare that Craftsman that's a copy of the Mac precision torque to the Snap-on ratcheting wrench cuz the snap-on's an extra long The craftsman you got is a regular size. You do know that Stanley Black & Decker owns both Craftsman and Mac, plus Proto for that matter. So I bet you both of those wrenches came out of the same factory in Taiwan which is where they're made.
    I do agree with you about the regular length wrenches. I don't buy them I usually buy only extra long or long wrenches. companies make them because they're cheaper some people don't want to spend the money or think they need extra long wrenches.

    • @TxToolGuy
      @TxToolGuy  Год назад +2

      yes i know they’re all owned by SBD. which is why i wanted to side by side the craftsman and mac. thought it was interesting how similar they are but not the same length but i agree they’re probably from the same factory. and yeah i wish all wrenches came in the length of my snap-on ones

    • @darrenporsch
      @darrenporsch Год назад +1

      @@TxToolGuy I'm just a DIY so the only snap-ons I've had I bought used off eBay and their extra longs. But my dad used to train factory Techs so he has lots of brands of older US-made tools including some Snap-on. e
      Even their regular wrenches have always been longer than everyone else's and they felt the best in your hand. I can see why professionals like them but they're too rich for my blood new as DIY. Thanks for the video It was interesting to see all the brands side by side
