I'm just starting to learn jazz guitar. I've been a piano player & lover of jazz for most of my life so I have a fair amount of jazz theory and piano technique under my belt. it is really frustrating not knowing my way around the fretboard. I feel like all of my knowledge and expressiveness is trapped behind the guitar's mystifying form. This exercise is a really helpful way for me to start connecting jazz theory with fretboard-familiarization exercises. Thank you for this lesson!
Thanks you, I always watch your videos to learn to play jazz guitar and I just learned that you're Peruvian!, I'm Peruvian living in the US. I'm now listening to your songs in Spotify, a lot of Peruvian rhythm there
Excellent explanation! Great use of "Frère Jacques" Easy to understand and apply right away. Like you said - modify all these for mi7 b5 and altered Dominant. This will really help my Jazz Bass Students at C.S.U.F. (and me!) Thank you!
TJGC >>> Just getting started trying to learn Jazz guitar. Used to play a little blues / rock rhythm guitar years ago, but career stopped that process. Do you have a list of recommended books, or lesson videos to help me get started, because what you are describing in this video is way over my head at the moment.

Another excellent lesson Richie! Thank you!
Thanks richie this is super useful for thinking in intervals on fretboard, and a smashing approach for a systematic practice of scales and modes!
Even without practicing the individual patterns this is an useful way to think. Start on a chord tone and come up with some pattern, very cool
the time in the practise room is saved thank you
