I remember that in Clan wars often IS-4 were preferred since it basically was a Tier 10 when it was on T9

old t9 is4 had godly gun depression. is7 was a meh upgrade in comparison tbh

The teamwork between you, the FV4005, and the Borr was absolutely wonderful to watch.
Historically, the IS-8 was relabeled as the T10 as part of destalinization in the 1950s. Pretty interesting that the name change happened in wot too (obviously not for the same reason lol)
The T-10 has consistently stayed as my favorite tier 9 tank in the game and it's one of my most played. Its just an all round good tank imo. Excellent turret armor combined with a good gun leaves no room for imagination. Love this beaut
A Turbo turns it into a maneuverable heavy medium.
yeah, i had to play a lot with the T-10 to get the IS-7 all without premium account
I love how he says the is8 was renamed because it didn't make sense for it to lead to the is7, but then wg goes and adds a line that goes from the m3y, to the m6y, then to the m5y. I feel like there's more examples of this but I don't remember

And the most recent example, the ho-ri 2 > 1 > 3 lol
it was strong years ago, it is still strong today. one of the greatest guns at tier 9
Just played my T10 yesterday. As long as you play it as a heavy medium or a light heavy, it's still very good.

Old WoT player here. I always loved the IS8... Had very good stats in it, but this was in a time where WoT was in a more simple state. IS7 my all time fav
Awesome commentary QB ! this is one of my favorite tanks. Not the best player, maybe not the best tank but we have a lot of fun together.
T10 is kinda pointless now, VZ51 is literally the same tank but much better armor and autoloader.

The T-10 for me has always been very average. I like it's gun handling, speed, and relatively consistent turret armor, but its hull and ammo rack vulnerability is TERRIBLE. These days, I tend to prefer heavies like the M4 51 or the Obj 257 by comparison

That bourrasque was a devil of a driver avoiding all those opposing force tanks
The T-10 is one of my favourite tier9 tank, but he has only one problem: the armour start to work when u have only 200/250hp left XD but it's a medium for mobility, and is still funny to play

historically the IS-8 actually came after the IS-7 as the IS-7 was only a prototype. The IS-8 was the last IS tank but was renamed after Stalin died as apart of Khruschev's destalinisation programme

The T-10 (IS-8) was my first tier 9 heavy tank, so it holds a special place in my heart. Back in the day, I much preferred it over the ST-I. It was faster and had better gun handling, but had less armor and gun depression. A fine trade off, in my opinion.
The T-10 was renamed because that's what it was accepted into production as. Under development, it went through the designations of IS-8, IS-9, and was accepted as the IS-10, but due to Stalin's death it was renamed to the T-10. Realistically, the IS-8 was a prototype vehicle that the in game tank does not represent, hence the rename.
The luck you have hitting shots on the move from long distance is stupid good.
T10 is super fun. Only 2 marked it, but enjoyed it

T10m never goes wrong for me, grinding the 277 half a year ago wasnt very painful and the grind went as fast as my t110e4 grind.
The T-10 and its bigger brother Obj 277 are meant to play as medium tanks with lower dpm, but better armor, you don't sit there and trade with other heavies unless you really wanna die fast. Great mobility, strong guns and decent turret armor mean you need to get up close and personal with your opponents and on flat maps, you're gonna crush most mediums in close combat if you put a few shells in them on your way in.
You can still bait shots with your turrets in both tanks though, depending on who's firing at you.

@@g.d.graham2446 well, to be fair, the tier 9 AMX is the better tank since they buffed it straight into OP status, of course it's more comfortable to play. Concerning the 257, I honestly can't enjoy that tank, it's such a one gimmick type of tank. Sure you can over angle and bait less experienced players into giving you Steel Wall medals, but anyone average and up will just go for your sidebar, cupolas and the slightest hint of beak you show. Let's not forget of that god awful lowerplate you can snipe at max range easily.
But it comes down to playstyle in the end, whatever works for each of us. The T-10 is simply more tailored to my gameplay. I know how it works and I'm not let down by it when either aspect lets me down, unlike the 257 which is supposed to be a troll, yet it's merely cannon fodder.

The name change of the IS-8 to T-10 is as much a historical thing as it is a thing where the tech tree looks weird. The T-10 tank was originally designated as the IS-8, IS for Iosef Stalin, but after Stalin died, the Khrushchev government wanted to shift away from being locked into doing everything the Stalinist way, and so they undertook a policy of de-Stalinization. One thing to be done because of this was redesignating the IS-8 Heavy Tank, which was in service with the Red Army, as the T-10 Heavy Tank.
Im still loving the AMX 50 100 with its high clip potential.

It's actually based on a real tank, like many of the earlier tanks in the game. So much now is just made up by WG for "variety."

I haven't played much games in this heavy. I have great success! doing reverse side scraping and as long as I'm more of a support heavy I do fairy well. I get decent games so I can't complain, much better for me than is3.
The name wasn’t changed to T-10 because of numbering. It was changed because the IRL IS-8’s name was changed to T-10 after political changes. T-10 also has a different turret than the IS-8 which is the top tier turret on this tank

One of my favourites: Had to go through this one to the IS-7, my first tier ten tank. Never sold this one however, it is still very good. I must admit I do have a bond rammer on it, that's how much I like this heavium. However, it could do with some buffs compared to all the new tanks coming into the game. It is such a waste that WG seems to have to make the new tanks better than the oldskool ones. I dont think there is really a need for that, people will play the new techlines if they are balanced. No need to OP new lines, just balance them properly.
Just to show it is possible to get a good WR on this tank my stats for it: Most played tank I have!

Its still called the IS-8 in blitz. People don’t like it but I think its great. In blitz it has high dpm and accuracy but poor hull armour. I use it to crush mediums
they buffed it a little bit
I always had an odd time in it. It was great against mediums and lights, but the problem with blitz is the mediums and heavies are usually together, so both would end up exploiting your weaknesses against their respective class.
Just because a number is bigger doesn't mean it's supposed to be better. The T-10 (which was called IS-8/IS-9 during development) was seen as a low cost alternative to the expensive IS-7. Another example is the original T-72 models which was cheaper and had inferior armour to the T-64.

0:59, it's not that it doesn't make sense for the tank to be named IS-8 because it led to the IS-7, the tank saw wide usage under the name T-10 and T-10M in the soviet union after Stalin's death, when it was first developed.
It was originally called IS-8, IS-9 and IS-10 while it was being developed and Stalin was still alive, but due to politics and the shit that Stalin did, when he died it didn't make sense to keep his name on the tank, as IS stands for Iosif Stalin, so they named it T-10, T standing for Tank.

Wouldn't say that the Obj. 277 is new-player friendly, since it has worse hull armor than other tier X heavies. I like to play the 277 in the same way you play the T-10 - push the medium flank. And that kinda playstyle requires some amount of skill, I think an IS-7 or an IS-4 is the better choice for a new player.
T-10 is nothing comparedto obj277
IS-8. Throw on a Turbo and you have a great Heavy Medium. As good as the T9 Obj 430.

tried to look up the concept 1b on tanks gg and see how a newer tank compares to this. Are they removing features there?
Video idea; how about you do an analytics video showcasing what tanks that are being forgotten about due for them being old and WG not bothering to keep them with a current matter tanks. For example, T54 can not keep up with the new nations only if you bond everything and gold your way against the majority of tanks. I feel as if WG just forgot about the old school tanks. I’ve playing this game for 10 years and it was never this fair. Love the vids btw!
Just a fyi, I used enjoy the is8, but I know for sure that it could not keep with the new shiny tanks rn unless I pay arm and leg worth of upgrades. As for the T54, I don’t even bother playing nevertheless you hardly see them in battles 😢
