I'm not an Alouettes fan but I - and a lot of people across the country - were cheering for Manziel to do well here. It's good for our CFL if big names come north and succeed. And I think a lot of people were rooting for him personally. He said all the right things throughout his time here. I don't know what he was like down there, or if all the comments about 'ego' are true or not - regardless, he seemed at least in public to put that aside. I am sure there was more to his trade from Hamilton to Montreal, and being named starter. All academic now. I still hope things work out for him. The CFL is not the bush league some like to think it is, and we have plenty of talent (much of it homegrown) to make things exciting with or without him.

Love the CFL. GREAT brand of football. Really wanted Johnny to do well, but he failed in his first year. He struggled on a weak team and looked like a raw rookie just learning the CFL. There were some glimpses of stardom but for the most part it was pretty ugly. If he stayed in the CFL he could have been the next Doug Flutie. It would have taken 3 to 4 years but it was possible.

I watched most of last year's CFL games and Manziel barely registered, other than sitting on the sidelines or finally playing and getting destroyed by the opposing defenses. He did have a couple of decent games at the end, but was far from being a top Q.B. in the league. He played no games (other than pre-season) in Hamilton, and was traded to Montreal, because their starter got injured. Otherwise he may have never played a game.

      Totally agree.
People in America hate Johnny Manziel too much just because they are envious of him.

Forgetting about the Arena Football League (AFL) or the Indoor Football League (IFL) along with the AAF/Alliance, and the XFL, but Kurt Warner played with the Iowa Barnstormers in arena football and went on to win a SuperBowl MVP and a SuperBowl ring with the St. Louis Rams, so anything is possible. I wouldn’t count out the AFL or IFL, but yah probably the AAF or the XFL are probably leading candidates for him.

CFL was a bad move. If a QB can't get a first down with four downs. How would he do it with three? The CFL is more of a passing league than the NFL. No spot for a crappy QB. Flutie and Moon have been, that I know of, the only two NFL QB's to put up good numbers and win championships in the CFL.
They were both rewarded with NFL contracts. Going from 3 downs to 4, is a whole lot easier than, 4 to 3. Especially if your an overrated fool.

@@cliffordlevy3918 Moon and Theisman were good NFL QBs, Flutie was marginal and it it wasn't for Owen's, Garcia would have been serving fries sooner. By the way 4 QBs coming back isn't that great especially since the reason that every QB in Canadian football is not even good enough to make a practice squad in the NFL.

Lesson here is everyone is replaceable. Just ask Maurice Clarett. What we all need is a good dose of humility. Just takes some hard lessons to be learned and reminded of too sometimes. Good example is Tim Tebow of what a humble person is.

Al's were my team. Between the snap and the ball leaving AC's hand, is 1.3 seconds. He's the all time passing yard leader w/79,816. He wasn't usain bolt though but check out ben cahoon catches. NFL mention has nothing to it. AC is the greatest, borders be damned. its an incredible achievement. Manziel is bizarro superman.

They signed him as a free agent, since they had his rights, then traded him for good quality players, that Montreal couldn't afford to lose. This will show up this year as Montreal will almost certainly finish in the bottom of the East and League again.
