i remember i kind of hit a wall with my monk doing T15 maps. Whenever i had some really difficult modifiers on enemies like +% monster life and monster ailment threshold. It would completely brick my build and things were just not dying quickly. The risk of failure on these runs was way too high, too high risk vs reward. So in this case i remember spending 2 days, playing at least 8-10 hours mapping. Picking up every expert quarterstaff i could find. From rare's, blues and normals. On the first day, I just could not believe how difficult it was to even get something that looked remotely decent by the time you had 6 mods on it. Without wanting to invest too much, I still did. I burnt through all of my chaos orbs, to just brick the item anyway because most of the time it would take away the good modifier and not get rid of the 2 modifiers you'd be happy to change. That item goes straight to the bin and back to maps or move on to the next item. Then it also seemed like every time you get to the exalt stage and have an item thats looking great, you've spent a regal + 2 exalts only for the last exalt to give it 9 fire damage or something completely useless like attribute reduction or accuracy. You feel cursed when it happened every time during an entire day. On my second day of following this process, I was even making 2-3 return trips during maps just to make sure no quarterstaff was left behind. I found normal Expert Long Quarterstaff. I managed to get a godlike craft on it. Right now i can't find anything on the market that is similar. It does over 750 physical dps and 150 elemental dps. I listed it for sale just to check the tooltips. So each roll on this item was useful. I think i rolled 60% phys dmg + accuracy hybrid, T10 lightning 190dmg, attack speed, 81% increased stun buildup, +30 dex. Now i had one slot left for an exalt and needed something big. Each roll seemed very helpful so far and i was expecting a low roll cold or fire damage. I got %phys, it jumped up to 235% physical. Immediately put quality 20% and artificer orbs. Corrupted it and got Grants 1+ rage on melee hit. this thing absolutely shreds. my dps basically doubled. im killing elite's accidentally now. Before i would have to use some caution depending on which modifiers they have. Now I just kill them before they have any time to do damage or any damaging aoe's take effect. Its brilliant. I think its very possible to "craft" top tier gear relatively cheaply, you just need to be disciplined and give up on an item as soon as you get bad rolls. The cost of continuing on an item that didnt start good up to the point of regal will be significantly more than it will cost you to see 3 mods on an item and decide.
This is great advice, I spent two weeks doing expert dual string bows just like this - physical essence, augment, regal, chaos, exalt. Its a fine line to know when to quit, but usually quit early if you get a bad roll, reforge and collect more. I ended up rolling a 130% phys, t6 flat phys, t8 lightning, a second additional arrow in suffix and really high crit and crit damage. Only thing I found on trade site with somewhat similar stats was 150 - 250+ div and it shreds maps like mad. Feels really rewarding to have crafted it after so many tries.
Guys, a quick question: I found a really good dual string bow t4. Identified it and it rolled 5 great stats. 100 % elemental damage with attacks, attack speed, level on projectile skills etc. I could put one exalted on it so I did. It rolled physical damage but it is a really low one. 25 %. Is there a way to remove that physical damage percent and roll a higher one or a divine orb will solve the problem ? Thank you
That’s kinda how I’ve been doing it. If the first 2 magic modifiers are not top tier I instantly scrap it. I’m at the point where I either need super min maxed stats or it won’t be worth. Tbf I stopped checking absolutely every staff now since I actually plan to try a pillar of caged god attribute stacking build. But I pick up every possible pure es gear (like wicker tiara, etc.) to roll. Augmentation and transmute orbs are dirt cheap to spend so it doesn’t hurt to check as many things as possible. Only takes a tiny bit of extra time if you gotta make a couple trips to the hideout. I honestly might just start keeping a stack of augment and transmute orbs on me now so I can just reveal them, mod them, see if they’re worth, and then drop me if they’re not.
You're the first RUclipsr I've seen to actually show people the best/most economical way to craft. I've been slapping alchemy orbs on the high value white bases and have gone almost completely broke in the process. Thank you!
If you think about it: Using an alch on a base is really the same thing as just finding a random rare to begin with. There's no point. The only thing alchw are good for us upgrading white maps.
@AstvomBaum more shots on goal with the same odds = more chances of success? But it's obvious that it's not tuned for the chances of success/the payout to equal the cost for those extra shots. So ultimately you're correct. It's just sad because crafting is fun and buying is not
I wish they would implement something like Last Epoch does with the Merchant Guild vs Circle of Fortune, where you can choose to be a crafter (who can't trade) and you'll get better odds on your rolls
The problem with crafting weapons for profit is the weightings of the higher tier rolls. You are much more likely to roll a low tier +phys or %phys roll than a high tier. A lot of people think since there are 8 tiers of %phys that you have a 1/8 chance of rolling any of them. However, the odds of rolling the highest %phys is 0.137% while the chance of rolling the lowest tier is 2.29%. So you are 16.7x more likely to brick than hit essentially.
This problem is further exacerbated by the fact that physical essences can hit 2 bad suffixes so even getting a physical prefix isn't guaranteed in the first place.
I was working with the Dual String bows for a bit, I made one really good one that sold for 65 Div, but most of them bricked. I switched to Primed Quivers, I haven't hit a big seller yet, but I get a lot more sellable ones.
Not sure the omens are such a good idea... even with a 10% savings... often time the first exalt is enough to wreck an item... what you are doing is basically closing your eyes and exalting twice before looking...
Yeah but at that point the only thing left you can do anyway is slam it out, you could say that having open mods makes it more valuable, and it does, but if you're doing a video like this or crafting for yourself rather than profit, or you're only interested in making the best item possible to sell, there's no harm in it.
@@dylanstanfill2897 I feel that if you are purposefully using a sub-optimal strat in a instructional video, then that should probably be mentioned though :)
@@donaldtroll I'd have to rewatch it, but he usually says things like "i wouldn't usually do this, but will for the video, so he does call it out a lot. In this case he was shooting for 6 lines anyway, so it really depends on what your goal is as to what is optimal. If you are only interested in making a 6 liner, then he was being optimal. I've gotten to the point where I don't care about making a 1div craft, I'm shooting for 10+, so I usually slam everything out and look at it all after. Once you're at 3 lines, there is nothing left to help determine what will roll, so might as well slam it out.
Love the RO music added, very chilling while listening. Also I only craft on 82+ bows and skill not gotten a good one in 500 hours. Hate the gamba crafting. Try quivers next maybe? I find it easier to hit since you only need good stats and not triple physical.
Same, loved the RO bgm. Btw, what item lvl should I be looking for at quivers crafting? Didn't know only 82+ bows then is worth crafting, been wasting time and mats on other bows
Buying on the market is always easier, but crafting usually ends up cheaper, just takes time and effort. If you never sell any of your failed attempts, then sure it won't be cheaper all the time, but generally you're gonna end up making a few things here and there that will be good enough to sell to someone just starting maps or looking for a mid range upgrade to recoup your crafting expenses. Also, buying the bases yourself and then crafting is more efficient, but if you're running high end content regularly anyway, I recommend finding or setting up a filter that shows certain ilvl bases of various things, then either crafting as you pick them up, or stashing them for a bulk craft like this. Saves a lot of exalts which means more room for profit.
I feel like triple physical roll is overrated. Everyone is sleeping on %elelmental damage on attacks. Can get over 100% and it gives a huge boost to lighting arrow abilities.
I dont get it...I had a really good bow with good phys. But as soon I switched to cold flat damage...my build is blasting. 😂 but I am still a noob in poe2

Pretty much, along with other throw away mods, although I'm not sure if the weighting has been changed on slamming specifically or just what it rolls when you id it

The geffen bgm tho. Made me feel nostalgic. RO music + poe 2 is quite a good touch. Im gonna try this later while im mapping.

For Lightning Arrow or Ice Shot builds, "Added Cold" and "Added Lightning" can be almost as strong as a Phys roll

Could you make a video/loot filter on the most optimal filter for loot while mapping?
One that includes valuble whites crafting roles ect
