  • Selling for under $5 the Zebra Fortia 300 ( amzn.to/2Sellpc ) is a ridiculously good deal. The ink (Zebra F series) isn't the best, but it gets the job done. This is just a huge amount of value for the money.
The value rivals that of the F-701 ( amzn.to/2UZubsP ) though that one still wins out since it's all metal. That said, I like the rubberized grip a lot and if you don't need the rugged, EDC style of the F-701 then you'll want to check out a Fortia. Or for $5, just buy them both.

Zebra: where amazing pen barrels with terrible refills happen.

Hey Benjamin. Have you ever tried their Sarasa Grand pen, their gel or hybrid inks. Their ballpoint oil-based ink is definitely substandard; however, I think you'll be partial to the gel and hybrid.

I purchased a couple of Fortia 300 pens via Jetpens, one in green, the other in blue. I like that they're all metal but wished it came a bit larger, in diameter and length, and offered a better ink. I then bought what I would call its cousin, the Surari 300, from Tokyo Pen Shop. Got just what I wanted and more. Not only is it larger in both diameter and length, but it has a better looking clip, sold at the same price (5 cents more for the Surari) and most importantly, it has much better ink (hybrid). It's offered in a variety of colors and two tip sizes, 0.5 and 0.7. I personally recommend the Surari over the Fortia. Always look forward to your videos Sal!

I saw another one of your videos mentioning this Fortia. I liked your high regard for it and got it overnighted to me from Amazon. But like you reference in this video, the refill is too bland. Did you ever figure out if another refill can fit in this pen? I've been using the pen ever since I got it, but the looks are far superior to the ink lol.
I got the Surari that looks like it too, but they use different refills, which is a shame because then I'd just order extra Surari refills which seem ok (0.5mm isn't to my liking though).

Can you do some reviews of the Jinhao and Baoer ballpoints? For me, they are incredible values. The machined, textured steel ballpoints are of incredible quality and value, take g2 refills of any brand and have brass threads.

@@unsharpen Yeah. The Baoer 37. Stainless or black and silver. The Platinum Jinhao 856 rotating ballpoint. I get confused about what is Baoer or Jinhao, or the same with different branding.
