For a sequel Longer matches, more maps, more stars, HD graphics, more powerups (hopefully unlimited), and online, I'M SOLD. Also, I could imagine a battle royale mode for city trial
My friends and I use Gecko Codes on Dolphin to allow for longer matches, same goes with better graphics A Kirby Air Ride Battle Royale would be insanely dumb, so yeah, I'd enjoy it xD
Like, imagine if there was a battle City Trial mode, where each Kirby has one life, but there’s still a bunch of vehicles, and you would be grabbing Powerups to either avoid or kill other Kirbies, but they would be doing the same, and it would be insane, and it would all be in the huge map, and it would be great.
Wait, there are objectives in City Trial? Maybe I was playing some sort of free roam mode. Back then, me and my friends would literally just drive aimlessly around the city for hours and hours. It's hard to describe how fun doing basically nothing was. Even without events, or objectives, the city is so jam packed with stuff that we never got bored. We would even make our own stories and objectives using the stuff in the game.
I have YEARS of playtime playing city trials with my sister, and every time, every SINGLE time we heard the sound effect it was like “ooooo” because we found out you could unlock the dragoon and hydra in freeplay (after getting the dragoon we made it a mission to get the hydra) so we figured we might be able to unlock them in air ride mode too and went out of our way to try and get every single achievement.
I think this might be my favorite RUclips video of all time. City Trial is so genuinely awesome imo and it's so cool to see someone who has that same feeling toward it.
I've been watching your videos as I just found you recently. This video is amazing, because Kirby Air Ride is a huge part of my childhood. My brother and I LIVED in that city! I am absolutely in love with the excitement in your voice in these videos, and it helps that you love the games I love, such as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
Looks like we grew up in the same era for sure. Whilst not my first video game ever was on the GC, a lot of titles that are fond to me seem to be for you as wel. GC era hype
I've been saying that City Trial is my favorite mode in any game ever for years now, and I'm so glad others agree with that! Thank you for making this to help spread the love.
Your excitement for this game is palpable and it really makes me want to bust it out and grab some friends to play! i played this endlessly when i was a kid and i love that it really means that much to others as well. Every time i look at Air Ride, i think how desperately it deserves a Switch port or a SEQUEL It would rake in so much money, and would be perfectly suited to the way you used to be able to take your nintendo DS with mario kart and play it locally with friends, but with the upgraded capabilities of the switch performance
The video needs more views, love how much energy you put into it. Felt like we were sat in the same room and you just vented how much you love city trial for 10 minutes
Ah, during this video I could feel your passion for City Trial and I feel the same way; Kirby Air Ride is awesome, and City Trial is the best part of the game, which I've played many times! Air Ride? Yawn, linear tracks with invisible walls *everywhere.* Top Ride? This isn't even the same game! Now, City Trial? Freedom to go anywhere, challenging everyone else in the game over several minutes, or in free run where any vehicle can be taken anywhere! I love it myself...now, if only a Kirby Air Ride 2 could be developed, so there could be a potential new City Trial...
Air Ride isn't that fun on its own, I feel like it needed items to really spice things up. Top Ride's pretty fun in its own right! The chaos is exciting. City Trial's just...*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*
I know I'm kinda late to the party, but this video encompasses everything I felt playing this game a few years ago and even got me to get my Gamecube back out just for this game. I remember bringing three of my friends over and we just went wild for hours exploring the map, collecting patches, assaulting a single player when they destroy the other three people's rides in a single Plasma shot right at the beginning of the match (You know who you are, Charlie), and setting up crazy challenges for each other like "Bikes Only" or who collects the most of a certain patch! This video reminds me of some of the funnest times I've had with my friends. For that, you've got a new subscriber.
This game could literally be remade as “Kirby air ride 2 Battle royale” and I would dump every second of my life into that game even if it was online only, as long as it has the same format as city trial, I would TOTALLY be down for that
Ayy welcome back! This kinda reminds me how my sisters and I would play Mario Kart Double Dash and would hide in one spot of a track and then the other would have to find them. It was fun, nostalgic times. Glad to see you so passionate about it.
Heya! It's great to be back! I've actually been playing Mario Kart: Double Dash the past few days on Dolphin Emulator, I may as well call it the nostalgia emulator since I've relived a lot of good times in old games with the awesome people I know now. I'll always be passionate about the games I enjoy
ZoomZike Looking at your channel, I see you're a fan of Death Note? I don't watch a ton of anime - especially anymore - but that's my favorite. Also - hey! I don't know if you will remember me, but I participated in your Brawl tournament years back as TheLegendaryBatNut. Just changed my name because it sounded stupid.
For years, my cousins and I believed that having a single player go on all four of those structures the models represent early enough in the match would be the trigger to get the Legendary Air Ride Machine pieces to start spawning. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with whether or not they spawn, but it's become a force of habit.
I LOVE the excitement of finding an All patch, wether it spawns or comes from a box or when you get it from Dyna blade or the final meteor, god I really hope they at least remaster this game it's hands down my favorite GameCube game I love the hydra so much and how you can demolish opponents just by accidentally tapping them
When I was little me and my friends would just play free ride for hours on end and basically turn it into a life sim. We'd all have jobs, like one person was the car salesman, one person was the lumberjack, one person was the railway manager, etc. And everyone had their own "houses" too. Most people usually liked to fight for the Garden in the Sky as their house, but I personally saw it as very inconvenient to use as a living space and instead went for the much more practical option of the Electric Lounge.
its a refreshment to hear this after watching Identifying Luck, which is the polar opposite of this video: calm, and calculated. The passion and excitement you hold for this game really shines through!
I came to this video after you mentioned it in your Super Mario Sunshine video and this is probably my favorite video essay of all time. The sheer giddy joy I heard in your voice is beautiful and I feel the exact the same way about City Trial.
Can we also take the time to examine just how well the sounds of the air ride machines complement themselves? Like let's take a look at the Hydra, when you finally get it all charged and it takes off at full speed the way its engine just screams just complements the fact that you are in possession of a mighty legendary that will mow down everything in its path. The Dragoon's pattering as it flies through the air gives off a feeling of a majestic dragon taking flight into the air, it knows how to fly, it knows where it wants to go, there is no difficulty flying the Dragoon, only grace and beauty like its name and design.
Yeah when I was kid and none of my siblings wanted to play I would just hop in free ride and just have an insane amount of fun for the fact that I was just riding around aimlessly soaking up the beautiful map and set pieces
I wish I loved city trials the way Zoom does. I did t grow up with a GameCube and when my buddies and I played city trial mode recently we just didn’t have a great time. It was random, unclear as to what we are to do, and the final challenge is also so vague by the time we figured out what it wanted us to do it was over. This video was fun! And I wished I loved city trial mode but I just don’t know if it is in the cards for me.
@@zaptodeathx Oh I didn't mean from a gameplay standpoint, I'm talking title. Mario Party literally says "Battle Royale" in a few of the games when you go into Party Mode with no teams.
ZoomZike oh that’s understandable! Also, I went and downloaded a hack pack of Kirby air ride on my pc and joined a discord server for netplay. People have developed a hack so you can play with people anywhere! You can also play in full screen instead of split screen! It’s very cool and worth checking out. You don’t even need to find your own iso file
oh man when i introduced my gf to this game, i got the hydra on one of the rounds and she started flipping out bc of how fast and strong and unkillable i became lmao
I'm the only guy who enjoyed all three modes, lol. but it took making up special rules to truly enjoy top ride. Also I lost my mind when I first created Hydra, I was like OMG!!!
i played a lot of the smash version, smash run. it was the most fun single player mode ever introduced in smash, i just wish i had friends with smash 3ds on my town to play with local multi-player.

I didn't like Air Ride that much compared to City Trial. Maybe you were playing free trial mode the whole time? Or had events turned off? They're awesome!

This guy really just said let's describe City Trial in the most nostalgic way possible for all the Kirby Air Ride lovers. I legit cried from all the different emotions this video made me feel. My personal favorite event is the one where the items and boxes just start bouncing around for absolutely no reason. It's so random and the music just makes it 10 times funnier.
One time I got "All boxes have the same item!" and it was an All Patch and that round was hideous overpowered
OH JEEEEEEEEEZ THAT SOUNDS FUN!
So far I have ONLY gotten the Bomb Copy Ability
This is probably the least professional video review-type video ever, and so far its my favorite. You get that primal joy from air ride.
I just couldn't help myself when it came to expressing all the good I saw in this game mode, thanks!
The sheer expressiveness of this guy is very nice!
Thank you so much!

Free ride is City Trial without the objectives. Or maybe you were playing without events on, which is an option you can select.
@@zoomzike I guess it was free ride. In that case I played free ride for hours at a time.

City Trial was amazing. Spent hundreds of hours into it with my buddy and my sibling. Truly magical times. The music is super nostalgic.

You’re my new favorite RUclipsr. Your videos on GameCube games are bringing me back
Dang that means a lot, glad you're enjoying all of it. You saying that makes me think of the GameCube's menu, great times.
ZoomZike Kirby’s Air Ride, Luigi’s Mansión, Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2, Double Dash. I’m surprised you don’t have a single Zelda video
I don't think i've ever resonated with a youtube video so much
I used to have that checkbox sounds as my text tone! I've probably put a few thousand hours into this game mode because it's so much fun for me.

This is my favorite game of all time. Nothing will beat the many hours my sister and I spent over the years dicking around in City Trial Free Run.
AAAAAAAAAAAA I WANT CITY TRIAL AS ITS OWN GAAAAAAAAAAAME!
I've definitely sunk hours and hours into the other two modes in the game, but City Trial's greatness is truly unmatched.
You know I never thought about it this way before, but City Trial is one of the only PvP roguelikes ever made.

i try to convince my friends to play this with me but they don't even wanna try it. XD
We all have those kinds of friends who never wanna play games with us. Or at all. They rather go out and do things instead.
5 years later and still thinking about this masterpiece of a viedo
Could you imagine a new Kirby Air Ride? More tracks, more stars, more City Trial events, and of course, HD graphics! Also online multiplayer.
That'd be awesome!
Never have I ever been more sold on a game than I have from this vid.

I think it becomes more clear once it's viewed as a battle royale kinda mode where you power up your vehicles more than the other players
This mode eventually just boiled down to who managed to grab all the dragoon or hydra parts first whenever I played with my brother.
GET ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!
GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!
GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!
GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK!

The original battle royale
Mario Party was the original battle royale.
ZoomZike i have to strongly disagree. Kirby air ride is much closer to being a battle royale than Mario party

Greatest Game Who Ever Lived
Kirby's air ride is a very good rich person pleasure, but you will only ever be able to play if:
1. You got it from launch
2. Your friend got it from launch
3. You're rich
4. Your friend is rich
It was the standard *how did we digress*
Bruh, this was my childhood.
Same.
But how fast can you get 5 Hotdogs?
Fast enough to get the achievement.
Not a Kirby fan. But now I want to play this game.
YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY
GRAB SOME FRIENDS AND GO PLAY!!
This game must get a remake.
Nice.
I always loved this mode, but I wished there was a way to power up your ride's traction
When does traction matter a lot?
@@zoomzike With rides like Rex Wheelie or when you have way too much Top Speed/Acceleration
When you get three or four achievements at once though
I WISH THAT SOUND EFFECT PLAYED FOR MY IN REAL LIFE ACHIEVEMENTS!

The satisifaction of watching each checklist being marked off... =w=
