- In this video, we explore the life and revolutionary impact of Ibn Tumart, the Maghrebi Mahdi who spearheaded the Almohad Revolution and overthrew the Almoravid Empire. Despite his pivotal role in establishing the Almohad Dynasty, Ibn Tumart never lived long enough to witness the full extent of the empire he founded. Discover the key events of his rise to power, his revolutionary ideas, and how his vision reshaped medieval North Africa, even though he did not see its long-term impact.

@@ardattarikh it was not a kingdom it was more of a popular uprising around the figure of mokrani which was more of a religious figure

Salafi in my country said he is a ashari extrimist who massacred the Salafi AlMoravid, not know he shared some view with them like strictly following the Qur'an and Sunnah, totally forbiding musical instrument, and separating women and men. Actually AlMoravid also doing jihad against fellow Muslim Taifas in Andalus whose they view as decadent and unislamic, that's a hard choice, what will you doing if you at that position?
Yea he was an strictly Ashari and took the Tawhid in the other direction and saying any corporel features to Allah is shirk, it was essentially called Almodism their doctrine and it was mixed up with so many things, As for the Almoravids being Salafi they were purely Maliki Fiq and i think Ibn Toumert actions outside his Ashari Aqeedah would have more in common with Salafis. Ibn Toumert also critized Almoravid Women for not veiling because it was the men who veiled in their culture and not women and Ib toumert call them out. He essentially deemed the almoravids them as innovators. As for the Jihad the Almoravids conquered the barghwata (who were heretics), and they expanded North and South into west africa, But as for Al-andalus they saved Muslim spain because their Emirs were shady and doing alliances with the Christian Kings behind the Almoravid's back, so almoravids decide to annex the territory completely and excile those spanish emirs. For me the Almoravid Movement is much more inspiring, but the Almohads were impressive uniting the whole Berber lands into a single realm.
@@ardattarikh the salafi in my country think Almoravid are salafi because they are being accused as anthromorphist (mujassimah and mushabihah ) by Ibn Tumart as Salafi being labelled so by the Asharis
@@HilmiPrabowo-l3x where are you from? both Movements had characteristics of modern day Salafis the Almoravids were more on the athari creed thats probably why. The Almohad was more revolutionary plus the İbn Tumert also hated the Almoravids cause he believed his tribe the masmuda should rule that land cause they were from that area unlike the almoravids coming from the deep sahara.
@@ardattarikhBut in some way, The Almohads also extended the age of Al-Andalus, because Almoravids after conquering the Taifas, they became useless in many instances, their wars against the Christians were losses after losses due to their predictability and rigid army structure given to certain clans. Also, because of Famous Knights like El-Cid who had unfortunately Loyal Taifa Muslims who harbored resentment to the Almoravids, who were instrumental in his success against them, giving to rise to his legendary status and popularity as spanish hero . The Almohads could not do more to regain but they stopped the Christian inevitable reconquista away from the remaining Muslim territory of Al Andalus for a while. They won decisive victories as well. The only thing we criticize the Muwahids js their zealotry led to the loss of 100,000 muslim lives.
@@beyondheartmindsoul3443 Thank you for your comment and I do agree with you, The Almohads won great battle of Al-Arcos with Sultan Yaqub Al-Mansour very Great Ruler and Wairror. They extended Al-Andalus for some more decades, they were much more stable than the Almoravids and held the territory much longer and also a lot of cultural advancements and Ilm and sciences. The Almoravids are a bit overrated in my opinion but they have a better reputation. The Almohads were very violent too, the rise of the Bebers (Amazighs) in the west is similar to the rise of Turks in the east, Tribal wairrors storming out on Horseback. Furthermore, Many sources say the Almohads didn't stick on to Ibn Tumert's beliefs or even really believed he was actually the Mahdi, I known Yaqub Al-Mansur switched it back.
