Saving $10K Ferrari 360 Heat Exchanger Failure

- Our Ferrari 360 had the dreaded and common heat exchanger failure. When this happens the transmission oil and coolant will start to swap as the heat exchanger fails and allows coolant to push into the transmission. Once this happens, you have to flush the transmission and cooling system multiple times to get rid of the contaminates. We had used about 30 gallons of water and 10 gallons of trans oil flushing the systems about 7 times. It's a lot of work but this saved us a lot of money and we didn't have to replace the transmission.

There is a ghetto wat to clean all the cooling system, dissolve a dish washer tablet in the water and use it to flush it, will break all the oil and clean it easy.
Oh BTW there is a 360 Stradale Spider here in the UK, was an amazing conversion made by the RUclipsr Ratarossa. ;)

I say YES to the jeep build. I have a TJ myself, great fun and a great backup vehicle. I built mine with Nth Degree 6 inch long arm lift, ARB's front and rear, on board air, 35's, yada yada yada. As for the 360; make sure the tranny vent is open, it'll be blowing steam out as it hits operating temp the first time! lol

As disgusting and gnarly as it is, thanks for filming this repair job. It’s so cool to see you guys deal with it and we learn a lot. The 360 Spider is the first Ferrari model I drove, and it has a special place in my heart. Gross it can suffer this terrible failure😵💫

I know not one of the best loved Ferraris and I personally think they don’t look great front on at all………but I do own one and it’s a great, analogue and capable neo-classic car. You can keep the costs down by doing some jobs yourself…….this one, however, is my worst nightmare and why I visually check the coolant reservoir every 3rd or 4th trip out,

Than you,thank you! I’m in the process of doing the same project on my 2003 360 with 35K miles. Got it home after a short ride and it heated to 200. Shut it down immediately. Next day I saw an empty tank full of goop😝? Then I found my antifreeze in the gearbox. GREAT, OH SHIT!!

Should have run some blue devil radiator flush and oil degreaser through the system and then water flush would get everything out.

I can't imagine what a pain it would be to try and move/dispose/recycle a TUB of contaminated, dirty oil. It's the type of thing that would get put on the side of my house and then forgotten for months.

We put them in all our cars when the regular batteries die and haven’t had an issue. We’ve even put them in the cars we sell in our dealership when needed.
