    23 SEPT 2019 -- (1) ASMR UNBOXING (2) FIRST LOOK from min 3:38
"The comics that founded the Marvel Universe" --- Folio Society
"To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Marvel Comics #1, The Folio Society have decided to team up with the legendary editor, Roy Thomas, in order to select, remaster, and reproduce a lavish collection of Golden Age greats. Entitled, ‘Marvel: The Golden Age 1939-1949’, this specially curated selection of iconic comic books, five in total, have all been painstakingly restored with the intent of preserving their historical significance." --- Comic Book and Movie Reviews
"Roy Thomas was not only the first to succeed Stan Lee as Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief, he also co-created a host of Marvel characters that have since become household names, including Vision, Carol Danvers, Iron Fist and Ultron. Among the books he selected on behalf of The Folio Society is Marvel Comics #1. First published 80 years ago, this comic book features the debut appearances of two of Marvel’s founding heroes, the Human Torch and Namor the Sub-Mariner. A unique facsimile of this exceptionally rare item provides the collection’s showpiece. Printed on authentic paper, this is a reproduction so precise that it’s the closest you can get to owning a copy of the original comic. (Unless you can afford the real thing, which comes with a price tag of around $350,000.)" --- Folio Society
Below info from CBAMR on comicbookandmoviereviews.com
    1) What comics are included in this collection? The Sub-Mariner #1 (1941), The Human Torch #5 (1941), Captain America Comics #10 (1941), All Winners Comics #19 (1946), and a facsimile of Marvel Comics #1 (1939).
    2) How are they presented? Four of these comics have been bound within a hardback book and enlarged to a treasury-sized format so they can best reflect the details featured within. Whereas the fifth comic, on the other hand, Marvel Comics #1, is a facsimile which maintains its original proportions and size. Every aspect of all five books has been preserved to the nth degree, from the crinkles and creases in the grainy newsprint to the vintage adverts and short prose fiction. Even glitches, including original spelling errors and coloring overlaps, have been preserved.
    3) Where did these vintage comics come from? Due to their rarity and value, each comic was carefully retrieved from either the Marvel Archives or a private collector, and then scanned and showcased to highlight key characters and creators from this seminal era: ranging from Captain America to the Human Torch, all the way to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
    4) Does the collection come with anything else? This dazzling hardback volume is presented inside a handmade clamshell case featuring original artwork provided by the Marvel artist, Marco D’Alfonso, who also illustrates an exclusive print.
    5) Who’s Roy Thomas? Roy was the first person to succeed Stan Lee as Marvel Comics’ Editor-in-Chief, and throughout his fifty-year career, he helped co-create a number of very memorable characters, including The Vision, Carol Danvers, Iron Fist, and Ultron. For this collector's edition, he helped The Folio Society select the aforementioned comic books before writing an introduction that explains why they’re important to the creation of the Marvel Universe.

This looks cool. I’m more of a DC/Vertigo person but vintage comics look so cool! I think it would be a neat opportunity for Folio to delve into graphic novels too! I ended up splurging on The Shining as an early birthday present.

That's my hope too! They have been going in a good direction lately I feel. I have been sporadicly collecting their edition for 20 years but I have never been excited by any of them, as in a way that I have with some of their editions (not all) lately!

    It's scrumptious!
Is the paper as buttery IRL as it looks on camera?

The paper is buttery sheen if that make sense. I'm not quite sure how you define "buttery". Heh.

some of the reviews on the folio society's website talk about how dark some of the pages are, almost unreadable - did you notice this?

    • @NobodyHere
      @NobodyHere  4 года назад

They are a bit on the "darker" hues and I attributed this to the fact that these are facsimile copy.

That's excellent! I'm also a Tarot deck reader/collector and I have hundreds of comics (omnibus, HC and TPB), it's so fun to see that you also have these two interests!!! :) Great book, and awesome video!

I hope you start a comic channel soon! The only reason why I have both contents here is because I am moving on from one and going into another! And I don't have the time to start a new channel :P Thank you for watching!
