It's weird to realize i was 7 yrs.old at the time and my biggest problem was to do my homework on a Sunday so it would be ready Monday morning for school, that was my every weekend nightmare ,now I'm old and some things don't change...today my nightmare is a different one ,now i have to prepare a bunch of pills ,medications for the week on Sundays but sometimes I do it on Monday morning because there's no teacher to grade me : )
😂 I used to do my homework on Fridays and I enjoyed being free my weekend but my sister was like you. It was a nightmare because my parents and me were watching TV Sunday night and my sister will come crying that she forgot to do her homework for school and the whole family will start doing her homework Sunday night... now we remember those times and we laugh 😆
Aw they gave you homework on the weekends at just 7 years old? I could maybe understand 10 but 7? Dang that seems young for any era. I was 12 when I first got weekend homework. And 14 for holiday homework.
@@frdjr2529 oh good, and you are so happy being alive in the 1950s wish I was born earlier than 07 growing up without phones and elvis presley, frank Sinatra must have been great
Boys with Brillcreamed hair and Girls in white socks. This is back when a part of a tween kid's upbringing was to learn to dance with members of the opposite sex. After years and years of playing different games on opposite ends of the playground It was so exciting just to rest your hand on her waist and feel the warm.breath of a real live girl on your neck. It was literally and figuratively PURE MAGIC!
EXCELLENT video!!!! some of those poor boys, though, bless their hearts.. you know their mothers were saying to them "just go out there and dance with her, I know she's fat and ugly, but, you don't want to hurt her feelings by not dancing with her, now, go on!" LOL!! and that one poor kid dancing with his mother and then making that face when the camera was on him, priceless!!
Yes; and then, the fat ugly girl went to college, majored in business, started to cut her own way, slimmed down and said, fuck you, and went to law school and became one of the top corporate lawyers in the country. Oh YES, YES!!!
Bit of a correction here... at 1:18 the kids are doing The Chalypso probably to "La Dee Dah" (by Billy and Lillie). They aren't doing The Stroll until 1:40.
Oh i wish I could be a teenager in those times just for one day, disco's nowadays where I am from are just lads asking girls "will you meet( kiss) my mate"
Bites when the goils are taller than you! Bites more when an angry parent charges the dance floor hunting their kid whom THEY wouldn't let go there! I've heard of people getting in trouble for using "At The Hop" on YT... you lucky ****!

I was born in 1958,but my older brothers were tearin' it up at Teen Center and hops such as this!
Great footage of when Rock was young ,thexexcitement of this great music ,bye bye mr American pie ❤
I remember sock hops at the skating rinks after the last skate. Fun times.
I miss those days.
the difference between now and then was that kids aren't pulling out their cell phones theyre getting out and socializing and having fun! ^_^
To u this may seem fun and a cool aesthetic but fuck living in 1950s thing was much more difficult let's just appreciate today's generation
Another big difference is the kids weren't pulling guns out, and shooting each other.
“Phones are bad!”
This looks like a lot of fun. However, this is way before my time.
Good ol’ fashioned dancing. Now when I step on the dance floor I just see people twerking on each other. LOL

I love hearing the music in The Stroll. I was born generations later.
I was only 6 in '58 and already buying 45s and listening to the radio. What a time that was!
Are you still alive tho
Very much so!
@@frdjr2529 oh good, and you are so happy being alive in the 1950s wish I was born earlier than 07 growing up without phones and elvis presley, frank Sinatra must have been great
It was a fun time! AM radio, vinyl 45s and music you'd be humming for a lifetime. Welcome to the baby boomers!
@@frdjr2529 haha sounds really great
the boys’ outfits were so handsome and charming
This was several years before I was born, but I like watching clips of old home movie reels 🙂❤️

Best years ever ....
wait they actually danced TOGETHER thats odd to think about now cuz nobody does that they just stand around awkwardly lol
Most of the girls a head taller an twice as wide. Brings back memories.
Kids of that age were so much better looking then and I bet not one of them had a tattoo!

Looks like middle school and elementary grades.
A bunch of Jerry Lewis looking mother fuckers.
Back when you could be six years old, and were told be back for dinner. What happened?
The tall girl with the white shirt...I LOOOVE her flat T-strap shoes. I'm about to go online to search for them. 😁
One of these kids went hippie at one point...

Very cute loved it..wasn’t born yet
are you saying that your parents met at this dance?
Sound track is perfect. Wonder exactly what yr the dance party was?
The year is on the title; 1958
All nicely dressed up as it should be. Unlike today's youth when they go out dancing.
We had to take our shoes off because of the gym floor. that’s why it was called a sock hop.
Good footage of teeny boppers.
Year I was born
my best years ever I never thought it would change. I had the best girlfriend ever I blew it
What happened?
That was good
Para mi eso si es ritmoooo

Music was great. No rap or hip hop b.s.

One person doesn't like 1950s dancing.
The girls are taller than
