I loved this song when it came out in 92 and the following year my wife passed away. I listened to this song on repeat for many a days and nights while holding her clothes breathing in her scent. I thought I had plenty of time because we were young. Only married for four months she left this world. So everyday show her love and let her know how much you care because you may not get another chance.

I'll be honest. I first heard this song on Alicia's album and played it for my then boyfriend. He simply smiled and said, "Hold on a sec." He disappeared into his room, came back with a CD, loaded it into the stereo, and that's when I heard Brian's voice in all its glory. This song was so beautiful (and still is) that I simply held him and cried. Such a precious memory!

Despite his feeble attempts to stay relevant with his raunchy lyrics on ONE of his many many songs, this guy is a brilliant songwriter and extraordinary singer. So hate all you want. With today's whack ass lyrics in songs and all the names women are called in song and rap lyrics, he has no choice but to try. But hey, the trick was to keep you talking about him. This is what keeps him relevant, you can't deny the body of work that he's accomplished. Mission Accomplished. Because you ARE talking about him. I will continue to make a living sounding like him, and continue to buy everything that he produces. I am a songwriter as well and I need to stay relevant as well.
I'm sure McKnight will cry all the way to Bank Of America over you not liking ONE SONG that he created controversy over. Get over yourself. Enjoy his beautiful work.

Not sure anyone reads these anymore, let alone Mr. McKnight, but as a classically trained pianist, I am still in awe of his genius compositions. They’re mind bongoling. My brother, being a musician also, has been a DIE HARD fan, and has met his “team of musicians “....(they’re more talented than backup), and they’ve said that he at times changes the entire song with a new arrangement, sometimes a half hour before they go on! I’ve played with symphonies all over, and have had to know an entire 28 page concerto in 2 hours, but THAT’S just pure genius.
I listen to every single word in this song, and each word penetrated my heart. What a beautiful song, so romantic. I Thank God for your vocals and I thank you for singing such an amazing song.
