This piece of footage I'm not sure where it came from. It has Mama Cass who insist on mis-pronouncing their name every time.
So lucky to have grown up listening to their music! " A never once again" Thank you!
it's just as fresh today as it was in 1969
I never get tired of this song....love it!!!
Same
Me either.
Same here!
I agree it is a great song
Mega ditto
Who ever lived through this time and saw them , you’re beyond lucky
I saw them so many times at lake Tahoe they played at a place called the Sanctuary. One of the best groups I saw. We paid $5 for the concerts
This is from the Television Show, " The Music Scene " it aired on 12/1/69...
The performers on that show were: --Mama Cass Elliot sings "New World Coming" --Creedence Clearwater Revival sings "Down On The Corner --Creedence Clearwater Revival sings "The Night Time Is The Right Time" --Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 sing "Ye-Me-Le" and "Witichita Lineman" --Neil Diamond sings "Both Sides Now" and "Holly Holy"
Thanks for this clarification!
And CSNY (Down By The River)
I love how enthusiastically Stu's playing that gut bass!
As Black Guy I absolutely LOVE ❤️ this Song it's better than most songs in 2023.
Correction: All...
@@RichardOsborne-p3w👍✌️
Why as a black guy? How is this relevant?
TRUE BEST musicians died ALL before the 80" !!😮😢😮😮😮
Interesting, sounds like the pre-record but John's voice sounds live, guess they could have used a mix without the lead vocal. What a voice he had!
"Bring a nickel, tap your feet" Great time growing-up with CCR and all the other good music of that era.
I agree
Mama Cass.... introducing CCR this version. Best video of this tune. ♥️
she is an imbecile
I used to commute to work from Vallejo to downtown Oakland. One of my back road routes when the freeway was clogged was on 6th St. In Berkeley into Oakland. The first time I drove it I freaked as I passed the corner of 6th St & Peralta Ave. in Oakland and saw the old Duck Kee Market on the corner there. That's the market on the album cover of Willie & the Poor Boys.
They got t-shirts from the market on Amazon.
Probably between late 1969 and early 1971, CCR's peak. Song was released as a single in late 1969, when they played it on Ed Sullivan Show. More shows like this put Sullivan off the air.. Sullivan was pushing 70 years old at time anyway.. This show, American Bandstand, and other variety shows. Up until 1966, Sullivan was pretty much the only one at prime time...
Looks like John sang live but the music was canned - er - pre-recorded. There's someone playing that bass beat and it's not Tom, or Stu. Actual show is ID'd in the comments by Dave Walley.
It's good to see Mama Cass introducing Creedence Clearwater Revival
Best band ever!
For me is CCR the greatest Band ever, great musican and great music! John,Doug,Stu and Tom
🎸🎤🥁
I'm only 43... think nearly the same
I know they rocked the house on Ed Sullivan's show twice, March of 1969 with Proud Mary and November of same year, with this song and "Fortunate Son.." They probably played American Bandstand but don't recall this show's name. Looks like anywhere between Fall of 1969 and Fall of 1970. The man here, who I have no idea is, also introduced Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young around same time period...
They played Green River on Clarks show ruclips.net/video/9CmWDfYZe-I/видео.html
Everybody give a clap to Clarence Clearwater Revival. This seems to be Tonight Show
My brother had the album this came from with them shown as they are and I remember thinking this is cool.
TV show Music Scene (Cass Elliot was the guest host). Found this info on CCR's facebook page.
@@PicadorCriminal
Saludos
Ohhhh! its "doubles on kazoo". I always thought it was "Devil's on kazoo". Thanks John and RUclips.

Now that right there is the best ever
Wow! I never knew a gut bass and washboard could make those sounds!
:D😂
I came into the comments looking for this exact post. Thank you, Shitlord.
What about the drums ;)
Stu was loving playing his string on the stick.
+mcaddicts You could tell by that expression on his face when the camera showed him up close. He kind of laughed.
~Dutch
That's the Gut Base that Blinky solos for a while on. Legitimate instrument. ;)
Travis Kingston I think they are all playing those instruments on Poorboy Shuffle with John on harmonica.
They're missing a guy blowing into an empty wine jug.
They had drum tracks back then?😉
guitar player has a backing track. Difficult to play both lead and rhythm at same time.
I'm the gost of Tom! All those emojis make me wake up from gravee, jajaja. Is a feeling and love for CCR that we all have.
Lip syncing at its best. I love these guys!!
I love this song
Real music, don't hate appreciate!
It's not lipsync, if you knew Creedence well enough you knew that... the music is from the record but not his voice. In any of CCR's appearences on TV John Fogery used playback for his voice... not even in Good Golly Miss Molly or Fortunate Son.
LS is illegal and a federal offense.
@@Ih8kone Moron. Back then laws were not what they are today and second. It isnt Lip Syncing by LAW if it is your music. Only if it is someone elses voice.
The music is playbacked, but vocals aren't
Awesome footage!😊
RIP Cass..
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw! I love CCR and this video is so cute!!
This is Beautiful
Great tune!
Just so right for their time !
Fabulosa cancion ❤❤❤
CCR.
2024 e veu ainda currtindo... mais alguém?
it's of course completely lip synched, but Fogerty is clearly singing along, and having just cut the track a few weeks or months ago at the time, he knows it inside and out, hence the great job he did singing in perfect sync.
I've seen other stars of the day doing just that; they really ARE singing, just not on the track. You can hear him yell "all together now" at the end, at a far far lower volume than the lead vocal on the track.
The "all together now" is lower in volume because its Doug Clifford, the drummer, who leans over to the microphone that John is using and says that line. He is not as close as John to the mic, thus it comes out lower in volume. But I wasn't there at that session so.....
So badass
My favourite CCR song
Classic song 🎶
Love it
looks like one of the Mamas was a little jealous hahahaha
A later episode of this had CSNY playing Down By the River
Clearly not live
I love CCR. But the miming they made them do on TV in those days is ridiculous.
Who was the host of this show? The guy with Mama Cass at the beginning??
Ann Pommer Thank you. I remember the Sullivan Show, Smothers Brothers and other shows but not this guy or the show..
David Steinberg
Down on a corner Audi In The street XD

Lmfaoo
There are a " Bathroom on the right " :v
😂😂😂
Ccr best of the wold danke John
Classic Fantastic!
Love song....instruments....❤
Oh BROTHER! You folks have to be everywhere? Don't analyze! Just enjoy!!!!!
Mary Kilbride REALLY! I think its really a robot alien from the new world order.
isso que e musica!!!
That is John singing! Why are people saying it's lip syncing????
John is singing live to a recorded track.
Yeah, but who is playing the drums and better yet, where are they?
recorded track
and to think how everybody made such a big deal out of Milli Vanilli.
BagdadBill They actually did play these instruments on one of the songs off of the Willey and the Poorboys album (Poorboy Shuffle, I think.).
You don't cross Ed twice.
After the Beatles broke up CCR was the number #1 band in the world regarding record sales.
Who's drumming?
Hard to believe these guys are from California I would’ve bet a million they were from Louisiana they got that Cajun twang for sure
¡Creedence forever!
excelente video felicidades!!!
Quelindohermosamusicagraciasyhon❤
Available on vhs form,in 1984,from ccr german fanclub.awesome.creedence.seen 3 times
Porque hacen playback????
sory creedence vous étés vraiment incroyable On the Corner
excelente💝!!!
Mama cass.... hilarious!
I have to agree that all four members were important to this group. Tom's background singing, Stu's personality and Doug's steadiness. They were a great four-some. I think they were the group that blew away the Beatles......John Fogerty had the most memorable voice and songs that the Beatles could not duplicate.I think they destroyed the Beatles with their talent. CCR had the heart and soul of America in every song...Just like the Beach Boys who also managed to dominate the charts. CCR's music has outlasted even the Beatles.
The drummer should have been on buckets
lol,boy did the ole band bet on the wrong horse on this deal!!!john forgerty doing well and whos the other people were talking about?lol
It is from The David Steinberg Show.
Oh really?
you guys are right - total lipsync. No symbols around and the base player isn't moving his left hand for different notes. But this is a great song!
my dad was there when this was made
die hatten noch Spaß, ich auch wieder...
Dude plays a mean branch
I wonder if they felt stupid standing up there pretending to play the song? If I was in the audience, I would have felt cheated that they weren't really playing their instruments.
ABC-TV, "Music Scene", December 1, 1969
Mama Cass Elliot may or may not be high.. She definitely loved her "stuff," but she had a boisterous personality and way about her, which would cause her to mispronounce a name, or do something intentionally goofy, as she does here..
Where the fuck u get Morocco’s
