The Best Day-Date Watches - Meet the Islander Greenport

- Integrating a day and date feature into a watch is tricky business. For one, you do not want the dial to be too cluttered. Secondly, doing as Seiko does creates an imbalance on the dial. To remedy this, we've got the new Islander Greenport, featuring an awesome vertical day/date feature. Located at the 6:00 position on the dial, it looks naturally placed, and is still easy to read.
There are 5 Greenports to choose from. They are 39mm divers with useful dual time bezels. Couple it with sapphire crystals and ceramic bezels, and you have the makings of an awesome watch. Priced at just $279, this might be our biggest bargain ever.

So much I like about this one! That vertical day date integration is killer, and I love that you went with the 12 hour bezel. Great use of colors too. And I'm kind of amazed that you were able to get the price that low with sapphire, ceramic and a bracelet. Really nailed it this time!

Marc, this is a masterpiece. You continue to knock it out of the park. 39mm the perfect size for me, beautiful colors, great lume and a vertical day/date window. How can you go wrong with this? Definitely my next pickup.

Great job on these. I do have to say the black and blue look very similar at least on camera. Although the green also looks much lighter on camera than it does in photos on the website. But I do like the overall design of these. I feel it could work with all kinds of complimentary colors, should you decide to expand the line. Great value too.

The Islander blue & white dial is striking, but since it's close to my Squale 1521, I went with the dark blue. Can't wait to see it in person! 😃
You can get SKX mods and the like just about anywhere now, I really dig the original design path being taken with the latest few releases.

The day/date window is wonderfully incorporated into the dial. Seriously, considering this one for my collection. Not sure which one, though. 🤔
Very nice watches. Especially the dark ones. They have that retro 70s metropolitan design to them. If thats such a thing and what you were going for.
39mm yyyeessss!!!! Just wish the black came with a blue bezel or vice versa. Would've preferred more color contrast on those, otherwise I love the design!
Very sharp looking dials, but not a fan of the Miyota 8 series...but do appreciate the costs being kept down. Wish they were closer to 11mm, but very nice nonetheless

With this watch you've addressed the biggest complaint I have about many watches, including some Islanders: small, hard-to-read date windows. This day and date complication looks extremely legible due to the layout and colors.

Man, you weren't exaggerating about balance! Superb work, the white/blue sings to me particularly. Question for anyone/everyone: perhaps not traditionally, but would you consider a 200m WR watch a diver that sports a non-timing bezel? Not trying to be snarky, genuinely interested in your thoughts.
Love your work, Marc. It's really inspiring. Have you thought about ditching the clock icon? It seems out of context if "Islander" is the brand. I am not a graphic designer but it clashes visually to me. I could see something nautical, given the word. Or nothing at all - just a suggestive font.
Hey Marc! I know those aren't quick release bracelets, but it looks like it's easier than most bracelets to remove, like I could use two springbar tools at the same time to compress that springbar and release it. Is that the case?

Scary... was viewing a you tube watch guy review of the venezicano mother of pearl , went to the site and put it in my cart. Also saw the Rosa pink watch and that went in the cart as well. Left comments on the you tube watch guy review to the effect that I'm holding back hoping Mark is gonna pop a new release, I'll get islander quality and value. Bang the pink greenpoint is in my inbox !yes it's on the way. Mark, time to play around with mop. BTW, the 39 will put them on a lot of ladies wrists.
Now this is an interesting watch and the black orange is fire. I would be all over it if it was 41-42 mm. 39mm looks a little small.

I know this is off topic, but thought I'd ask. I bought a 29mm Kanagawa wave dial off of you a few weeks ago. Do you have a Islander GMT that this dial would fit in as is without modification and or would this dial accommodate a NH34 at all?
the waffle dial gmt would fit that dial.
I love the designs you are trying. Am I correct the reason you went with a Miyota 8205 was because you could not do that with a Seiko NH36? Just curious. I LOVE the 9015 but the 8205, not so much.
no, you cannot do it with Seiko.

Unless you have a 9075 version of the Republic GMT in the works. Then that would be my next purchase.
