Thanks for providing such great info on ordering online! It can be a bit confusing and you have broken it down well.
Great topic Troy. Haven’t purchased any fish online yet but I’m definitely looking forward to the day. I actually live very close to Global Fish Co, it’s an amazing store.
One of my favorite spots for sure!
I’ve had good and not so great experience with ordering on line. I love the variety that’s available! Hate the shipping prices but love getting the fish I want so I’m willing to pay it.
Thanks for this information. I have been reluctant to order fish online and have just been buying from big box retailers. This limits the type of fish you can purchase since they are relatively too small for larger tanks.
While I've been inthe hobby for 60+ years, I still found this video informative. For example, "plop and drop"appears so, so, sooo
much easier than my traditional 2+ hours of drip acclimation. It's probably a lot smoother for the fish's transition as well.
I look forward to using it with my next purchase.
Awesome! Glad it was informative!
I have had great luck with my local stores. They are usually much cheaper than online in my experience. But sometimes online is the only option depending on what you are looking for. If that's the case you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I've never had a bad experience online.
Love it very informative thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and topic thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Once again one more very great video very well done , you guys actually have a very good experience with fish, adore Watching yr videos, jeep going 👍👍 já
Glad you like them! Appreciate the kind words!
Great video addressing some key points.
Thank you! 👊🏻👊🏻
I used only 2 retailers so far. Imperial Tropicals, and Aqua Huna. Imperial Tropicals was great, Aqua Huna left much to be desired.
Agreed on Imperial, that's been a primary go to for us. Sorry to hear about the other retailers, haven't ordered from there before.
thank you late to vid new to hobby, had wondered what online FS to use since mine have come from pets supplies plus, theyve taken excellent care and helped me with my startup. im a month into this and hooked
Aqua huna was the first place I’ve ordered online 2 3 years ago got Corey cats and shrimp both have produced hundreds of fry since last order was imperial tropicals nyererei cichlids 4/5 didn’t make it which was odd because they were in the same type of water as my other African cichlids will try them again though good looking fish
Wow.... very good informative video... lots of love n respect from india 🇮🇳🤗🙏 always love ur content n follow ❤️
Im a year late to this video . I had just started up my an African cichlids tank and was wondering where could I buy or order good quality fish. You guys really helped me out. I live in Kissimmee Florida and im actually within driving distance of Imperial Tropicals. Its only 47 minutes from me . Thanks again Cichlid Bros 💯
Awesome! They’re definitely a go to for us!
I see Discus Madness on your list of on-line retailers. All I can say is from my experience of the is.
Yes
👏👏👏 Great advice... Thank you Bro
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful!
Great subject! I have always been Leary of buying fish online. But because I can't find the fish I wanted I have to order online. I now have ordered 3 or 4 times online and had only 1 DOA the vender immediately made it right. Having several large tanks and liking the larger fish most times I need to go online. Also I appreciate the list of vendors to add to my searches. Thanks again for another great content useful for all and especially for those nervous about ordering online!
I buy 90% of my fish online and I’m talking thousands of dollars and hundreds of fish. I’ve only had 2 issues that were made right by the seller
@razin Fishes, any vendors or website you recomend❓️
@@jmh6223 I have use the cichlid shack, Trinns fish and shore aquatics. Shore aquatics I bought mystery snails from but the other I bought several cichlids from. All the fish are healthy. I've been happy with all my purchases no complaints for any of these vendors
@@razinfishes1918 Thanks buddy. ive heard about the cichlid shack lately, might have to give them a try!
@@jmh6223 no problem glad to help. The cichlid shack is a great resource for sure. They take great care in getting your fish to you safely and great health.
Thanks, good information bros
You have great information. I am just setting up a 60 gallon tank and wish I had you in my back pocket. I’ve watched your videos for quite a while. It’s been 20 years since I’ve had a tank and things have really changed. I love cichlids and am going that route. What are my options for this size tank. Wishing I had seen your video re 125 gallon two weeks ago!!!
Really being very sincere with you, what I really admire, us to see how you guys learn your lesson about this hobby, now b we being secured about the information's to who is starting in this hobby, just keep doing the great videos that yr posting, congratulations to all of you. 👍👍
I've bought online when there is a fish I want that my LFS doesn't get. However, I'm lucky to have a great LFS nearby, so I get 95% of my fish there. I much prefer being able to see the fish I'm buying beforehand. I have never had an issue with ordering online. In fact, I've never had a fish arrive DOA. Great point on having even more size options, though I usually want young juvies to grow out.
I add fish the same way and I’ve ordered tons of fish online all good experience can’t say the same with lfs or box stores here the selection is only good at the lfs but it’s only 1 small store
I have had great luck buying fish online. Almost 100% survival rate. I had a few small Cardinal tetras arrived dead. I reported to the seller and he pointed out due to cardinals don’t ship as well as others he always over-ships the amount you buy to compensate for, possible loss. I was still 2 ahead of what I payed for
Lovely
Awesome video. Can you put a link in the description where you got them tank lights at?
Thanks! Here you go: AI Prime Lights - amzn.to/35yWwA8
Ive been selling fish online for 25 years. 22 years on ebay!
I've noticed my local fish stores are more expensive than ordering online even when adding the expensive shipping cost. Especially with African cichlids.
NICE fish tank.. 👍
Thanks!
I've had mixed experience ordering online. Got some sick fish from what I thought was a reputable online dealer, which I know is always a possibility, but it was pretty obvious and they should've seen it before they shipped. Also ordered a male 3-4" hap from imperial tropicals after seeing one of your videos, and they sent me a 1.5" fish. So far the other cichlids have left him a alone, but I've obviously had to keep a close eye on the tank in case I need to rehome this fish. Also, because of how small the fish was, I don't necessarily trust that it was a male yet. Luckily I have a great local shop that I get most of my fish from otherwise.
Sorry to hear that! Imperial has always come through for us luckily. Probably the retailer we've used the most over the years. Thanks for sharing though
great vid
Thanks!
I've ordered from a company called FishDirect its always been a great experience.
Oh by the way I LOVE WINDOW SHOPPING TOO 🐟❤🐟❤🐟❤🐟❤👀👀👀🤩🤩
nice! i live close to Imperial Tropicals
Very nice
@@CichlidBros just placed an order for a red spotted Severum and a geo sveni, let’s see how it goes, thanks for the suggestion!
Seeing that you guys are in the Chicagoland area do you ever go to the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association swaps?
Haven't yet but would love to make it there at some point soon!
Hey I have a turtle in a 55 gallon What kind of cichlid would be a good tankmate i was thinkig a concict or eletric blue acara.what is your opinon
I ordered online from a few different stores had a couple of bad experience but the stores made up for it but one store which was one of my favorite most of the order was the wrong fish 🐟 I we could not come up with Agreement to fix the order One of my friends that was local to that store Was telling me that they not only moved But it was also a change of ownership around the time I order
Damn you guys must be from Chicago, that looks like Aqaurium Adventure in Bolingbrook. I go there all the time.
Yep, it is!
I always base my choice if they have a very good customer service.. even if you are not buying but they answer your questions honestly.. then i buy online..
True. We've only had positive experiences / customer service from the retailers mentioned
Ima about to switch to online still nervous about it. The local independants in my area all only sell saltwater
I think the only comment I have is there some online retailers that I have messaged that never did get back to me. Thinking it’s probably because I’m in northern Manitoba Canada. But not positive. Be nice if they would get a hold of me if they can or can’t ship to me for some reason. approximately a 4 Hour Dr. to get to a pet store in my area. so ordering online would be awesome. Any suggestions?
Can you share websites to buy fishes worldwide 🌐 or for Asia, from where to buy fishes online?
Have you heard news about Old Orchard Aquarium? Are they planning on opening back up?
Yep. I heard there was a new store opening soon but not sure about the details
So you still quarantine even if they quarantine, like Ron’s Cichlid. I find that most of the fish are 1 to 3” which makes more difficult to add to mature fish
What is the fish on the right hand side at 2:30? I have one that looks just like it with a similar looking mouth. Thought it was deformed because I had gravel in the tank with it for the first year.
It’s my Jurupari. Has a slight slant in the jaw even though I’ve always had sand. It’s a slight defect that some eartheaters get as they age. This one is 4-5 years old now
anybody have recommendations for a website that ships fish in canada?
Can i keep muba cichlids with Oscar fish
where can I find Taeniacara Candidi
If buying online you have to pay for shipping but if you get your local shop to order the fish they don’t charge you shipping. At least not mine. Shipping cost is more than the fish. Sometimes it is hard to be home to sign for package depending what job you have.
As mentioned in the video, local fish stores rarely have the exact species and size that I’m looking for. I’ll pay for quality, convenience, and selection
What if you live in a cold climate? Is this something that would prevent online ordering?
Should be fine with overnight shipping. If it’s too cold in your region, the retailer will usually wait until it’s slightly warmwr
which online source would you say has the best/safest packing?
I’ve really thought they all did a great job. One that stood out was Tangled Up in Cichlids. It was packed really firmly
@@CichlidBros ah, good to know. I had similar experience with them. took forever to unpack them lol but man were they packed well.
I cant find any that ship to California
Sheeeeshhh on flip aquatics. 10 green neons are 101 bucks after shipping and taxes. That’s a little over board..
😁👍
Can I keep Silver Scat in freshwater tank?
Should be able to although normally they're kept in Brackish water. I would just very gradually change salinity if you're making adjustments
The only way I'm ordering fish online only if my lfs never stock the cichlids I'm lookin for dat shipping price is not cheap so if my lfs can get it for me I order thru dem
Any experience with cichlids of the americas
No experience with them yet!
can you give the list of retailers
List is in the description of the video. Will try to keep it updated over time
I’m lucky I got 4 LFS all 20 mins or less from me💯
What kind of fish is that yellow one at 6:45?
Yellow Jacket cichlid
@@CichlidBros Thanks!!!
Imperial tropicals. And the shack. Are my go to…..online companys. 🐠
Cichlid Shack is not a quality source for online shipment. Brutal experience.
@@billdidesch905 oh wow
We’ve been happy with our 4 separate orders from them. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience
@@CichlidBros They cater to several youtubers so @cichlid Bros experience is not going to be typical of the average customer. They're 3+ weeks to ship IN STOCK fish, terrible communication and the owner is downright rude when things go wrong. He only cares about the dollar and not the fish or happy customers. Avoid. I've had great experiences with the others on this list.
@@billdidesch905 I can’t speak to all of that, but I can say they weren’t catering to us. For all of the orders mentioned in the video, none of the companies knew we who we were. All bought and paid for like normal
The problem is that I get like 3x the price online..
Gotta be resourceful and look at multiple retailers. Outside of that, you get what you pay for - healthy fish that are exactly what you order
Sorry but not here in Australia it costs minimum $45 plus another $25 for DOA.It just costs to much. And it's not overnight shipping it can take a few days,I've had to many fish die as our shipping companies are rubbish,so I won't be buying online.Especially through winter.
Maybe companies will catch up at some point. In the US it’s not that way at all
@@CichlidBros Not while they are making so much 💰
I wish it didn't cost so much for shipping
AMEN
That overnight shipping is tough.
@@johndoll8539 too rich for my…BLOOD
Thanks! Guys I appreciate you messaging me back
Of course! Thanks for watching
Buying online is way to expensive for me the shipping is outrageous
Worth it in my opinion. Convenience, shipped right to your door. And healthy fish. I’ll pay $30 shipping for that most times
I use to work for ups terrible company to work for and id never trust them shipping fish they throw and jam pack in every package
Türkhis langue please 🙏

I text you because I need to know what kind of fish that I put in with a carrot fish but I didn't get an answer
