    I love solving those systematically! Thank you so much. I started today with finding out there were specific techniques and your channel is the best for learning them. Very well explained! 👏

      What is interesting about solving systematically is after a few times you develop intuitions and insights into the way the patterns show up. This then leads to new systematic approaches. It's like logic and intuition dance with each other.

    I don’t consider myself a beginner since I can solve medium and semi hard puzzles. Yet I’m really glad I watched this. There are logic tricks I never knew of and I am excited to try them.
    The explanation is precise and very visual. Even with that I paused and rewound the video to fully grasp the concepts (I guess I just showed my age with knowledge of VHSs). In conclusion, even if you don’t think you are a beginner, it’s worth the watch!

      Many of the tutorial videos have practice exercises at the end. Try to do the practice exercises because they really help you master each technique. I'm glad you are stoke!

    I know this is old but I just found it. I wish you would have kept the row and column numbers marked so I could follow along quicker. When you say something like r2c5 us newbies have to count that out and in doing so can’t quite keep up with your explanations.

      You make a good point. I should have thought of it. Now I'm thinking I will have to redo both beginner tutorials in the future. I'm currently working on my next book about solving ultra extreme puzzles. Once this get's done I will take a look at redoing the beginner videos. I'm really kicking myself with your comment because it's just such an obvious thing to do!!

    Slight mistake at the 3:50 mark of the video. It should be column 5 not column 4 for the column house being shared by cell R2C5.

  • @dxsudokuchannel

    There is an error at the 3:40 mark of the video. In the text it says cell "R2C3" and it should be "R2C5".

    8:35 After watching your other videos, I just realized that locked candidates type 1 are effectively naked triples, right? The 589 clears the 5s, 8s, & 9s, from the rest of the row.
    I'm finished watching the video, and it's good. Thanks.

    • @dxsudokuchannel

      In this example it was both a Naked Triple and Locked Candidates by pointing. This is not always the case. Take a look at this example:
      imgur.com/ol8DKb0
      I guess I could have used a better example. What I liked about the example I used is it hammered home the possible 5 candidates could only occur in the top line of cells of block 1. But your way of looking at it did not occur to me at the time! But you have the right mind. I am always amazed by some of the crazy facets I find in puzzles. I'm working on the X-Chain tutorial and I found a really cool not very common facet to how the technique works. I am looking forward to showing it in the video.

      @@dxsudokuchannel, I'm looking forward to the X-Chain tutorial.
      In the Imgur image, is the triple on the right side?

    • @dxsudokuchannel
      @dxsudokuchannel  4 года назад

      @@eugenetswong At this time, there's no Naked or Hidden Triple with the house making up row 1 with the puzzle shown in imgur link above. Locked Candidates eliminating possible candidates usually lead up to having Naked Triples and Hidden Triples.

    Hi, can you recommend which techniques I should be learning next and in what particular order after these 7 base techniques you talked about ? These seven work for most of the puzzles. Now I wanna learn something to solve advanced puzzles? Please guide me here. Thank you! :)

    • @dxsudokuchannel
      @dxsudokuchannel  4 года назад +1

      After the 7 base techniques I would look at Skyscraper, 2-String Kite, and Empty Rectangle next. For the advanced techniques there's no real order. In the software guides for Sudoku Joy and Andoku 3 I tell you which techniques are need for each level. You should then concentrated on techniques for each level. If you have a PC, I recommend you use Hodoku to further your skills. See all the Hodoku videos. Hodoku medium level is really good after you get the 7 base techniques down. At some point my plan is to do a play list for each difficulty level for the 3 programs I provide guides for.

      @@hg8549 Here is the Andoku 3 User Guide:

      48 seconds into the video there is a list of the techniques you need to know by difficulty level. This is very good way for you to figure out what you need to learn next so you can practice for each level.

      @@dxsudokuchannel I have saved it. Thank you again. I was doing sudoku in papers for months without realising how much more intricate and interesting it really is. Your videos are so detailed. I've learnt a couple of techniques from you till now. I enjoy the testing puzzles a lot. xD

      For PCs I like Hodoku. For my iPhone I like Sudoku Joy. For my Kindle Fire which is an Android device I like Andoku 3. I like Hodoku the best because it has "Learning Mode". Learning mode is the best!

    Triple confused again... @ 12:59, why not include cell 3,6 in set of triples? It actually has all 3 candidates!

    • @sgarcata
      @sgarcata 2 года назад

      So because it also has a 9? But then isn't it a hidden triple?

    • @dxsudokuchannel
      @dxsudokuchannel  2 года назад

      @@sgarcata Because the 9 is preventing cell 3, 6 from participating in a Naked Triple. It has four candidates. All cells participating in a Naked Triple must have 2 or three candidates exactly. Just concentrate on understanding Naked Triples first. Hidden Triples are a different animal. This tutorial might help you better understand the nature of a Naked Triple:
      ruclips.net/video/RLH-PcGqLA0/видео.html
      It's titled "What makes a triple a triple"

      @@budhachandrayumkhaibam6079 No problem. It's all good. I've had your sentiment about it being robotic. However, I just like solving the puzzles even if at times some of the steps are robotic. Take a look at some the Uniqueness Rectangle puzzle solving techniques. They are amazingly complex. I think there are different degrees to what is robotic and what is insightful and interesting.
