    There will definitely be quite a few episodes of adjusting to just how massive this game is, and a lot to take in so I do hope you enjoy the journey of the learning curve...I am enjoying this game tremendously even though I feel like I barely progress each episode! Please be patient while I learn and improve over time, I can already see myself enjoying countless hours of this game, BG1 & 2, and a future Dark Urge replay? If there's demand. Thanks for watching your support on this series so far has left me floored, hope to see you all join me until the end

      Love seeing your first time play through as someone who has got 1000+ hours in the game. If you do Durge play through I loved playing a Gith Rouge who romanced Laezel. Id only say resting often is good, short rests wont help magic but long rests will but you'll get alot of companion dialogue in camp plus replenish mage spells. Without spoilers alot of new players even myself the first time, their is a point in Act 1 where you'll be advised to go one of two places in after visiting those places you'll go to Act 2. But you can visit both if you just fast travel to a waypoint, if you dont do such you miss out on amazing content for yourself and companions as the game doesnt tell you that you can visit both. Hope you keep loving the game !

      This game has a world, with something to explore around every corner and as thoroughly as you search there will be things missed. So don't think of it as having to progress, have fun and go at whatever pace you wish! And for the question asked in the video. I personally am happy to watch the whole journey, looting, inventory management and all, but also get it if you need to trim down.

    It's a good idea to visit camp regularly. It's this game's version of the Normandy or the camp in Origins. It's where you can develop relationships with companions. Also some story beats/cutscenes are only triggered by long resting and can potentially be missed.

    The only reason Lae'zel was able to talk to Shadowheart on the nautiloid was because Shadowheart wasn't in your party yet. Any companion can talk to an NPC, but only you can talk to your companions.

    I feel like you're the perfect person for this game because you have that "can I do this?" curiosity that this game really rewards (or punishes you for lol). I'd be happy with no cuts but do what you want! Inventory management can get really messy because you pick up so much but you've already got a good idea about immediately sending items to whoever you think can use them... that will become more clear as you go on.

    Sneak Attack is a weird mechanic to wrap your head around for newcommers. You missed the tooltip at 1:02:11, so here: As a Rogue, Astarion's main focus should be to make Sneak Attacks every turn. To do that he NEEDS ONE OF TWO THINGS:
    - Either have a friend to the party within 5feet of the target
    - OR (and the OR is very important here) have advantage on the attack. Advantage can be from: attacking a prone enemy, attacking while hidden (which rogues can do as a bonus action) and any number of other status effects given by abilities and conditions from other characters. So if he fails to hide, due to attempting to hide within the enemy's cone of vision: use your party to synergize. Astarion was easily the biggest damage dealer for single target damage in my party for almost the entire game.

    • @ЯАга-я4л
      @ЯАга-я4л 3 месяца назад +3

      In addition, you should not have a DISADVANTAGE to make a sneak attack. On some occasions you can have both of those, maybe even more then one. For example, you get advantage twice from target being stunned and you being hidden, but you get a disadvantage for being too far away. In this instance sneak attack won't work.

    • @CraigNull
      @CraigNull 3 месяца назад

      Confusing that "Advantage" both refers a status imparted by certain conditions as well as a modification to the procedure for obtaining a die roll. Extra confusing that the Advantage-as-status can coexist with other statuses that negate the Advantage-as-die-throw-modifier. Extradoubleplus confusing which specific combination of statuses and die-throwing modifiers counts as Advantage for the purposes of sneak attack

    • @SleepySir
      @SleepySir 3 месяца назад +1

      @@CraigNull For you're first point I'm confused on what you mean. They are the same thing. You get advantage from many different things, it just means you can roll 2 dice and take the highest. This applies in combat (enemy is focused on someone else), and in dialogue (you have lot's of experience in whatever subject). Certain conditions can give you advantage at things, and that advantage let's you roll twice... they are the same thing.

    I watch long let's play videos like this while I work so every second does not have to be 100% engaging. Secondly, a big part of why your videos in particular are fascinating to me is that I am loving watching you figure out the game, the interface, etc. It's not the main reason I'm watching but it's a super cool opportunity to learn some things about game design and UI design. For BG3, I'd personally like to see basically everything outside of the basic inventory shuffling that we all end up having to do at some point. And even then, some of that is fine to show imo, since what you carry with you matters much more pound for pound in a game like this. Other than that, maybe just if you revisit old places and nothing noteworthy happens.

    3 hours? Now that's a proper length for a BG3 playthrough video. Honestly, it is kind of matching normal length a play session for BG3: some inventory management, some thinking about class/multiclassing progression, builds, exploration, dialogue and... 2-3 hours done. The game is very deliberately slow. I strongly doubt anyone who has really played the game minds how YOU play the game, because this is the game to be played how you usually play games (if it makes any sense, lol). No one who played BG3 minds reading all the contextual books, notes, plaques, journals and so on. People literally spent 150-200h on their first playthrough, so this is the crowd who absolutely matches the play style.
    So refreshing to see a player actually reading all the stuff and keywords. You'll get it faster and better than most of the new players because of it. This is absolutely the way.
    1:05:28 Tutorial by gameplay ;)
    2:22:00 Answering actual question. Personally, since the game is just running around/looting/exploring/and so on, it is all good. It is a huge part of the game, especially exploration.
    If you fail on the trap and blow up and party dies because of your looting habits - let's see it.
    I would say mundane inventory management and adding to wares isn't that interesting, just when you clean up space, you know.
    But otherwise, even your decision-making for equipment for the party is interesting.
    Tim Downie for Gale. It is his first role in any game. Most of them are British theatre actors, some have experience with TV shows and movies, and only some with other games.
    Since most of cinematic and storytelling is in Larian's dedicated studios in Dublin Ireland, and also in Guilford England most of the actors are from GB.

    After I realized how abundant camp supplies are and that there are very rarely any time sensitive segments, I started long resting in this game after almost every single encounter. That's probably going a little overboard, but you'd be surprised at how often you get new camp cutscenes during some parts of the game. Sometimes it is even worth long resting multiple times in a row (i think you can do partial rests to advance scenes without using supplies as well) because camp cutscenes can get 'queued' iirc.

    • @tarukaja8
      @tarukaja8 3 месяца назад

      Doesn't time pass while you long rest ? I read there was a risk the druids would start their ritual if I long rested too much so I am avoiding that, but if you can long rest that often, then ...

    • @insideoutghost
      @insideoutghost 3 месяца назад

      @@tarukaja8 As far as I understand, there are certain specific segments of the game where long resting can trigger changes in the world (including the grove being locked down).
      I'm not sure exactly what you have to do for the grove to get locked down but I will say that it has never happened to me and I have gone through act 1 half a dozen times at this point, almost always resting about a dozen times between emerald grove and the goblin camp.
      I think the general suggestion is that if the time sensitive thing is literally staring you in the face (like a certain cave in later- i wont spoil but i did fuck that one up by resting at the wrong time my first time through), DONT REST, but if you are just exploring the world you can rest as often as possible, even if there is supposedly something time sensitive happening in the story.
      Hopefully this is helpful. As I said I rest after almost every significant fight usually and i dont have any issues with time sensitive quests.

If something is happening in a video of this length that’s not interesting me, I’ll let it run and do something else. If you want less blurb for the people with lower attentions spans, a separate group/additional channel with a more streamlined cuts and edits and see which one for a particular series is showing growth and response.
    I’m new to your channel but it’s your personality and character that’s making me enjoy a fresh perspective to a game I’ve already poured 1000+ hours into and that’s what makes your videos enjoyable, so never lose that as I’ve only found 3 channels on this game where I enjoy the content! It's an absolutely massive world with almost countless possibilities and I am adoring it, but it's very long and there's a lot to learn, so don't worry if it takes a while to understand and get into the swing of things. I don't mind whatever you leave in, but also wouldn't be disappointed if you cut down on inventory management just because I've spent a lot of time doing that myself too, so it isn't the most exciting, lol.

    I am a loot and lore goblin myself. It is refreshing to watch someone who likes to do that too have a first time experience, without being a DND player beforehand.
    Tip from a fellow bioware fan;
    Something to be mindful of, when choosing what to say, is that you don't get to ask questions seperately first before making a response. Both Mass Effect and Dragon Age lets you investigate on the left side, and finalize dialogue on the right. Here the conversation is set to branch as naturally as Larian could make, so you might insult someone with a question or you might not get the villian to monologue about how he planned to kill you.
    Always choose what you want to say the most first.
    Also; you can save almost ALWAYS, so like mid-combat, mid-conversation, etc. Although you play a true DND experience (I love it), you might get curious or make an error.

    and throwing health potions!! the % chance you see when throwing at them is the chance at doing damage by hitting them with it, not the chance of healing them, so you actually do want to throw at the target but "miss" the damage hit - your target will still heal - so when you see miss pop up with throwing potions, dw about it

      yeah...guys (gals, people in general lol, community folks)
      sneak attack, mechanically, in this game is a reaction, which could be toggled on/off in the reactions tab
      Sneak Attack as a skill that rogues get is basically a made up skill that is a combination of normal attack and auto-applied sneak attack (you can still apply sneak attack on normal attack manually, as a reaction, if you toggle it to Ask on the reactions tab)
      first and foremost condition for it is being within normal weapon range for the weapon used for sneak attack
      then the conditions are: advantage on the target (however you get doesn't matter, and hiding is one of the options, but not the only one option) OR target threatened by an ally in melee (which is important to note, since it is strictly not a situation with advantage, including the fact that you wouldn't roll 2 dice for an attack, but one since you don't have advantage even tho you can sneak attack)

    I think it showing percentage chance of hitting when you throw the potions doesn't matter, as long as you are targeting the person with the throw, it will hit, smash and heal them for some amount (the splash is also an aoe so it will heal multiple people if they're close sometimes, that saved me in some seriously tough situations).
    You handled the fight in the crypt very well imo, jumping in feet first as it were. I shot down the big rock but did it with one of my characters standing a bit too close, that rock also has an aoe unfortunately, so I started the fight with someone at half health and everyone else had to hurriedly jump down to back them up.

    2:21:30 To answer this, you're going to spend tens of hours in this game looting. You are going to come across thousands of things to loot in this game, so I would cut out long stretches of looting or messing with inventory if you want to shorten the playthrough by a couple of videos. Most vases usually don't contain anything good, maybe a coin or two and most generic enemies contain basic weapons or garbage armor that isn't worth much by themselves.
