What did you think of my terrarium build? Aren’t Oophaga pumilio amazing 🐸?! Thanks so much for watching everyone! Don't forget to answer todays QUESTION OF THE DAY! As always, a sincere thanks to my patrons over on Patreon for making videos like this possible www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus !
Looks Wonderful🐸
We want blue dot frog and scorpion
Its outstanding you are an artist.
My daughter and I absolutely loved this video and learned a bit about how to do some planting. As for the question of the day we would love either some strawberry blue jean or some azuras dart frogs.
@@oskarkiilerich66 thank you so much! 😊🙏🏼
I love that you had a planting blooper and you took advice, made the change, and talked about that process openly! I think many people have been there (myself, included) and few people talk about it. Mistakes are how we learn! More content creators should share out mistakes and the lessons they've learned from them! :)
Thank you Jen! Sometimes it might seem embarrassing for me but I try my best to share my experience as a fellow hobbyist honestly, and openly. Part of that is also showing how nice if can be when we support one another and lift each other up ex. Mike and Troy cautioning/recommending I mount the brom instead of plant it.
@@Reptiliatus Fwiw, I've killed my share of broms before I learned more about their epiphytic growing needs. It happens to us all. ;)
@@Reptiliatus This alone is what made me not only like this video but also subscribe. Stay humble and always be open to learning new things! Very nice of you to shout out to your community for their support as well, we need more of this in our society!
@@aaronkirack777 thanks so much for your support! Will do! 🙏🏼
I’m telling you right now you are one of the best RUclipsrs I have watched. You have such a positive attitude and I love the way your engage with your animals. I recently became a subscriber and I’m glad I did
This is why I became a patron at 2 dollars a month, I may go up to 5 when I have more money. So many u tubers entry level is 5 dollars.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m incredibly flattered 🙏🏼! I’ll continue to do my very best to uphold the standard you appreciate!
@@camiking4602 thank you so much Cami! 🙏🏼
U should check out a Korean channel who also do vivariums, terrariums, and paludariums who are called Natural Pot and Ferret Wonderland.
I’m so glad that you took the time to show detail on the Bromeliad, I’m getting ready to plant and had many questions about them and you answered them! Thank you!
late to the party but as a beginner scouring for useful vivarium builds, this is just awesome!! super clear useful info with enthusiasm and a beautiful result, thanks so much for this video!!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
I love the complexity of your enclosures and how much you think about those little details to make your animals as confortable and estimulated as possible, as well as providing them with a rich environment that mimics their natural habitats.
Also, the way you explain things is incredibly helpful to everyone else who wants to create their own beautiful and functional enclosures.
Be proud, you're an awesome carer for these little creatures! ❤
I have a feeling if I ever got frogs, my cats would try to eat them. While I would never allow that to happen can’t take any chances. We have enough frogs outside. Our sunroom is enclosed with big windows. The frogs love hanging out on the windows and the cats watch them. However, there is one lizard that loves to hang out around the windows and taunt that cats. There was one point last year where the lizard came every single day and it seemed like it was just as interested in the cats as the cats were of it. Strawberry Darts are one of my favorites. I love the vibrant red.
Gorgeous!!!! I plan to make mine this days, thank you for all tips, and also your friends, they are all right about bromelia
You've inspired me when getting a crocodile skink (the pair I have just had a baby and another one is on the way!) and now I am just loving how you're so in detail with these dart frogs. I am considering getting a pair very soon!
looks great, i notice you have a bit of silicone visible around the edges of the background though. i find that if you just press sand or crushed lava rock into it while it’s still wet it makes it look like a more natural part of the background, and you can always cover the old silicone with a bit more silicone and then add some sand or crushed rock. silicone doesn’t bond to old silicone very well but it would bond well enough to hold up long term in this application
A quick shortcut to spreading live moss is to combine the Java moss and sphagnum moss in a blender then just sprinkle the paste or spread on rocks and wood. Anyways love your build and can’t wait to see how it’s grown in.
That's a great idea! Thank you for the tip!
Dayan! Get you that sweet Exo Terra sponsorship! Go you, that’s really awesome. (And it’s a STUNNING tank. Those frogs are gorgeous, too.)
Haha thank you so much! I really appreciate the work I get to do with Exo Terra!
Hi Dayyan, You Sir did an exceptional job on the frog vivarium. I especially love the background. It somehow reminds me of an unwrapped wasp nest. It's so unique. It really looks like you bought it. That's how great it is! Those froggies will be the happiest frogs ever!
Thank you so much 😀!
Would love to set up a Frogs & co vivarium with something similar to what you have here. I would probably add a couple Mourning Geckos with a couple dart frogs, but it would depend on how things went at first with the frogs. Definitely would add a misting system with hygrometer to help keep the moisture at the right levels.
Really dig your setups for the frogs!
Was so happy when you caught your mistake with the brom, as an epiphyte lover that made me really happy. ^^
I was too! That brom is doing really well and growing nicely! It’s rooted to the branch! 😊
Thank you for watching and leaving your comment 🐸🙏🏼!
Gosh that explains why my Brum died, I planted it into the substrate and it rotted, it was a shame to loose, but now I can buy more and plane them better. This video helped a lot!
Oh I am sorry! I'm glad the video gave you the chance to learn from the mistake! Don't fret! This is how we gain knowledge and learn!
Amazing looking frogs. These are on my list to get. I don't have the frog and co terrariums yet but will do for this kind of frog. I think a wider one is needed for my tincs and bicolour though. ITs a shame exo terra don't currently make this version in a 60cm wide. I do though use substratum and love it. I currently use the exo terra bio drain, then put the netting and some substratum on top. I have then put a mix of coco fibre. substratum, moss and charcoal on top of that and i find the plants love it and it drains well. This so far is the best combo I have tried with my tanks and i've tried other brands but so far this will be my go to for future builds. My clean up crew also seem to love and my plants grow so much better in this combo compared to others i have tried
Love watching tank builds! Thanks for filming!
To answer your question of the day: I would fill the tank with a trio of eurydactylodes vieillardi. Absolutely love them. As for the soil, bio active ground layer with jewel orchids pepperomia, assorted climbing vines and pothos.
What a beautiful enclosure. I am working on a frog enclosure but it's for Milk frogs. I want a pair so badly. I have an enclosure but I have been trying to figure out the design. I have been researching plants that are native to their natural habitat to make it as naturalistic as possible. I definitely going to splurge on the exo terra substrate after watching this. 😊
This vivarium looks amazing but I can imagine that it'll look even more amazing once those plants grow.
Thank you! I’m certainly hoping! We shall see! 😊
I loved the milkshakes and the unique PAC man frogs.
Doing one setup with the bromelids Brookina and Catopsis Will be great... they are protocarnivores and a great addition to any collection
They are adorable!! Any babies yet?? Also, can you please do a video on creating springtails?
I currently use Fluval Stratum, which looks very similar to this stuff, to grow plants I acquire for other places so that when it comes time to transplant them to my enclosures, I can do so without much worry off hitch-hikers outside of the isopods and springtails I've added myself. I tend to mix it with coir to provide a nice growing medium that contains some nutrients. Add in a bit of rice husk and biochar(which can be obtain from charring the rice husks if you don't mind a bit of smoking) and it has been doing well for everything but my succulents which have their own blend. Great build and that was a very different looking background and I applaud you for sticking with expanding foam. I can't stand the stuff, personally, after waiting 3-4x the recommended cure times and still slicing into an ooey-gooey mess.
Sponsored by Exoterra is the dream!
I love how it looks
Thank you! 🐸🌿
Agh! I'm so excited for this video!
Thank you! Hope you love it!
I have been looking for that exact tank. The stores can't seem to keep them in stock around here. I was wanting to do this exact match. This tank with some dart frogs. Not sure which ones though. They are all so beautiful! I am partial to blue. Great setup sir!
Awww, I helped Mike build his first tank probably 12 or 13 years ago. Glad he's doing so well! Your frogs are adorable, nice build :)
Haha no way! That’s too cool! Thank you!
Hey I just recently heard of the "Sparkle Muffin," Australian jumping spider. They are soooo beautiful and cool. They seem to be pretty friendly like our usual jumpers.
Well since watching your video, I decided to upgrade my frog rack and purchased 3 Frog and Co. vivariums . I just need to figure out how to utilize my mistking in the new setup
Congrats! I love most kings but I gotta say, the frogs and co terrariums are super well integrated with the monsoon system! Really clean setup. I’ve had 3 running over a year, zero issues! Just plug and play really
Great vivarium build! And such beautiful frogs.. Can’t wait to get myself some dart frogs in the future! I genuinely love Exo-Terra Substratum, I’ve noticed a significant difference in the growth of my vivarium plants when I mix it in the substrate. Can’t wait to see this vivarium when the plants grow in! 🌱🐸
Thank you Kayla! Yes, you def should get some, you'll love them! Substratum is solid! A great soil additive for sure! Thank you for watching! :)
I want to make one for a pair of poison dart frogs just like you have just showed us.I want to thank your know how. Thanks again.
I Think you should add more plants under those large bromeliad to hide those branches.Plant or Stone can do a little change.
Thank you for your suggestions!
I have been wanting to add some frogs to my small collection! I think they are absolutely lovely, and so much fun to watch!
You should! They are amazing animals!
I bet that substratum would grow orchids beautifully! I want to get some and try it out. It would definitely need to be in a mix!
とても良い!レイアウトの仕方や植物の配置の仕方がセンスあるね!
As usual, your vivarium is stunning, you may end up giving Serpa Designs a run for the money!
If I could acquire space, shelving and the containers...I'd try the tiny, colorful frogs, and some Vampire Crabs!!! There are many varieties and most are nearly as colorful as your frogs!!!
Stunning build!!! Thank you so much for sharing and being an inspiration to tackle my background builds I've been putting off 😊
Hey i have 3 oophaga pumilio Cristóbal, i love this frogs, congratulation!
Ooo those are incredible frogs! Congrats and thank you for sharing!
Great video! Love your videos. Glad you left in your potential mistake with the vriesea. There is so much to know and figure out! Perfect timing as I just planted a few days ago (same tank) and my episea cupreata is looking very wilty. Looks like yours will get plenty of light. I had mine in a darker corner, only used one light, and didn’t close off that extra ventilation - commence troubleshooting haha. Cheers!
Finally- was waiting for this!
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the video!
to answer your question- the very first reptile I ever got was a baby yellow rat snake from a repticon in Tampa and I only paid two dollars for him and I was only like 11 maybe or around there. he was little and I couldn't get him to eat no matter what I tried and I tried everything I could think of- pinkies(mouse and rats) meal worms crickets hornworms super worms I mean I tried everything I could think of but I never got him to eat and he passed away. I was devastated. luckily after that I got an amelanistic corn snake we named slither and he was already eating frozen thawed mice when I got him and I had him for another 15 years
Awesome video!! I really Digg the build and the definitely the music!!-If I was to my hands on an Exo Terra Frogs and Co. terrarium and really good substrate and decor, etc. I would most likely build a Golden or Crested Gecko,or even Whites tree frog or Gray tree frog vivarium.
QOD: i would (or probably will) use the frog terrarium for dendrobates tinctorius "sipaliwini green". these are by far my favorite dart frogs. followed by excidobates mysteriosus.
and i'm thinking about to use some substratum for my daygecko enclosure because my plants struggle a bit. but first i try to use different water. the water where i live now i a LOT harder than the water before und i never had any issues with my plants before
Awesome dart frogs! Love the enclosure! Keep up the awesome content!
Thank you so much! 🐸
That background came out really well, great job with it and the whole terrarium
Thank you so much!
Sadly in australia we can't get any exotic reptiles or amphibians, so it's natives only. Personally I would love to keep some crusifix forgs or some southern brown tree frogs.
This is so beautiful! I can see its growth potential.
Thank you so much!
I have been doing a bunch of research and I have decided that I want oophaga pumilio -blue jeans. I am going to a reptile expo in two months and I hope to find a nice selection there. I have been growing some plants. I have a tank, but I want to get a better terrarium.
Great Video! Love the bromeliads!
Thank you so much! Me too!
Amazing build Dayyan!!! Such beautiful frogs too :) 🐸 That large Bromeliad is gorgeous!!
Thank you so much! 😊🙏🏼
Okay this was absolutely beautiful seriously it looked amazing .....
That tank looks absolutely amazing Reptiliatus! I love how bioactive terrariums look and I've tried to make my own a few times. For the questionnof the day I'd probably have some dart frogs or some kind of arboreal frogs in that terrarium. Keep doing this kind of videos cause I want to keep learning about bioactive stuff. Greetings from Mexico.
Looks stunning. If I had the stuff I would love to setup a beginner dart frog.
Thank you so much! That’s a great idea! They’ll do great!
Love your frogs so outstanding beautiful thanks for information teaching your are one of my favorite RUclipsrs.
Thank you kindly Craig! 😊
I would love to see an update on the frogs and the terrarium in a few months! Did the moss grow on the walls? Did the breed? How did the bromeliads do?
One of my favorite dart frogs! Great build!
Thanks so much! Becoming the same for me very quickly! 🐸✨
Can someone agree with me, this enclosure is a g o d a m n masterpiece!
Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼
What an amazing video, I learned some great tips from you. I am also from Canada, could you please tell me where you got your blue jeans from as I have been looking for some for a while now. :)
Thank you! I got mine through a company called port credit pets a few years aho$
@@Reptiliatus Thanks buddy! Do you have any tips on retaining their red colours? I am asking because you have the bluest tokay in the world so you must be doing it right lol!
Wow U did an amazing job can't wait to see it grown with the plants I love those frogs too gotta get me some of those!! Thanx for sharing
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it!
Such a gorgeous vivarium!! And those dart frogs are adorable 😍
Thank you so much!
The tank looks amazing! Oophaga pumilio is such a beautiful species! I've been obsessed with their pictures on Instagram recently. I just got my first dart frog (a dendrobates tinctorius azureus) about two months ago. It is a tiny froglet, but seems to be growing well and enjoying it's enclosure. It has a 18x18x24 fully bioactive tank that I've had setup for 6 months now. Every plant I put in there just takes off and it is so much fun to work with! I'm going to be doing the back ground for another 18x18x24 that is going to be for one of my baby crated geckos that I am growing out. I'm going to try to use drylock this time and was wondering if you could color it with non toxic acrylic paint. I've seen people use acrylic paint for highlights, but never to color the dry lock its self.
Great species, great callers, active and breeding is somewhat simple with right setting. I own 5 myself :)
Love dart frogs only have a crested gecko atm but will have a zoo when I move out ahah
They are really special! It’s really nice owning diurnal frogs! Cresties are great!
How do you like the substratus as stand alone substrate for your dart frogs? Do you still need springtails & isopods? Awesome build btw!
Beautiful enclosure and beautiful frogs
Thank you so much!
That's awesome, they're so cute! I want to make a bioactive terrarium, but I have no idea what I'd put in there, so I haven't made it yet lol. I have all the supplies I need, just have no clue what animal.
Hey, Dayyan, you're again by Adam's channel!!! A bit more and you can claim his channel for you, ahahahah!!!
Haha Adam is a great friend of mine! I’m happy he could use some of my footage to educate his audience! 😊
Very detailed build and very nice frogs. I am sure they will like it. Can we reproduce them in other types of little ponds other than plants?
Thank you so much! Yes, you can actually get them to use old black camera film canisters!
It's so good when great u tubers succeed.
Thank you for your show of support 😊🙏🏼
Gorgeous animals, gorgeous enclosure! I hope they thrive and make many tadpoles 8D
Thank you so much! Hopefully!
I was going to say the same thing about that bromeliad lol, looks good, I have a exo 18x18x36 that's been growing in for a month hoping to put some R. Benedicta in there soon.
Haha thanks for your support! Very nice! That should be awesome! 😊
The terrarium is amazing the plants is so cool!!
Thank you so much!
Cool video
Thank you!
This looks really good 👍
Thank you so much!
I'd like an update on how it looks after a few months!
can u do A CARE video on dart frogs pls ! I need good info
I love the pattern you carved on the foam! What did you use to get it to look like that? Mine never comes out looking that good! 🤣
Thank you! The whole process is explained in the linked tutorial video on making that background 😊
How lucky am I, that I've somehow stumbled upon your informative and interesting channel? 😉
Thank you so much for sharing your sincere love and knowledge towards these beautiful animals! 😊
I love how simple, and beautiful it is. I wanna try to get my hand in another 18x18x24 to create another bioactive . Preferably anime inspire or the serpent mountain in Asia.
Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows in!
I'm curious, how come you did not add charcoal in your ABG mix? I recently built a 12x12x15 inch Zilla enclosure, I'm planning to use ABG mix and pretty duplicate your set up....... Bromeliads, Silver nerve plant, Micro Ficus, Some type of fern plant.... moss ass well. As always, thanks for your inspiring videos, and gave me more ideas what type of plants to add. Cheers man!!!
i really want a green and gold bell frog bc im nz we dont have much frogs that u can keep as a pet
Do you have tips on different substances for crested geckos? As of right now, I have a substance that’s basically consists of bark, with a moss layer on top but I find that some of my plants don’t grow as good in that soil compared to my other crested gecko terrarium, where I have more of a earthy soil. Could you please guide me in this? I really respect your descisions.
Do those plants not want to be planted right in the soil? Should I plant them on the wood or in the foam walls?
Hey I love the video's Homie very kosher hey drop a few cannabis seeds in there, I grow outdoors and I always have cute lil frogs hanging around my plants and sometimes even hide in the plant on the leafs. So I bet your lil froggie's will love them. I got pics if u wanna c. Keep up the videos ☝👌
new sub awesome video and great personality
I know this is an old video but where did you get your strawberry pumilios. Have looked on morphmarket and on joshsfrogs neither have them
Is it possible to use this mix of substrate for a crocodile skink? Would they feel good?
Now we need an update 😊
Currently building a second dart frog enclosure for some tincs. I struggled to find plants for my first pair, other than at expos. Do you know any good sites to buy some from?
Hi I'm new to dart frogs
Im about to do my first enclosure build and I've watched a lot of build videos
I would like to use slate as part of the back of my enclosure?
I have not seen anyone use it so just wanted to make sure it's OK to use and if I should do anything to it before or when I put it in ??
Any advice would be fantastic thanks
What that green lizard on the couch at 17:03 just being curious I'm new here
Loved this build. Good timing too as I have a vivarium that I need to completely redo since it turned into kind of ass. The substrate isn’t as good with air pockets as I thought it was. Should I add sphagnum moss for more drainage? Maybe some LECA?
Horticultural grade charcoal or coarse orchid bark is best. Sphagnum moss doesn't increase drainage.
@@frogdaddytv6934 I ended up using extra charcoal, some LECA, and moss. Shoulda waited for this comment ^^;
New follower, setting up a 125 gal paludrium.. 4inches of water under some platforms, with a rain fall feature.. would that be ok for dart frogs?
Hey, I have 2 dendrobates tinctorius tumucumaque frogs. They get a new big paludarium. Can I use the substrate from this video? In the new paludarium I want 3 extra frogs because it's a really big paludarium.
How do you grow aquatic moss on land? I had some Taiwan moss clippings that I was keeping in a water dish full of water under a plant light and it died back. Can it grow under 60-70% humidity outside of water?
Awesome great reptiles room
Thank you!
Dion, great video as always, how much is a set-up like this to create $
Thank you so much! Realistically, all in with the frogs, you might be looking at around 5-600 dollars or so I think.
So you telling me that's a frog and not Spiderman hiding as a frog?
😂👌🏼
