- In this strange Western, Johnny Depp plays a man called William Blake. When he introduces himself to Nobody, a well-read Native American (Gary Farmer), the latter reveals him that he is named like the British poet, reciting some of his verses:
Every night and every morn
Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.
Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.
(Auguries of Innocence)
Saw this movie recently for my film class and I can't stop thinking about it. Seriously great.

Same for me ... This movie is haunting my mind, all the quotes and scenes are playing in my head for weeks, only saw it one time and I don't want to see it again yet !
Probably one of the 5 most important film I will see in my life.
this movie added to my overall understanding of human culture, is that not what a good film should ultimately do? culture
I dunno. I still think the latest Barbie film coupled with two day old Subway whilst wishing for the Netflix feature is waaaay better than this..
@@guillaumesandmayer7053I haven’t seen the Barbie movie yet (probably never will) but I’m still pretty sure you’re wrong.
An unsung masterpiece of a movie. To say nothing of the poem (which in its entirety is a good deal longer than the lines quoted).
The Doors "End Of Night"

I LOVE Jim Jarmusch...
"Auguries of Innocence" awesome poem
some are born for sweet delight... Victoria Beckham.

I found it on DVD in the $5 bin at Wal Mart some years ago... It was a double feature disc. Dead Man and Texas Rangers lol
I guess I need to watch this movie somebody just posted this clip and I had to watch very interesting
neil young got it so right
I remember the poem from Agatha Criesties Endless Night novel and though I've watch the movie few times before, I cant remember having connected those two even I certainly new Blake's poem much before this movie was made... I was about to say by Wim Wenders, but checked it and it's Jim Jarmush in fact. Great poem or vers however, very hard to find on net so that's a big *Thank You John* ;) ruclips.net/video/9ujsaZbHkJg/видео.html
more exactly, Nobody assumes William Blake to be THE William Blake.....
This movie is free on HBO Max.
William Blake and Jim Morrison both had native American blood.
Ah so Morrison stole this
Morrison's whole gig was Blake.
XD
