Both dances were fantastic. It's probably very minor mistakes that made them lose. The ensemble team was filled with exceptional technical dancers, they were hard to beat.
i absolutely agree but i saw not MAJOR but not minor mistakes in first ladies like ava doing a different roll than everyone else or some one missing moves

Maddie's dancing is WAY too intense for this music. The song is slow and calm but she attacks every movement - watch her next to jade, it's almost comedic

This is great mostly because of jade. She carried the dance. There where a lot of spacing/timing issue. Now I understand why First Lady won. They were all at the same level (But tea who made more mistakes).
They got more interesting choreography and performed better than the ensemble, but they did not dance better. They had spacing issues and their timing was off, and their (with the exception of Jade) technique isn't as strong. I still really like the number. It would have been cool to see it reversed, the ensemble doing this number and them doing the ensemble's.

keep in mind here, maddie was 11/12 and jade was 15. when you're 15 and have way more experience and different training, you have more control over your body

Abby never corrected her plus never choreographed solos to have a pause moment (which many well known dancers have had in theirs by Maddie’s age). Jade and even Chloe don’t rush through their dances, whereas Maddie looks like she is for every dance she has. Yes she’s a performer and has great technique but rushing through makes the dance look much worse than taking the time to finish the moves

I think Jade's timing here was perfect, she had slower movements which fit better to the sombre mood that maddie's quick sharpness.
