- On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Santa Monica Closeup documented ongoing recovery efforts in Pacific Palisades following the devastating Palisades Fire. Relief organizations and government agencies were actively working to aid residents and restore normalcy.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continued hazardous material cleanup. The EPA Lithium Battery Response Task Force removed lithium batteries from fire-damaged electric vehicles, while the Household Hazardous Materials (HHM) Task Force handled hazardous waste disposal.
Multiple humanitarian groups also provided assistance. The Good Samaritan organization distributed emergency protective gear, while World Central Kitchen (WCK) served free meals to construction workers, first responders, and volunteers. The American Red Cross supplied emergency essentials to displaced residents.
Faith-based organizations played a key role in relief efforts. The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) offered prayers and emotional support, while the Church of Scientology’s Volunteer Ministers helped homeowners search for belongings in the fire debris. Solid Rock House of God, newly arrived from Texas, set up a relief station serving meals and offering prayers.
Following the Southern California wildfires, President Biden declared a federal disaster on January 8, unlocking federal aid. FEMA assigned the EPA to oversee hazardous material removal, and on January 24, President Trump issued an Executive Order expediting cleanup efforts. This federally funded cleanup, known as Phase 1, is free to residents.
EPA crews continue disposing of hazardous materials, including chemicals, batteries, and propane tanks, transporting them to licensed facilities. Lithium-ion and high-voltage batteries from electric and hybrid vehicles are also being removed. Once a site is cleared, the EPA marks it as completed, allowing rebuilding efforts to move forward.
The Palisades Fire ignited on January 7, 2025, spreading rapidly due to Santa Ana winds and drought conditions. It burned over 23,000 acres, destroyed more than 12,000 structures, and displaced 150,000 residents across Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and the San Fernando Valley. The fire claimed at least five lives and caused significant destruction. Strong winds hindered containment efforts, allowing flames to spread unchecked.
Though recent rainfall helped extinguish the fire, it also raised concerns about mudslides and debris flow. With evacuation orders lifted on January 27, recovery efforts have shifted to debris removal, utility restoration, and hazardous material disposal. Relief organizations, faith-based groups, and government agencies continue to play a critical role in ensuring a safe and effective rebuilding process for the affected communities.

Once again, a nice video by Fabian at 955 Galloway St., of the Patriot EPA contractors backhoe operator, trying to grasp an EV and flip it over to gain access to the battery for dissection and depositing the waste into 55-gallon barrels with 5 and 6 members in blue protective gear standing and watching the numerous and hapless attempts of the backhoe operator.
This procedure of removing EV waste in the driveways of the burned-out residences is a true picture of government inefficiency. It is beyond reasoning that these vehicles are not effectively forklifted on to trucks and transported to remote locations where those preforming this hazardous waste removal can be accomplished much more safely!
There are still hundreds of vehicles along PCH interfering with the removal and replacement of burned telephone poles and cables causing a great hazard to the Power and Cable Co. technicians' efforts to restore power and communications. There are so many great people trying to accomplish these task that appear to be greatly hampered by those that just don't get it...
Those pesky questions really annoy socialists and dew killers...
When I watch these, my wife says, "Why do you always shake your heard?" I told her it will be five years until they are finished. If they had been tasked to build the pyramids in Egypt, they would still be working on them.
Believe the 500+ electric battery charging stations & vehicle batteries made this fire storms exponentially worse.
It's govt. work...ineffientcy is the name of the game.
Couldn’t all those men watching flip the car on its side and then top to get the battery out?
Legend has it those two guys are still sitting on the steps.
God Bless the people that come to help and feed. There are some really great things that happen in disasters after all.
Like suffering, mockingbird
These videos are excellent. Thanks for your work.
REBUILDING in the worst fire zone in the country, where NO INSURANCE is possible?
Thank you for your update, interesting but heartbreaking video
Glad to see you are still giving us videos of the recovery of the burned areas. Very interesting to see how it is going for everyone there
kinda wierd, just driving on a street, catastrophe , some dialogue would be appropriate.
This is the route I took home from work from Santa Monica on my bike. Absolutely crazy to see this now.
So many people just sitting or standing around. Very few actually working- sad.
It’s like an apocalypse movie- except it’s all real.
Newscum doesn’t really want it cleaned up in order for people to rebuild. He wants to build stack ‘em and pack ‘em apartment complexes. The slower the better so people get fed up and leave.
Akkor menj dolgozni.
Try adding something positive not negative!! Maybe you should go there to help!!
They all look exhausted or bored.
Man, you get some of the strangest looks from the people
I know the feeling. When you know that life has a greater purpose, a lot of people are afraid of you. The amusement park/life is a beach mentality, is deeply ingrained in the psyche of most people. 🤨
At the 37:15 mark 7 workers standing around
watching one backhoe operator work, maybe they take turns ever 10 minutes. Thats alot of batters on deck.
What a hell of a mess!
It's going to be a long time to get this project finished!
WOW!
It's a,murder scene, my guy
@philyeary8809 murdered by Newscum and the mayor of LA,
They can't get away with this
Question? What are they deeming as hazardous as they dig around in someone’s property? It looked like the guy was about to take someone’s burnt up computer away. As the owner i wouldn’t authorize anyone taking my computers away. I want to save what i can from it, like hard drive and then dispose myself not let the government basically steal my property for disposal. I understand propane and my car battery. In case of the car i would at least ask they are taking photos of the car before they wreck it more so i can give to my car insurance company.
all questions i am thinking about. The EPA ( california) is declairing this a defacto superfund site. Limiting your rights. It is very telling and teaches us all a lesson. Nowadays with solar a house can be off grid. The grid is at least a culprit in many of the fires in California. Maybe a move to make each house autonomous would be wise. These are the richest people in the country I know i used to live in an around here. Even they are being walked over.
Too many people just standing around doing nothing
always were
Most people are only reading a script: e.g. [Simon Says by Fruitgum Company with Lyrics (HQ)].
Col. Klink: "General, I really enjoyed your speech"
General Burkhalter: "you would"!
[Hogan's Heroes].
Maybe you should go and show them how it’s done
@@seanrichardson266 And then the smartass dough boy shows up ....
They stand around and wait for the next meal
If agencies / contractors were seen to do something that ignores safety laws and regulations, people would have them in court seeking a restraining order. Hazmat removal is the toughest portion of the process.
Like the process church?;)
Seems like the trees & shrubs survived the fire-natos better than the mop up operations.
If they have to perform hazmat on every house lot, it will be a long long time before people can rebuild.
Had only more firefighters been prepositioned knowing a PDS had been issued. Had only the reservoir been repaired and put back into service in a timely and reasonable timeframe. Had only all water booster pumps been available and on. Had only the hillside floor vegetation been cleared and managed with controlled burns. Had only the mindset and focus been on public safety instead of identity politics and not controlled burn carbon emissions.
ok moron
Such a horrible loss unreal 😢
I Love it 🤩🤩
The authority is totally overwhelmed and exaggerates enormously
Thanks for the update Man
Your videos have really shown the true extent of the devastation. Thank you for your continued documentation of the ongoing attempts to clear the chaos and, hopefully, rebuild.
Let’s see if this one has a muffler? It’s like a guessing game with these epa clean up folks.
Food trucks! Civilization has returned to Pacific Palisades at least.
Good video, Fabian! Thank you once again for providing the videos to this disaster rebuild effort.
The disaster and relief people from Texas serving the community in Palisades California was very inspiring! God bless them all
“Workers” take their cue from CALTRANS.
Danke!
Thank you!
Lot of "supervision" standing around with their hands in their pockets. If it's so toxic, why people in shorts walking by guys wearing hazmat suits next to women holding chipboard wearing jeans vest?
Asking the right questions, you can see. Stat sharp.
I bet everyone there has the option to wear the protective gear if they choose. That way they can’t sue if they get sick years from now.
It's good to see people getting to work!
So, the real recovery is….FOOD TRUCKS.
Scientology for all your cult needs in these trying times...
Right? Unbelievable!
You are really doing a great job of showing us the street and all the men working😮😮😮😮
Hazmat crews need to be commended!!❤
Blue sky, birds singing, heartbreaking ❤️🩹
Thanks Fabian! I look forward to watching your videos every night! ❤❤
Keep It going bud. Wishing those folks speedy recovery.
We must recall Newsome.
OMG!! Our tax dollars at work! Hazmat slows things down too. Lahaina is a good example for how long recovery takes.
When there was vulkan activity on the canary island the owner cleaned the properties, throw things away, brushed and rebuilt. There was no hazard. What is wrong here?
It's called a coup.
WONDERFUL JOB Fabian!!!
I don't completely understand the perceived hazardous waste risk in this situation though. Asbestos maybe, but not for burned wood and some plastic. Only in California for that I do think.
Many years later ...and it still will never be the same.
Why are they sawing holes in the street?
To bury evidence.
It may not look like much is being done but it actually is. Lots of angels at work.
Way more should be getting done. There is little to no sense of urgency going on here. Standing around and BSing doesn’t move this forward.
@seemonroes I'd much rather see the work done well than hastily. Doing a large complex job the right way does not happen overnight or without good teamwork and prudent leadership.
@@BrettMorrow-f6e "Teamwork" doesn't mean seven people standing around watching one person work.
@@ifmbm332b They're not just standing around they all have a job to perform to. Teamwork is not mindless uncontrolled physical actions and movements. It is a controlled directed series of physical and mental actions that are performed to accomplish specific tasks, goals and objectives within determined time frames in a safe, cost effective manner. Think of an orchestra, not every musician plays constantly, he or she will come in at the right place and at the right time in the piece being performed under the baton of the conductor.
Fabian I see you had to be cleared to go into these areas; it’s good to see properties are being protected!!❤
Good luck Anthony 🤞
And Newsom is Hightailing it Out of Town!
What a leader!
He went to visit President at the Whitehouse and hopefully he is cooperating and doing what is best for the people!
@@Patricia-h8r8b😂😂😂 it's his fault the people need help... how was your smelt on toast this morning 😂😂😂
Your whole life's hard work to create your own sanctuary gone in a matter of seconds / minutes. Truly devastating.
Good job guys keep up the good work!
I look at this and i see a few people working then alot of people standing around , usually a forklift driver struggly in with a car . Presumably electric spreading dust all over the place. Its perhaps a lesson. Maybe we jumped to early with electric cars. Are they worth the squeeze? doesnt seem so as they are so toxic. i have experienced work in tyvek suits its sucks. I was a doctor in the hospital for covid19. Pacific palisads and LA have a disproportionate high amount of electric cars. Is that environment now ruined?
Speaking of those toxic cars. In particular my question to owners of these vehicles is: how do you dispose of the battery after 10 yrs when it no longer holds a charge? Then where do these batteries go?
Silence
Seeing these burnt out homes is heart wrenching!!
Voting blue 😂😂😂
26:40 The blue men group. Who first moves lost.
The cleanup is unimaginable!!😢😢😢
Its tyrannical for them to shut down an entire section of LA for "safety"
what do you care you don’t live there .
@@surrealboxasshat😂
@@surrealbox Hire private security, tyrannist!
Why are they digging up the street in front of each house?
I suspect workers are cutting off electricity from the damaged area.
And where, exactly, does all this so-called hazardous waste end up?
Especially the batteries from electric cars. Whoa
It would help if you could mention the name of the street your on . All the streets look the same so it's not that informative
You passed the house with no eves that survived (but neighbors did not) today towards the end of the video. It was on your left. It was wood stained and black with sloped roof but no eaves. You were passing the truck with new wood poles.
Watched a video about this house; how it was designed to resist catching on fire.
Nice to see a lot of progress
Bass hired an "outside consultant" to turn this into a 15 minute city. Should be interesting. NO input from the residents allowed!
Where did you hear that?
@@StarGazer-nu2rx It is ALL over the news!!!!!!!
@@renardfranse No it's not. There is NOTHING about Bass and 15 min cities nor hiring consultants.
@@StarGazer-nu2rx Hey azzhole, here is the story. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has decided that fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades will be built by an “outside consultant.”
The decision was made without any consultation with local residents or any process of input from those affected.
Bass appeared in Pacific Palisades on Monday on an unannounced visit together with “chief recovery officer Steve Soboroff,” whom Bass appointed earlier this month - also without local consultation - and who had been absent.

Thanks for the excellent, ongoing, no commentary or spin coverage! Interesting question, since when does Scientology front a cross logo? If they're legitimately "helping" good, but I strongly mistrust their intent in situations like this.
This area is toxic like hell 🔥
What happens to Lithium at 1400 degrees? Is there a real scientific study to tell us?
Pee diddler is toxic...these ashes are not.
As disasters as this is , is has given the RESOURCE groups lots of work ,Gas , Hydro , EPA staff ... evan the rental company's in the surrounding area , nice to see the water front area coming together
Oh look ! Everone else has a PortaLoo on thr back of their truck. I better do the same!
You are doing such a great job. I work at one of the schools. Could you possibly go down sunset to beinveneda to las pulgas? Thx!
Greetings from Ontario Canada thanks for sharing this video you obviously have a good relationship with the military as seen when approaching the barricades do you have an ID badge for your channel or are you recognize right away cheers take care and be safe
Why are all the in-ground utility boxes covered or dug up ? Did they burn up ??.
I see a BUNCH of EPA crap going on here holding these people up from building their homes back but I DONT SEE any building taking place
Get off the computer and read a book because you don't know what the hell you're talking about. This is a process that takes time, you don't just start rebuilding right away, please educate yourself.
I have never seen so many people in a rush to take there time. How long is break time ? So sad
Catalytic Converter thieves ..... I could make a ton of money getting the CC units out of those burnt out cars.
at 18:14 ... they used a burnt out tree to hold up the powerlines
I find that the pace of work is very different in America and Europe
This is government or government-contracted workers. Private industry, is very different - nearly all these workers would be fired for wasting time. Ask anyone that works in a regular job.
I think there is a universal code that city workers have 1 working 5 watching and 1 must be leaning on a shovel😂
Keep up the good work. Any idea where all that debris will be hauled off too? Its going to take months, if not years to just clear all the wreckage and debris. I wonder how many will come back and rebuild.
I was just riding through Altadena a few days ago and I can see that the Eaton fire did more damage...
It seemed like the Eaton fire was hotel and more intense in parts.
Gracias por su actualizaciones de video diarias, saludos
Nice work of the many people clearing the hazardous material, feeding the workers, restoring the community. And being able to rebuild... one thing when rebuilding..? The trees the bushes, the plants. Do you have to have it, just saying when looking at previous videos where the embers are on a palm tree 50 feet up on fire and spewing embers all over the place. Yes forage is beautiful. Plants are nice and trees give out oxygen, but we don't need another fire and another disaster.😢❤❤❤😢
This is so heartbreaking. Was supposed to move to SoCal two years ago. Wish I did while I had the chance. I’m afraid it’ll never be the same now. And besides, how are all these homes broken down to rubble and trees not burned?
Please show street signs
Do those workers pay for their food or is it free to them for what they do ?❤😊
It's all free if they vote blue.
This is a complete joke. The amount of people just standing around is beyond ridiculous. Don’t just look at what he’s filming, look down the streets. For every 1 person working there has to be at least 3 standing around. People are in head to toe in PPE standing next people with just a hard hat. You don’t need a team of 5 to remove 2 propane tanks and batteries from remote. Give the homeowners a list of items put aside for a special pick up.
I'm so glad poor, poorCalifornians are getting all the resources and protections they need. People in western NC that still are freezing and in tents with no homes and little kids certainly don't deserve any of that because they don't even have roads and bridges to get help! Oh, and never mind they just had 20,000 acres to burn too.
Say what you will about offshoot Churches, Those people are out there frying hamburgers,, with no expectation of recompense.
Where was the US military when it was on fire?
They were dewing it.
are there Canadian crews there helping with power and telecom?
How about bring out emergency shelter containers so people dont have to sleep all over the streets Where is the tax dollar going
The heat from a fire is overwhelming! What would you do if a fire broke out near you?
Hope ya dont run into any more crazy couples. LOL
Why are they digging up the streets?
Because every valve along the main water pipe is open and leads to rubble of every burned out home. Gotta close every one.
What are you riding to get around?
Thanks, Fabian, for my daily dose of the Blue Suited 🤡 crew.🤣😂
looks like a horror movie
are they rebuilding it all?
All these cult religions?! How do they have access to village for their recruiting of their “god.”

Your 'fire proof' safe is most likely the only salvagable thing. Just gotta get it before contractor cleaning crews sweep it to the landfill.
