But you aren't likely to hear merengue (this genre) if you show up to a Day of the Dead celebration, because that's more of a Mexican thing, and they aren't that into merengue (which is originally Dominican). Not saying it would be impossible, but I wouldn't expect it. Signed, pedantic white guy. But yeah, back when I used to go to Latin dance nights, this song tended to get everyone on the floor, including people who couldn't handle (or didn't like) salsa.
Merengue is originally Dominican, indeed, but I have to say we mexicans are sooo into merengue that we dance it, enjoy it and thank our dominican brothers and sisters for this amazing rythm!
@@JONADI_B I might have gotten the wrong impression, then. And my observations are from within the US, so it might be different in Mexico. Plus, I know there are major regional differences in what's popular within Mexico, probably including many which I don't know anything about.
