I would highly recommend looking into these current artists; Neal Frances, Black Pumas, All Them Witches, tallest man on earth, Jose Gonzales, one day as a lion, Calexico and iron and wine, Molly Tuttle, red tail ring, sticky fingers, feist, Mo Lowda and the humble, Matt Costa, Damian Marley, vampire weekend, jack white, fruit bats, vetiver, and literally thousands of others. A vast majority of those I just listed have far less of a pop sound.
I’m only 30, but I’ve come to find that there are plenty of new artists that are up my alley. Respectfully, I’m willing to bet that the problem is that you don’t look very hard. I almost got stuck being closed off too. If country/folk/americana are your gig, check out Hurray For the Riff Raff, Tyler Childers, and The Mountain Goats. If you like bluegrass, Punch Brothers and Billy Strings.
I saw the Gran Turismo movie and I loved the scene of the Porsche's lap at the Nurburgring, especially for the music, Wash by Bon Iver, after that I started listening to more Bon Iver music and I ended up finding this song, getting to know Zach Bryan, and in this video there is Archie, Jann's actor in Gran Turismo. Chris Beaty was one of my best friends. He died protecting others on May 30, 2020. He was attempting to move his car and checking on others during a protest in Indianapolis. He was gunned down stopping criminals from robbing and killing those strangers. The people that killed him were recently sentenced to 100 years in prison. The world misses his light.
