  • Currently listed for a whopping $29,999,995, a 40% reduction from its original ask of $50 million, the French-inspired mansion at 1932 N Burling St. in Chicago easily claims the top spot for expensive real estate in Illinois (even out-doing Michael Jordan’s estate which is still for sale).

The price dropped to $28 million a few month later, then just recently it dropped to $23.5 million.

But was it built to last a hundred or more years? That kind of money it should last a couple of hundred years lol

Bet the owner moved to Texas or Florida.

Miami - they moved because they didn't like the crime in Chicago (which is ironic because the owner, Richard Parrillo, his father was the defense attorney of choice for crime bosses like Al Capone). They've been trying to sell this place for 8 years (it was originally $50 million - price just dropped to $23.5 million).

Why would anyone spend that kind of money just to be paying these insane taxes and deal with all of the crime in the neighborhood? Any smart person would just buy a better house in the suburbs.

Rampant crime, even in a wealthy enclave like Lincoln Park?
      Unreal.

    Former owner?

I think he meant the current owner - Richard and Michaela Parrillo (he was the CEO of some big insurance company). Fun fact - his father was Billy Parrillo, the defense attorney of choice for crime bosses, including Al Capone and Sam Giancana.
