What is Duplex Stainless Steel?

Duplex is a term for a very special group of stainless steel that is is two-phased. This means that 55% of the microstructure of the steel is ferritic while the rest is austenitic. In this way, the duplex steel can be categorised as a “crossroad” of the two most common groups of stainless steel.  In this video Claus explains more about the properties and benefits of the duplex stainless steel.
