Cloud! Now that Aerith's multiverse/hallucination self is here, I have started to notice that she's *dying* for a match of Queen's Blood. Don't worry, I have sent my own plot ghosts and my Chocobo brethren to stop Sephiroth. Come on Cloud, the protorelic is waiting. Play a match of Queen's Blood with the corpse. I mean Aerith. I mean the lifestream. I'm sorry Cloud, the signal is getting weak. Someone is interfering with the transmission. Hello? Cloud? Hello Cloud, it's me, Kid G. You might be wondering where you are now. That cut of everyone clearly upset and him just carrying on with "Yep. Sounds good." was honestly unnerving. At any other time that would have been bad direction but they legit made it sound like nothing was wrong at all. buhhuhuhuh
@AggroNoobs I know I'm in the minority but I absolutely love the ending. It shows how down right insane Cloude is now and builds up his mental break to be even more impactful in part 3. I'm sure we'll get the full enedited death and burial scene in part 3 as well (they should also use the original ost from ff7 for those scenes as well).
@@aytony4090bold of you to assume nobunga isn’t waiting to reveal a new multiverse plot in part 3 and cloud is just stuck between two dimensions where Aerith lives and dies
If anyones confused as to why Sephiroth gave Cloud the Black Materia just so he could give it back, theres an answer but its spoilers. If you dont want potential Part 3 stuff spoiled, I recommend stop reading here. Basically the Sephiroth we're seeing here isnt the real Sephiroth. Its his memories and consciousness, but not his body. He can't use the Materia right now. His body is in the Northern Crater, that's where he wants Cloud to take the Black Materia. The Sephiroth we're seeing is a mixture of the Robes/Jenova. This happened in the original too, where the Sephiroth from the Temple was actually Jenova, and the gang managed to catch her before she delivered the Black Materia to Sephiroth in the Northern Crater. There's a moment in the original where they catch up to Jenova, and it's revealed to just be Jenovas heart that's left, with Cloud retrieving the Black Materia.

4:15:56 Every other playthrough I've seen fails at this part because they waited for Sephiroth to finish his move, but Gamer Vinny went all in and beat it on his first try. I hope they never make a FF7 "remake" again. If THIS is the route they're going....and with it's understandably low sales, very likely will be the case.
I wonder if the ending is partially inspired by the glitch that let you keep Aerith in your party after her death. The way she’s still there but everyone around her acts like she’s still dead and cant see her even though she’s right there and fighting alongside them still. The characters crying for her while she casually walks around really reminded me of doing that glitch in the original game.
For the record, in the original, Aerith had animations and dialogues that could happen if trough data manipulation you kept Aerith in the party after her supposed death. The reason is that originally, she wasn't supposed to die, or at least not there. During development, there were lots of talks and discussions on who should live and die, like at some point Barret was the one meant to die and at another all the party members sans the one in your current party would die by the time you reach the last 15% of the game. So when eeventually they stuck with Aerith, they left in the game file those animations and messages that would have played in the case of Aerith sticking around.
I'm both happy and pissed off that he beat the final phase on his first try. I choked on that last dps check more times that I would like to admit lol.
Same. I was on Dynamic, though. When he blew his limit early (like he always does, every time) I was worried he wouldn't get one off in time. I think one second later and that stagger would end and he'd be stuck in a "What do you MEAN!?" loop of attempts.
Of all the ways the game could have ended, a 40-min multiversal fight against a 3-tiered, pregnant Sephiroth looking like a wedding cake topper wasn't at the top of my list.
Yeah, y'know, Sephiroth, the guy famous for being a man on top of a bigger, more pregnant version of the same man on top of an enlarged Calamity Ganon cocoon sack
@@Loop_Katyeah, he is much more famous for being a man’s torso with a halo on top of a squid body with 5 wings and a sword arm. You know, the form he takes immediately after Bizzaro one you are describing in the 1997 game.
3:44:18 Cloud and Zack have the same exact animations and similar voice likes when being hit! That’s really cool attention to detail I didn’t even notice!
Vinny was godawful with the combat for majority of this game so I was very very surprised when he locked it in during the final phase of the sephiroth fight.
I think the end being in sight brings out focus in him. Knowing there's at least another dozen hours of padded game play between another Cosmo Canyon frog fight and the credits can have you tapping the square button while scrolling your phone. The light at the end of the corridor fight and getting pulped by Odin to make meal for his bread. Biggest difference between doing tight circles grinding levels on the low polygon world map of the original and fighting, foraging, mining, crafting, collecting, and activating quick travel points and radar towers of this one is at the end of this, I don't find myself wanting more of this bit of the story. By this point in the original, I definitely wanted more. In my younger years, I wouldn't have known to specify that I didn't want more padding. By a far margin I would say the best addition to the original has been Queen's Blood, for me. Good design. It was possible to fail at and not feel like bad luck, or encountering a grind gate. Crybaby Ned's stocked up on bread meal till the comet comes. Can't say for sure what of Queen's Blood caught Vinny's focus. He probably said what it was a bunch of times.
I’m a bit worried about how they will handle Tifa fixing Cloud’s mind in the lifestream in part 3. That scene is my favorite part of the original game. They already had Cloud remember Zack and had Tifa remember Cloud trying to save her from falling off the bridge. That removes two major reveals in the lifestream scene.
Cloud remembers Zack, but it's still an incorrect memory. Right now he thinks Zack died in the bridge collapse. That's still a major revelation waiting to happen.
Remember, Cloud has to come to terms with Aerith's death, and that'll mostly likely happen in the lifestrean sequence with Cloud and Tifa. They've literally been building up that moment for huge pay off.
I got the tifa date, but didn't do enough side quests and just got an awkward hug. I think I like the red date the best. Nice lore conversation and a call back to that paw bit with cloud and aerith. Game needs a Roche date though.
Cloud gets onto the ferris wheel alone, riding it up silently and doing his best to ignore the view when suddenly Roche inexplicably busts in through the window on his 5th motorcycle. He wedges its tires against the center spin wheel and the windows as he leans into the throttle, sending the gondola into a vomit-inducing spin while he taunts Cloud with a rousing speech. Cloud manages to get his footing just long enough to give Roch a good whack, sending him crashing back out to the pavement below. Cloud is left clutching at the hand rails as he waits for the gondola to gradually slow to a stop. The camera cuts back to the entrance where a weary Cloud literally crawls out of the gondola and flops onto solid ground with a heavy sigh of relief. His respite is brief, however, as Yuffie just so happens to be passing by and can't resist mocking him for his deplorable state, to which Cloud weakly responds, "just...end me..."
Spoilers about the end game and, what I think, the whole last hours was about: If you can guess and paid attention, this game is delving into alternate timelines and realities. Clearly shown through gameplay as Zack. And it's not just one Zack but 3. One where he was waiting at the foot of the church, the one where he drives to stop Biggs from blowing up the reactor, and the third is where he drives to get a cure for Cloud. Fate seems to be trying to clean up the mess Sephiroth caused himself and with his own Whispers. Shown with Biggs being killed and two separate instances of a group of Shinra soldiers trying to gun down Zack. The weird scenes with Aerith and Cloud's "date", Aerith (and all her alternate versions) are clearly aware of her own fate, ending at the hands of Sephiroth. Sephiroth is hunting Aerith down in all of these realities, shown with Sephiroth showing up to the church to put an end to one of them. This was kind of hinted at the beginning of Remake where Aerith was running away from, I think, a group of Sephiroth's Whispers. Aerith is trying to help Cloud and stop Sephiroth any way she can. And the last scene with Cloud seeing and talking to Aerith even though she died. It's not just a "schizo" moment but, he was being split and merged into two realities. One where he did save Aerith and one he didn't. That's why he was confused (signified with him not having a limit break in the Jenova fight while the rest of the party is full) and talked to her like normal while the rest of the group are in the reality she died. This was shown during the scene with Aerith in his arms, flashing between where she was bloodied (and from what I read from another comment section of the ending, Cloud was also reciting his entire speech muted) and one she wasn't and, I think, only injured. As an added note, the reality where Aerith didn't die has the crack on the sky, similar to the realities where Zack is. That's why Cloud sees it while the group doesn't. The crack on the sky signifies, from what I guess, fracturing of the timeline and it's degradation. Realities created due to interferences by Sephiroth, his Whispers, and anyone else who happens to be affected due to his actions (Cloud, Zack, Aerith, etc). The main reality doesn't have that crack.
It's a common enough thing that you're definitely not the only one. I think even Vinny said at one point during Rebirth or Remake that, as a kid, he thought it meant Phoenix Down as in, like, a party member is "down" which isn't too wild of an assumption or misconception, especially since most of these games only ever show the item as either a small (pixel) feather icon or just a line of text with no extra context or even an animation On a related note, if you've ever heard of a down pillow (which I don't think are too common these days), it means it's filled with down feathers because they're the softest feathers. That's also why it's called Phoenix Down, its incredible softness is actually a feature of its healing properties
Lost mine 2 years ago. I couldn’t let myself focus on anything specific in that scene that would make me immediately self associate and empathize with Aerith. Tried to look at it with a pretty cynical/hostile analytical lens eg; square is being emotionally manipulative with the musical queues and Aerith’s gut wrenching monologue. That worked great right until she tears her arm away from Elmyra’s grasp to hold her Mom- I fuckin lost it. I want to tell you it gets easier. In some ways it does: I can tell you it certainly happens less frequently. It never hurts any less, you just become familiar with the pain and it doesn’t take you by surprise quite as much. It’s something you live with instead of something that dictates your life. I’m writing this for me just as much as I am for you and anyone else in this situation. It’s hard to process.
Aerith did die, but that memory was buried for Cloud, either by Aerith, to protect his mind or by Jenova/Sephiroth/Whispers to keep him on his course of delivering the Black Materia. What you see during the FMV ending cuts back and forth between Cloud's altered perspective and the real world. The rest of the party knows Aerith is dead but Cloud just thinks she's staying behind temporarily. Also Jacob's Ladder was largely a dying dream Jacob was having still deployed in Vietnam after him and his squadmates ripped each other to shreds due to the effects of the drug that was supposed to make them super soldiers I fuckin love that movie lmao
I actually forgot until the previous video that crisis core had the subtitle reunion. It feels like they were leading up to the third part being called that but that couldn't be the case now, it would be ridiculous. So while I'm not sure what the third part will be called, I have some ideas on what it COULD be, like; -Remembrance works due to the MANY things that are still to come like Lucrecia, whatever they have done to Shera, the ENTIRE storyline involving the Cetra and the Gi, Zack, Aerith, literally everyone fits this title. -Resurrection speaks for itself and doesn't necessarily need to mean what people would hope it means, but damn would it be a huge hype maker of a name. -Restitution, this one I doubt, but would kind of fit tying in a resolution for the Gi and Cetra to the end of the story. I kind of doubt it because while yeah me and you might know what it means but they're not going to go for a word that the average joe is going to have to even look up to check they know what it means. It won't stick in their head -Retribution, Resolution, Reckoning, all speak for themselves, all kind of likely for a finale and are probably the only other ones I can think of outside of Redemption which is HIGHLY unlikely to avoid even the slightest confusion with RDR. Now for what will never be the choice but I thought funny to mention; -Revision, since it's a revision of the original story, also Retold. -Renobunga, I'm sure this would be the choice for Binyot. -Renimbi, a Chinese currency -Referendum, while there are politics in the game I doubt the final part is going to revolve around voting lol. -This one is unlikely but also likely in some ways, Reflections, I thought it could possibly hint towards more of the alternate universe being a bigger part of the story (like reflections of the reality they know on either side) Anyway, enough of my rambling.
A random silly idea that popped into my head for whatever reason a couple days ago was "Remind". Suppose I'll throw that into the internet's pool of ideas, even if it's not a good guess by any means.
@@Kimairan I guess Reminder could work because it goes with the previous use of nouns, I feel like with them though they'd be more likely to go with something like Re:Memory which dear god I hope not lol.

This games soundtrack is honestly mind boggling. Feels like they have every genre then nail these huge epic moments and story stuff. Can’t wait to see the other themes next game
Spoilers (and very long comment) included I really hope that Cloud seeing Aerith has more to do with his own character rather than timeline stuff, even though given the way things are going, the latter is absolutely going to be the case. I just think it’s so much more interesting as an extension of his self-inflicted delusions. It’s that concept taken to its logical extreme: serious tragedy of loss? Just replace them with a copy to make yourself feel better, and it even serves as a foil for most of the team having to accept the loss someone in their lives. Perfect setup to tear it down in part 3. I don’t even really hold original FF7 that dear to my heart or anything; I got into it between Remake and Rebirth so I could understand the story. I’ve still yet to see the value that the lifestream timelines are adding to this new version, and it kinda sucks that it feels like my only option is waiting 3 or 4 years for the game’s ending to tie it all in.
I'm expecting it both is *and* is not a fake-out. There is/are Aeriths on other worldlines out there who haven't/didn't die in the City and/or live on in the Lifestream unanchored from any particular world, so Cloud did drift and bump into 'other Aeriths' just like he bumped into 'other Zack'. *But then* the Aerith that gets up in the City of the Ancients and lives on in Cloud's mind could be *yet further* mind-battery by Sephiroth cosplaying as Aerith just to further drive the 'you are a puppet' in. I'm honestly expecting that to be a fake-out reveal in next game.
I won't get into my long tangent on why I think the director is doing this timeline stuff, but as for Aerith existing in both timelines, dead or alive, I think the game is attempting to have Cloud represent us, the player. One half of us wants to keep Aerith dead, for the sake of keeping intact the beautiful story of the original game, while the other half wants us to live, to see what could have been, to make a new story. The game then metaphysically traps cloud between both worlds, where Aerith is alive and dead at the same time. I do respect the vision, though story wise it is quite literally trying to have the cake and eat it too, or in this cake, have the Aerith and kill her too.
It seems to be more that Cloud DID witness her death, and DID give her that water burial, but was completely psychologically FUCKED during it all, and Aerith uses the Lifestream and her connection to it to retroactively bury those memories, to make Cloud believe she was simply "staying behind" to pray and stop Meteor. She knows he needs to be able to fight and lead the rest of the party, and he can't do that if his brain breaks. I assume this memory will be restored after he falls into the Lifestream and has to recover his true self with the help of Tifa. But the question is whether that will also restore his confidence and his drive to live and fight like in the original, or break him completely like it would have if Aerith hadn't hidden it.
I sort of agree with you but only if it actually does end up leading to Advent Children. Then all of this timeline stuff would've actually been worthless, if the trilogy ends with Aerith and Cloud reunited however, then I am more than happy they did this. It just has to mean something otherwise I would preferred an actual remake instead of adding in Kingdom Hearts bullshit (I say with love as a massive KH nerd)
That double team battle with Cloud and Zack was the craziest most epic shit! But something about it seems familiar to a different game. SORA AND RIKU VS XEMNAS!! Nomura! You sly one trick pony!
Aerith's animations are TOP NOTCH! When the light hits her face and you can see her smile stretch on for miles while her huge beautiful eyes stare back at you. It's another level of appreciation I have for this remake and my man I'm going to cry by the end of this stream because I love this series so much!
Aerith is acting weird in her 'dream' as she understands whats about happen to her (somehow) and she just wants her last moment's before she dies to be happy with Cloud. Its her going into a Manic state, which happens whenever someone knows they are going to die very soon. Its beyond tragic.
But THAT Aerith hands him white materia that he then gives to OUR Aerith. I mean, the allusions to death are very clear with Aerith's fate, but I've got no idea why any of that happened
@@thisninja11 well I know that. I'm stuck on *why* it's another Aerith. And which Aerith is it when she cares about Cloud so much? She's hiding from Sephiroth, but under what circumstances? Just a whole lotta questions with not many answers
To me it’s pretty clear the date with Aerith in the alternate timeline was meant to both be symbolic, as well as foreshadow the ending of the remake trilogy. Youre given choices at the shops. Each choice is a timeline. But in the end, the choice doesn’t matter because you are given the same thing no matter what you choose. Cloud making the choice is the timelines converging. Getting the same thing no matter what is the re-convergence. All timelines will eventually converge into one. But the thing of note is that in both of the shops, the thing you’re given wasn’t even one of the options on the table. It was something you couldn’t have seen coming. It could be that this is just meant to represent how the ending to the trilogy will be something new and unexpected, or it could be that this is meant to represent someone traveling through timelines. Outside help being brought in to re-converge the split timelines.
If it really is just Cloud’s delusions, I like the ending a lot. It’s very unsettling in a good way. If it’s timeline stuff, I think it’s kind of lame. They got people talking at least.
I think it’s been made clear that it’s not timelines, but more of worlds coming together. As I type that I realize that’s just saying the same thing, but that’s what I’ve been hearing from people trying to look into the lore.
Im so sorry to tell you that it's 100% timeline bullshit since that's the new thing they are doing for the FF7RE project, like, Sephiroth straight up just spits it out he sounds cryptic but he just tells what his plan when Cloud was in that alternate world
Really glad he went into it with an open mind, made for some fun streams! My theory is still leaning into Omni-Aerith being the one with Cloud in the fight, battling Seph across worlds (Sephiroths "I underestimated you", and her taking the white holy materia from a different world being "Poor form") and that the sky rift is real (hence the line change "I miss the steel sky" -> "I don't like this sky" in Remake ending, she could see it back then), but that Cloud is still definitely super messed up during the ending, hopefully resolved sooner rather than later in the next part. I didn't like the ending at first but the more I've thought about it the more I've enjoyed it and become excited for the next part! I hope they can manage to come up with more innovative minigames and not re-use too many, I enjoyed 100%ing this game quite a lot
Ok so this is my understanding of the story. There is a multiverse, and there's a "fated" path that the whispers are supposed to make sure happens. When that path is deviated from, a new universe is created. Sepheroth doesn't have any interest in keeping the fated timeline intact, but he does want there to be only one universe, so he fights against the white whispers trying to overwrite fate with what he wants. Sepheroth is also destroying any branching universes that exist, and he consumes them so that they can be merged with his own universe. The cracks in the sky signify that Sepheroth is actively trying to destroy/consume that universe. When he talks about "reunion" he means combining all the universes, and when he says "rebirth" it means turning the combined worlds into a universe that he desires. He wants to then rule that universe for the rest of eternity. When Aerith died, her consciousness continued to exist, and she is helping the planet resist Sepheroth's efforts to rewrite fate. Her body is gone, but she still has agency. I'm pretty sure the reason Cloud has the black materia at the end is because Sepheroth's body wasn't actually there. It was more or less a hallucination, which is why he didn't just take the materia and leave.
I think the major story event that happens at the end of this game and the end of disc 1 of the original release is the one thing the PS1 game does definitively better. Spoilers, obviously- I know it's the finale episode of a pseudo-remake of a 25 year old game but still When Aerith is killed in the original game, you know for certain what you're watching. The mysterious asshole you've been chasing across the entire world just killed a character you've likely grown very close to, either through her writing and her place as a love interest for Cloud, her incredible healing in battles, or both. It's shocking, it's heartbreaking, and the thing is that you don't even know if she's DEAD dead or if it's a fake out until you beat the tense and melancholic Jenova fight immediately afterwards. But Rebirth is so obsessed with sUbvErTInG ExPeCtaTiONs that it completely overindulges in the moment, and plays it up harder than any melodramatic Kingdom Hearts confusion I've seen in even Nomura's most pretentious games. Between approaching the altar where Aerith is praying, and the credits, there are like 8 fucking fakeouts where the game fucks with you about whether or not she's dead. The initial "save" where Sephiroth cheats fate and kills her anyways, her coming back in battle, Cloud getting her to "wake up", the vagueness of the aftermath, the intentionally confusing ending- I can see exactly what they're going for. But the presentation is trying so hard to do weird metatextual shit that it confuses the emotion. I forget where I read it but someone described it perfectly- "in the original you're devastated, you're in shock and denial, but in Rebirth, you're too focused on whether or not what you're seeing is real or not, and it kills the emotion of the moment." Again, I can tell what they're trying to do, immersing you in Cloud's confusion and his damaged psyche and giving you his EXACT perspective of having his memory of Aerith's death altered. But shit dude you gotta know WHEN to do the weird plot ghost stuff and when to keep it down-to-earth.
The old saying is "keep it simple" The old story will forever be superior to me. It's complex character development told in a clear and concise way. Throughout the first part of the story, Aerith was digging at a part of Cloud he couldn't see himself. She saw through his act. By the time of her death, it was clear just by his reaction that she had made an impact on him, he was finally able to see what she saw too. All of that was communicated without the bells, whistles and spectacle the new game brings to the table.
You should check out this game called Final Fantasy 7 on the Sony PlayStation Home Game Console. You can experience the story exactly as you remember it over and over again, especially if you remember to save at the top of the spiral staircase in the City of Ancients just like your Spoiler-Free Gameplayers Guide told you.
Subtlety is probably the biggest weakness in these games. Like, the main set pieces they did a great job adapting and embellishing (Junon, bombing mission, Gold saucer dates, Costa del Sol, etc), but Sephiroth serves a completely different purpose and some of his best scenes got butchered.
Nah, it's messy but it's nowhere near the level of fuckery in the Kingdom Hearts games Though I personally don't see it as them faking you out too much like you do, cuz the ending heavily leans into "Cloud is losing his mind and pretending Aerith is fine" for now, whether or not it'll stay that way in the third game we'll have to see though, cuz for as much of the story as I liked in here, I really wasn't a fan of the "Sephiroth wants to do multiversal lifestream-esque energy thing God powers" angle they took
CHADLEY So since Binny didn't finish the Protorelics, if he reads these comments I think he'll like this Chadley information. It's revealed that Chadley, despite being an android confirmed in Remake, may also be some type of Sephiroth Clone experiment since Hojo starts fucking with him when he finds out what Chadley is doing.
Just wanted to say, as someone who’s avoided this series my whole life because of the “popular = bad” opinion I’ve had about a lot of things since I was a kid, I sincerely apologise for being so stuck up, this game fucking rules, really changed my view on a series I thought I’d never like, all I ever liked was the chocobos, now I love it all, super cool, really loveable characters, Barret is so fucking funny in his dialogue and vibe, also Nanaki is my new favourite character ever, I love the dumb big cat man he’s great, cheers Vinny, I now own a shitpost queens blood shirt 👍🫡
As someone who knew some of the major events and story beats from the original, but has only really experienced FF7's story for the first time through Remake/Rebirth, I've gotta say it really feels like they're getting in the way of their own storytelling sometimes by giving Sephiroth admin commands. Like, I get that his whole goal is to become a god of everything, but it tends to come off as cheap and overtly video game-y in its presentation Take Aerith's big scene, for example, I personally feel like they really mucked up the weight of that scene simply by "merging" everything together in that key moment, seemingly just for the sake of playing with peoples' expectations. Vinny joked about needing better camera angles, but they explicitly showed Cloud _changing the event_ and then followed it immediately with Sephiroth just being like "lol, nope, let's Ctrl+Z that". Then, in the final cutscene sequence, we still get this weird back and forth of both Cloud and Aerith existing on different planes with jumbled tones and motivations all around. I know enough of the original story to have an idea of what's going on with the lifestream and alternate reality stuff, but as a first time experience, it is genuinely a bizarre story structure at times in what is otherwise a largely finely-crafted product
Surely nothing controversial will happen today on todays stream, I’m certain everyone here will all be united on how they handled the ending! :) Edit: Chat actually really wasn’t as bad or divided as they were when Remake came out, they were confused and didn’t fully love how the game ended but it didn’t feel too toxic like before
This feels like it should be the game to break that "I'll use it later" mindset for items, it gives you SO MANY recovery items that you might as well use them every time you even sorta need one. But Vinny brain brick wall sometimes.
Came for the shish kebab, stayed for the Schrodinger's Florist... Yup, this was very confusing, but at least it was good spectacle wise. Can't wait to see the finale of this chaos 4-7 years from now...
I never grew up with FFVII so I don't even have an attachment to these characters. But god damn it, the scene with little Aerith and her mother fucked me up real good.
Even though the end game story stuff is kinda all over the place, I do think what Rebirth did better than the 97 original is let Aerith keep her humanity and character. It always kinda bothered me how quick she was turned into an expository plot device at this point in the original game, so it's nice that she'll be getting some sort of continuing story arc.
It's so strange to see Hallucinated(?) Aerith just walking around, unable to be seen by anyone other than Cloud and Sephiroth. Also, Cloud has officially lost his marbles.
They’ve been building A TON of story connections to Wutai since Remake. The whole war that’s going to kick off as well as the issues with government. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a big chunk of the game as well as part of the Midgar raid.
It is definitely going to be significantly different than the original with the upcoming but manipulated Wutai-Shinra World War II. There might be the Don Corneo stuff shoved into the plot because it was in the original but might be handled slightly differently.
For all the people who were rightfully poking fun at the characters during the Jenova fight for doing "marvel quips" and it being super tone deaf Yeah that's a localization thing. They don't make silly little puns in battle when casting spells. Things like Barret's "I'm coming in hot!" during the Jenova transition are just standard "Raaaaaaaaaargh!" type yells in the JP version. Yuffie's " Get that shit outta here!" Is just "You won't get away!" etc etc
This whole ending was extremely Kingdom Hearts II. I don't think the game is bad, but Rebirth is constantly tripping over itself to do something different at all costs. Whenever something from the original is expanded on (like Cloud and Tifa's relationship and his foggy brain, and Barrett's past) it's almost always a slam dunk. But when the multiversal ghosts of fate fakeout stuff shows up it gets in the way of the core stuff more than enhances it. I understand wanting to do something new as the FF7 Remake was almost begrudgingly made (it started off as a PS3 tech demo which grew into fan outcry for a remake) and that FF7 is the best known FF game. Everyone knows about THE scene, about Sephiroth, and so on. But at the same time, Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Aerith, and many other characters in the Remake are done SO damn well and most if not all re-creations of original events are the best parts of the game. It makes me believe that a game which didn't have plot ghosts or Limbo Aerith and whose difference in plot was expanding on characters like Jessie's parents would have been fantastic and infinitely more straightforward. But in their attempts to do something different, the devs have tied their new story into needlessly convoluted knots. This is Final Fantasy 7, it's being sold on Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Sephiroth battling over the fate of the planet, so really not a whole lot CAN change. The only options the devs have is to more or less deliver to same results with added twists and turns which is where, I believe, all the padding comes from. I don't know for sure if the devs themselves know where they're going, but Rebirth is so deep in its own sauce that I don't know if the Remake trilogy will be able to tell a concise story that doesn't require reading an almanac to make sense of it.
I have the same feelings about it, it tries so hard to surprise people that it feels more made with the intention of having constant fan influx of theories on youtube and social media for people to discuss and keep the game being discussed for when the new title drops (Is Aerith alive or dead?? million clickbaits and million discussions and theories), the game is very much in conversation with that side of itself because the game is EXTREMELY aware of how much people tried to keep Aerith alive back in the day.

@AggroNoobs I know I'm in the minority but I absolutely love the ending. It shows how down right insane Cloude is now and builds up his mental break to be even more impactful in part 3. @@aytony4090bold of you to assume nobunga isn’t waiting to reveal a new multiverse plot in part 3 and cloud is just stuck between two dimensions where Aerith lives and dies
I admit, I'm genuinely intrigued by this 4D chess fight from the Lifestream between Aerith and Sephiroth.
It's crazy people even need this explained as this plot point is pretty cut and dry.

To quote Krusty the clown "Man, that just kept going, huh?"
That was a thing?
For the record, in the original, Aerith had animations and dialogues that could happen if trough data manipulation you kept Aerith in the party after her supposed death. The reason is that originally, she wasn't supposed to die, or at least not there. During development, there were lots of talks and discussions on who should live and die, like at some point Barret was the one meant to die and at another all the party members sans the one in your current party would die by the time you reach the last 15% of the game. So when eeventually they stuck with Aerith, they left in the game file those animations and messages that would have played in the case of Aerith sticking around.
Turns out, that Uncle working at Squaresoft who know this one trick -- it was Uncle Nobunga all along.

It took me like 4 tries
That's how Vinny do
I think the end being in sight brings out focus in him.
Not to huff the copium, but aside from Odin, I only game overed a few times. My gameplay wasn't, but godawful? Damn...

Cloud remembering Zack isn't the main thing, it's how Cloud remembers Zack.
cloud remembers more maybe but in other ways hes even more fractured than the original
i agree that a lot is hinging on that moment tho
Remember, Cloud has to come to terms with Aerith's death, and that'll mostly likely happen in the lifestrean sequence with Cloud and Tifa. They've literally been building up that moment for huge pay off.
You should be worried, if Part 3 will be anything like that garbage I imagine it will sell even worse than Rebirth. Hopefully it never comes to that.
Alright Cait Sith, you've earned your :3 back

@@Loop_Kat That hypothetical scene alone would be better than all other scenes (and dates) in the entire game.
YOU EARNED THIS BIG BOY
Spoilers about the end game and, what I think, the whole last hours was about:
If you can guess and paid attention, this game is delving into alternate timelines and realities.
I basically felt the exact same way but I did think it was the same Zack in every scene.
Sorrow, regret, Donbei...
Cloud really is the Smeagol to Sephiroth's Gollum
I'm so stupid I just realized it's called Phoenix Down because down is another word for feathers. It's Phoenix's feathers. I can't be the only one.
It's a common enough thing that you're definitely not the only one. I think even Vinny said at one point during Rebirth or Remake that, as a kid, he thought it meant Phoenix Down as in, like, a party member is "down" which isn't too wild of an assumption or misconception, especially since most of these games only ever show the item as either a small (pixel) feather icon or just a line of text with no extra context or even an animation
On a related note, if you've ever heard of a down pillow (which I don't think are too common these days), it means it's filled with down feathers because they're the softest feathers. That's also why it's called Phoenix Down, its incredible softness is actually a feature of its healing properties
Yeah down is the soft fluffy part of bird wings. Chicks have more of it to keep them warm.

Lost my mom last year. Aerith's flashback segment was hard to watch.

I’d lost mine just a few short weeks before the launch of Rebirth, safe to say Aerith’s flashback was a real kick in the teeth for me.
The ending reminds me of Jacob's Ladder is it real? Or is he going fucking crazy?
Never thought I'd see Final Fantasy compared to Jacob's Ladder.
I actually forgot until the previous video that crisis core had the subtitle reunion. It feels like they were leading up to the third part being called that but that couldn't be the case now, it would be ridiculous.
So while I'm not sure what the third part will be called, I have some ideas on what it COULD be, like;
-Remembrance works due to the MANY things that are still to come like Lucrecia, whatever they have done to Shera, the ENTIRE storyline involving the Cetra and the Gi, Zack, Aerith, literally everyone fits this title.
It won't stick in their head
-Retribution, Resolution, Reckoning, all speak for themselves, all kind of likely for a finale and are probably the only other ones I can think of outside of Redemption which is HIGHLY unlikely to avoid even the slightest confusion with RDR.
Now for what will never be the choice but I thought funny to mention;
-Revision, since it's a revision of the original story, also Retold.
-Renobunga, I'm sure this would be the choice for Binyot.
-Renimbi, a Chinese currency
-Referendum, while there are politics in the game I doubt the final part is going to revolve around voting lol.
-This one is unlikely but also likely in some ways, Reflections, I thought it could possibly hint towards more of the alternate universe being a bigger part of the story (like reflections of the reality they know on either side)
Anyway, enough of my rambling.
The devs have said that *this* game was gonna be Reunion, had it not been used for the CC Remaster. So Part 3 probably coulda been Rebirth instead
How about Revengeance? Cloud becomes a cyborg ninja, and Squeenix offloads development to Platinum in order to offset costs.

Spoilers (and very long comment) included
I really hope that Cloud seeing Aerith has more to do with his own character rather than timeline stuff, even though given the way things are going, the latter is absolutely going to be the case.

TLDR don't care, didn't ask, game sucked and I'm glad it's failing to sell.

I don’t know what that is.
Aerith's animations are TOP NOTCH! When the light hits her face and you can see her smile stretch on for miles while her huge beautiful eyes stare back at you. Aerith is acting weird in her 'dream' as she understands whats about happen to her (somehow) and she just wants her last moment's before she dies to be happy with Cloud. Its her going into a Manic state, which happens whenever someone knows they are going to die very soon. Its beyond tragic.
she sees the future
But THAT Aerith hands him white materia that he then gives to OUR Aerith. I mean, the allusions to death are very clear with Aerith's fate, but I've got no idea why any of that happened

24:46 "YOU'RE BECOMING MORE LIKE YOUR FATHER EVERY DAY" to Red XIII had me in TEARS
I think you might need to insert disc 2 to continue from here.
Bro cloud is tweaking off his yipper
If it really is just Cloud’s delusions, I like the ending a lot. It’s very unsettling in a good way. If it’s timeline stuff, I think it’s kind of lame.
They got people talking at least.
I think it’s been made clear that it’s not timelines, but more of worlds coming together.
As I type that I realize that’s just saying the same thing, but that’s what I’ve been hearing from people trying to look into the lore.
Nothing compared to the delusions of Squeenix fanboys praising this game.
Im so sorry to tell you that it's 100% timeline bullshit since that's the new thing they are doing for the FF7RE project, like, Sephiroth straight up just spits it out he sounds cryptic but he just tells what his plan when Cloud was in that alternate world
It would be much cooler if it was all a coping method for cloud but of course it won’t be that.
@@Boamere This whole comment section is a "coping method" for how bad this game's plot/writing is.

My best guess:
An Aerith died in one universe, an Aerith lived in another, Cloud can see the one that lived, but no one else can???
Probably.
Nah sephiroth was basically hunting down all the aerith's. So shes definitely dead
I think there’s a more obvious answer here. Aerith died, but cloud is hallucinating.
@@HabitualThinker Unfortunately, knowing how the writing is in this, probably not as simple as that.
@@acerbusthedarkenvtuber5684 It will likely be even dumber than that.
Next game will be called Final Fantasy 7: Rehab
Aerith may have lost her physical form, but the fact that Red XIII also notices her when she touches him tells she's not dead dead.
She exists in the lifestream for sure
I think Aerith became something like a Whisper. Like the Whispers themselves, you can only become aware of her presence by making contact with her.

(mike voice) "Its okay Cloud, one one's ever REALLY gone."
I think the major story event that happens at the end of this game and the end of disc 1 of the original release is the one thing the PS1 game does definitively better. Spoilers, obviously- I know it's the finale episode of a pseudo-remake of a 25 year old game but still
When Aerith is killed in the original game, you know for certain what you're watching.
I forget where I read it but someone described it perfectly- "in the original you're devastated, you're in shock and denial, but in Rebirth, you're too focused on whether or not what you're seeing is real or not, and it kills the emotion of the moment."
Again, I can tell what they're trying to do, immersing you in Cloud's confusion and his damaged psyche and giving you his EXACT perspective of having his memory of Aerith's death altered.
Good
You should check out this game called Final Fantasy 7 on the Sony PlayStation Home Game Console.
Nah, it's messy but it's nowhere near the level of fuckery in the Kingdom Hearts games
Though I personally don't see it as them faking you out too much like you do, cuz the ending heavily leans into "Cloud is losing his mind and pretending Aerith is fine" for now, whether or not it'll stay that way in the third game we'll have to see though, cuz for as much of the story as I liked in here, I really wasn't a fan of the "Sephiroth wants to do multiversal lifestream-esque energy thing God powers" angle they took
CHADLEY
So since Binny didn't finish the Protorelics, if he reads these comments I think he'll like this Chadley information.
It's revealed that Chadley, despite being an android confirmed in Remake, may also be some type of Sephiroth Clone experiment since Hojo starts fucking with him when he finds out what Chadley is doing.
ahhh, so he's an S-type Chud?
So if I have my math straight, that's uh, Sephiroth Clone number 10?
Chadley isn't a Sephiroth clone. He's just an android based on another person that Hojo keep in his lab.

Like, I get that his whole goal is to become a god of everything, but it tends to come off as cheap and overtly video game-y in its presentation
Take Aerith's big scene, for example, I personally feel like they really mucked up the weight of that scene simply by "merging" everything together in that key moment, seemingly just for the sake of playing with peoples' expectations.
Edit: Chat actually really wasn’t as bad or divided as they were when Remake came out, they were confused and didn’t fully love how the game ended but it didn’t feel too toxic like before

I have some trouble imagining how they could handle Wutai in an even remotely similar way to the original after all of this.
They wont the don corneo thing will likely be side quest stuff but wutai is set up differently not with the war and all that
They’ve been building A TON of story connections to Wutai since Remake.
Quick thanks to Vinny for introducing me to final fantasy 7 back when he first played the original version of it. I've been a fan since.

For all the people who were rightfully poking fun at the characters during the Jenova fight for doing "marvel quips" and it being super tone deaf
Yeah that's a localization thing.
The finale time
This whole ending was extremely Kingdom Hearts II.
Oh it's bad... I mean it's great when it stays true to the original game, but then absolutely God awful at everything else.
