I made a quilt with fabric OUTSIDE of my comfort zone!

- Have you ever had a designer or fabric line - or maybe even a quilting pattern - that caused you SOME level of stress or anxiety or difficulty in actually pulling it off your shelves, cutting into it, and putting it into a quilt? There are some designers and fabric lines out there that might just not be your cup of tea, but once you tackle your fears and begin the process, you might be surprised how differently you feel when the quilt is finished! Challenge yourself to pull that fabric out and enjoy the process. I did...and I'm extremely pleased with this incredible collaboration inspired by my Quilty friends @TiffanysQuiltingLife, @OffKilterCrafterIan, @teresalouiseiquilt2525, and @gudegoods1487!

I’m discovering I like Tula a bit!
I love that pattern, but the Tula black and white fabric is fantastic. I don’t buy much of her fabric but I’m not adverse to it. I think she is an exceptionally talented artist. That quilt absolutely needed the purple border!

I love Tula fabric the prints and colors take me back to the 80s when I grew up. I feel you when you said your afraid to cut into it. Something makes you just scared while cutting it. I get flashbacks from when I used my Strawberry Shortcake fabric I only had 1 yard of and what I made with it not turning out so good so now I make sure it is what I want to make. I can't wait for Tabby Road!

Admit intimidated by some tula, but love her solids and the smaller motifs. The purple frame/binding was perfect, as was the border, allowing it to float. Loved the whole story, lucky aunt. 😍 seeing the joy on your face when you revealed your quilted quilt. Big hugs, Chel 🌸

I get the outside comfort zone with Tula fabric - attempting the butterfly quilt. Your quilt is beautiful, the black and white with the pop of colour give a very striking look.
I hear you! I bought the butterfly quilt and will be working on it off camera with some friends. That one intimidates me - but I know with the help of my friends, it'll come together!

Tula Pink is my absolute favorite, I buy all her fabrics and love to sew with them. I have several less than halfway done though because I tend to choose complicated designs with her stuff and then they take forever. 😂 Beautiful quilt, seems like a great choice for linework!

Beautiful quilt, black was the only choice. I have only used precuts with Tula fabric, it is a pick and choose because I hate snakes.
I grew up in Ferndale , Michigan. Now live in Northern Michigan. Love watching your videos. Your quilt turned out so pretty! That purple binding was a great choice!

I get it! There's lots of her fabric that I do actually like - and I buy it. Then, it sits on the shelf forever...I never work with it...and then I destash it. Perhaps I'll stop stressing and try to use more of it.

Gorgeous quilt. I am totally with on the fear of cutting Tula. I pulled the trigger recently with a layer cake of Tiny Beasts using the Hunters Star from a layer cake and it stunning!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

Girl, this is absolutely gorgeous!! You captured the beauty of her designs and then highlighted each of them with the appropriate color choices. Wow.🖤🤍🖤 My suggestion for a name would be something that centers around the common love you and your friend share. “New Stars on the Block” since they look like the newest stars in the night sky. Love your quilt so much! Well done!!🌙

I'm not a Tula fan, but I do appreciate the vibrant colors and designs...I just find them hard to work with, as I do smaller piecing, and her prints are large designs...and would just get cut up.... also not a fan of Kaffee, or batiks, or K.Troubles...but hey! We all have our preferences, and there is something for all!

I just finished my quilt top using linework some solids and a black background I just have to add a thick border so it fits my Queen bed. I’m in love with it❤

I absolutely LOVE this quilt!
I’m doing Cotton Cuts Petting Zoo because my sister with a TBI requested it. Otherwise, big meh on Tula. I like bright fabric, I like busy patterns - I may have a Stomp Stomp Roar quilt on my bed. But Tula just is too much, goes past bright and busy into too much in large size and it warps when cut small.
Oooh, Ian's doing Petting Zoo - personally, he can have that one. I'm kind of excited about Cotton Candy this go round!

I love using Tula fabric, but you have to commit to fussy cutting to get the best results. It’s not quick.
I’m another one of those “why Tula” people… I think I just avoid designers in general because I feel they have to be all matchy-matchy and well, I’m not, lol

I was clapping as the quilt was revealed. I too struggle with "quilting fear" as i call it. Im sort of a newbie being about 3 years deep. I admire your honesty about what you do and do not like. I admire lorie holt and her experience, but... her fabric designs? Eehhh... so, everything is not for everybody right?
This would have caused NO stress for me for I am not a fan of Tula fabric line, I don't own any nor do I want any. The line is just not my choice of designs.
I get it :) Fortunately, there's PLENTY of fabric to please every one!
I absolutely love Tula she is the sweetest and funniest, but I am really not in to Tula Pink Fabric. Just not my jam.

Most Tula fabrics are Hideously Ugly, ….Bright Garish Colors, Yuck
