Good evening! And thank you so much for over 7,800 subscribers - I'm really glad to have received so much support on the many videos on this channel, and tonight we're going for one of our biggest walks yet, a tour around the biggest city in Scotland: Glasgow! This is a very long video (and we don't even manage to cover the whole city!), so to help you navigate through the tour of Glasgow, here's a list of timestamps linking to some of the city's most famous landmarks: 0:00 George Square, City Chambers, Scott Monument 4:14 Gallery of Modern Art and the Duke of Wellington (with a cone on his head!) 6:39 Buchanan Street 10:33 St. Enoch Square & Subway Station 13:54 River Clyde 16:09 South Portland Street Suspension Bridge 26:15 McLennan Arch 30:51 St. Andrews Street 32:41 Tolbooth Steeple, Mercat Cross and Glasgow Cross 34:08 Trongate 36:11 Merchant Square (Fruitmarket Buildings) 46:13 Glasgow Queen Street Station 47:32 St. George's Tron Church 48:18 Buchanan Street 51:22 Donald Dewar Statue 51:59 Sauchiehall Street 1:02:27 George Square I really hope you enjoy the video - and do leave a comment of any great memories you have of the magnificent city that is Glasgow :)
Oh lovely. I was studying master at Strathclyde U. 1991-1992 and doctorate 94-97. I miss very much to Glasgow, but now very difficult go there I am already 72 yrs😢
Love Glasgow, it has so much to offer, and so beautiful. Remember walking into a suburban Fish and Chippery, many, many, many, years ago, and being served by the most Scottish Chinese guy, with the broadest Glaswegian accent, and spending ages just chatting with him about how, when, and where, his family ended up in Glasgow all the way from Hong Kong. Thanks for another brilliant Walk. Keep them coming!
That sounds like a classic Glasgow memory! It's an amazing city and Glaswegians like the guy in the chippy with their fascinating history and genuine warmth make it a wonderful place to visit :) Thanks for sharing that story there - and thank you very much for watching, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
Ha ha very much so! I got a lot of friendly greetings walking around the city with a camera on this evening - the Glaswegians are a very good-natured and fun-loving people, always great to see that energy :) Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
I was pleasantly surprised watching this video. I had no idea Glasgow had so much to offer. Thank you for sharing the city's rich history, so many interesting facts. There is certainly a good variety of historical buildings to see too. Thank you.
It really is a spectacular city! Edinburgh gets a lot of the plaudits from tourists but Glasgow is also filled to the brim with heritage and brilliant cityscapes, not to mention the depth of history at every corner around the city :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
If you get a chance to visit, you will not be disappointed! The magnificent People's Palace, in Glasgow Green, is fantastic, as is the incredible KelvingroveMuseum. My favourite place in Glasgow to eat is The '78 - fantastic food, music, people! This city has everything!
@@theresabradley4716 Thank you that sounds really good. I would love to visit Glasgow and many parts of Scotland. I think it may be some time before I go especially as I'm a few hundred miles away.
Nice walk of Glasgow city in Scotland. I enjoyed it very much. I've been to Glasgow city in Scotland in 1996. It brings back great memories. The city looks beautiful and historical. The history lessons were great. Your walks are always wonderful. 😀 can't wait to see more soon. Have a great day. How was your weekend? Mine was great.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the walk in Glasgow, I'm sure you had a great time there back in '96 - it really is a spectacular place to visit, and full of history :) I had a lovely weekend thank you - stay tuned this week for more walks!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos - there's so much history in cities like Glasgow that I certainly can't pack everything into the one walk, but I'm really happy you enjoyed the heritage we looked at here, it's a great city :)
You have caught the light perfectly thanks for a great video ,I really enjoyed the walk round my home City without leaving the chair it's amazing how much you know, you take for granted or just forget about the City around you. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - Glasgow is a magnificent city, and as you mention it's quite amazing just how much of a place you're so familiar with can appear so unique when you see it from a different perspective, including your armchair :)
You're welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - and thank you very much for watching, Glasgow is a spectacular city with so much to see and learn about :)
Well worth a second d walk roundabout Glasgow University area and art galleries, transport museum, enjoyed this walk being a resident of Glasgow it was good to see how nice it looked.
Absolutely! I think we could have whole series of videos exploring the different districts of Glasgow - and that's not even before heading out into the suburbs and surrounding towns! The university area is lovely, and on my return to Glasgow in future I'll make a video there :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
My heart just keeps melting with these walks.. I miss Glasgow so effin much and your videos make me remember all the memories I had built there in the last 2 years... ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! There was indeed a lot of research that went into this very long video, but Glasgow has such a staggering heritage that I was only able to just scratch the surface here :) Do stay tuned for more walks in the future!
Wow. I had no idea Glasgow was such a beautiful city. I'd also like to go to Edinburgh but fear the amount of tourists will ruin the experience. I like these longere videos btw. Where are you planning going next? Thanks for the walk! Cheers from Copenhagen.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - all 63 minutes of it too :) Glasgow is a fantastic city and its architecture really is second to none. As you mention Edinburgh can be a little more crowded with tourists but outside the summer it's certainly not too bad, central Glasgow is more of a city in action as you might have seen in this video! Thank you again for your very kind words about the video - there are lots more walks to come over the next few weeks, including in St Andrews, Loch Ness, the Lake District, Leeds, the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire, the South Coast and many more :) Do stay tuned for it!
It looks a lot cleaner than when I was there in '91. We had engine trouble in the train coming down from the north, and I had to switch stations. I took a cab. It was getting dark, and I had to find a hotel. It was the first and last time in my life I was asked how many hours I wanted the room for. It was awful. When morning came, I was gone!
Oh no! That's such a shame to hear - certainly Glasgow is a much-changed city over the last 30 years, hopefully you get the chance to visit again in the future to see how the city is today :) Thank you so much for watching - I do hope you enjoyed the video!
Thank you for another excellent walk. You used what appears to be your favourite word (beginning with I and a variant of it) eight times. This is a smile :)
Ha ha thank you very much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video - I'm trying to think what my favourite word would be from that... Impressive? Imposing? I know I use them rather a lot :)
This is the second video I have watched of yours ,did Edinburgh yesterday and Glasgow today, thank you thank you thank you, I love the format the description the history I also like the natural sound of the environment as you walk around five thumbs up much gratitude!

I think your videos are superb. They take me so long to watch as I keep pausing to take everything in. May I ask, at 21.21 is that the bar that suffered the horrific helicopter crash some years ago?
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos and taking time to soak in the atmosphere of cities like Glasgow - it's a great way to explore the world :) Indeed, as you mention, the pub in The Briggait was the one hit by the helicopter back in 2013 - a devastating incident.

As you mention, every city has its pretty spots and its dirtier spots, but the city centre of Glasgow is really a spectacular place, on a par with the likes of London and Newcastle as a lovely area to walk around - far from what many may lead you to believe :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and that it showed you a different Glasgow to what you imagined!
