    Definitely a great example of persisting Ben. Second night really paid off. Enjoyed the adventure and that spot just looked a great place to spend some alone time. Couple of lovely images.

      Hey Ollie.
      Thankyou!
      Yeh I'm so glad I rolled the dice. Wasn't a perfect night for the Milkyway shot but I am not complaining at all. It is a nice spot, I really like watching the sunsets there. The dog loves it there too.
      Hope all is well down under mate!

    Hey Ben! - As always I really enjoyed seeing your adventures mate :-) A shame night one let you down, but night two definitely was a triumph as you said! That 50mm shot especially was tremendous!
    Very hopeful for some clear skies early in the week for me, we shall see!
    All the best,
    Luke

      This summer has been nothing but cloud, I feel everyones pain. I really hope it clears up for you mate. The one thing we depend on in this hobby is an accurate forcast. It makes it hard to plan anything when it is constantly changing.
      Im glad I took the gamble to go back out.
      On the first night I was stood looking up in shock, I really could not believe what I was seeing.
      As always many thanks for your support.
      Take it easy

    Loved this video Cosmuzz. Brilliant. Just looked up where you were, it’s 1hr 50 away from me, so definitely a location I’ll add to my list. Great final result

      Cheers, glad you enjoyed it mate. Oh its really nice views, im lucky to be quite close to it. I am on the scout for more areas, Kielder is on my radar to be honest. It's about 1 hour 30 from mine and it's Bortle 2 I think so at some point will be heading there.

    Great video and captures Ben! I have both those lenses you were using so I'm going to have to get out there and grab some Milky Way shots I guess now that I know the settings from your video lol. That nifty 50 kicked some ass!

      Thanks very much Joe. Yeh that 50mm has some punch to it, loved the results I got. I bet you could get some great shots where you live.

    Nice shots! Might have to look at a a 10mm lens now... off down the rabbit hole I go.

    • @CosmuzzAstro
      @CosmuzzAstro  3 года назад +1

      That was the first time I had used it in that way. Done a few random single 20 sec shots in the past with it but I was blown away with the result, glad I bought it. Think I will be using more in the future. Gives a really nice FOV i think.
      Yeh that rabbit hole does run deep and it's always hungry. I wonder if it ends :)

      Well, I've been down it for 20 years now and I haven't found the bottom yet :D

    The difrction spike are from the aperture blades on the lens, if you step down the lens they show up

      I thought it was something like that. I know you can get it from the support bars on a Newtonian. I hadn't got round to finding out yet so thanks for letting me know. I think it looks cool.

      Cheers Dave. The second night payed off. I bet that was fun jumping off High Force. I keep driving past the place but never go there. May try for a nice shot with the falls one day.

    Fantastic video Ben, your images are great. That location looks amazing! How do you find the light pollution filters? Something I’ve been thinking about for Milkyway imaging for a while.

    • @CosmuzzAstro
      @CosmuzzAstro  3 года назад +1

      Cheers Russell.
      It's not a bad spot at all. I didn't use any filters in the end on either image. The EFS Lens won't fit on anyway with the clip filter fitted but really wanted that 10mm wide shot. I used the L-Pro Max last time I was there when I captured the Orion Constellation, as I used an EF Lens. I don't think its bad at all for a filter that lets a lot of light through it, just takes that edge off. It's the same filter I have been using through Galaxy season from my back yard.

      @@CosmuzzAstro cheers mate, I might look into it as I always struggle with light pollution for MW imaging. By the way your dog is amazing!

    • @CosmuzzAstro
      @CosmuzzAstro  3 года назад

      Thanks, yeh she is a good little dog, great with the kids and was in her element out there. Yeh it's nuts how you can be in a dark location in the middle of nowhere and still pick up light pollution. To be honest mate it's only the third time I have tried to do a MW shot, still working on it all. Thought your shots last time were really good.

    Hi Ben, it's Keith, the lad who observatory in Ferryhill up you came to have a look at with John & George, is there a way of contacting you such as messenger? I need advice on connecting my laptop to my NUC in a remote site where there's no internet. Ta'

    • @CosmuzzAstro
      @CosmuzzAstro  3 года назад

      Hi Keith, Been a while, hope all is well.
      Are you still living at the same place? I dont mind popping over Later on. I am on Instagram if that helps the link is on my home page but dont have messenger any more!
      If its getting internet in a remote place, the first thing I'm thinking is using a satellite broadband link. I think DSL or VDSL would work as well but I think you need a land line for that one, not 100%. A subject I am not experienced in.
